Yes, the line

The time zone line is weird. It runs along the Apalachicola River but jogs way westward right before it hits the coast so that Apalachicola and several small communities to its west are still in the Eastern zone. The only large city in the Central zone is Pensacola. Smaller cities include Ft. Walton (Eglin AFB) and Panama City.

Can Bernie pull off an upset in Ohio?

Nate Silver on FiveThirtyEight:

The [demographic] numbers in Ohio jump out, since they suggest — in contrast to the polls — a very close race between Sanders and Clinton. After accounting for the uncertainty in the forecasts, the demographic model gives Sanders a 42 percent chance of winning Ohio, much better than the 3 percent chance that our “polls-only” forecast gives to him.

The news isn’t as good for Sanders in Missouri. There, the demographic model concludes that polls showing the race to be essentially tied are slightly too generous to Sanders; it forecasts Clinton to win by 9 percentage points.

In Illinois, the polls have been all over the place, with recent surveys showing everything from a 42-point lead for Clinton to a 2-point lead for Sanders. Our weighted polling average has Clinton up by 7 points there, and the demographic model is largely in agreement, forecasting a 9-point win for Clinton.

Finally, both polls and demographics imply that Clinton is likely to win by blowout margins in North Carolina and Florida. If Sanders were to win or come close in one of those states, it would be an even bigger upset than Michigan and would suggest that something fundamental had changed in the Democratic race.

I don't read Nate Silver all the time, so I don't know if he takes momentum into account. Hillary starts off everywhere with support based on name recognition - very few voters have never heard of her, obviously. Once the Bernie campaign gets his message out, the polls move his way. Close to Election Day, his excellent TV ads kick in. Tentative Hillary supporters switch over. Volunteers remind Bernie supporters to cast their votes. Polls are at best a snapshot - they don't always capture the accelerating erosion of Hillary's initial advantage.

I think Bernie really does scare Trump.

He knows he has TONS of ammo he can fire at Hillary.

There is literally NOTHING he can throw at Bernie that will stick and anything he tries will just make him look like a bigger asshole and galvanize Bernies supporters to work even harder to get out the vote.

I have said it since before either candidate declared that the ONLY way the Democrats can lose in 2016 is if we nominate Hillary Clinton.

The DNC reminds me...

Of certain guys I've played tabletop wargames with.

They set up their force to project MAXIMUM firepower in one direction, and do not move the entire game, save for a small group dedicated to taking whatever the objective is. They expect you to do the exact same thing, and leave the entire game up to a roll of the dice. Since they get to roll MORE, they figure they'll always win.

I guess it should be no surprise that i tend to win against that. I play with Heavy Cavalry/maneuver.

You'd be shocked at how many times I'm accused of cheating by these players, not realizing that they are the reason they keep losing.
