There are so many ways that this fact about our forever war is wrong.

Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy A. Bolyard, 42, was the most senior enlisted man in the Army's unit created to train and advise front-line Afghan forces. He was killed by an Afghan policeman on Sept. 3, on his seventh deployment.

Bolyard could recall a world before 9/11. But Cpl. Joseph Maciel, a 20-year-old soldier in the same adviser unit, could not. He was killed in an insider attack on July 7.

Maciel would have been about 3 years old in 2001, learning colors and shapes when combat in Afghanistan was set in motion.

Now the war is poised to grow older than he did.

"Fundamentally immoral" is the term that comes to mind.

I have been railing against our interventions in Afghan and Iraq for so long I even remember listening to Collin Powell address the UN and lie his fucking ass off. Later, he says he was duped by the Intel agencies and his President. That means you're either incompetent or stupid or maybe both? The tool had to do that I guess to be cleansed and come out for BHO....

Translation: I'm really old now and probably in the way.

Hey, how about another SURGE? Yeah, that'll do it.

@EdMass
always time for evil

Erik Prince isn’t giving up.

A year after the Trump administration rejected the Blackwater founder’s plan to replace most U.S. troops in Afghanistan with private contractors — an idea roundly criticized by the defense and foreign policy establishment — he’s back trying to sell his plan to President Trump.

He hasn’t talked to Trump about the idea recently, he admits. But he’s been making the rounds in the media, including an appearance on Trump’s favorite television show, “Fox & Friends,” talking up his plan as a way to end the stagnation of the 17-year-old war.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
