When I was young I had a vivid dream that I still recall of a volcano appearing out of a flat field. I now believe that I must be remembering a volcano in Mexico. TV had been introduced into the household when we lived in Johnson City, making me three years old. My daddy did an ear tug on TV for me; that must have been on an educational channel.
In real life, I am now at a State of Emergency with my damn driveway. There is now a new waterfall formation feeding into my blocked culvert and the end of the drive continues to wash out under >1" of ice. Not navigable by a car and nearly so for this human. No word from my plow guy so I get to try to find someone else today and meanwhile not have to call 911 for any purpose. $$$ flows away with the water and also to mitigate it. There's a real clayey soil type down there and even the trees creep along downhill with some falling. Sigh. As soon as it's light I should retrieve what is left in the grocery bag that I abandoned midway on my last carry trudge uphill. There were two loaves of bread in there. Bets they did not make it intact through the night?
I did haul up a small red cabbage head to try lactobacillis pickling. Now to find a clean Mason or Ball jar to masc it into, along with some multicolor peppers and dill or caraway seeds.

Science Men recently announced there is a volcano forming under New England. It could wait around for five million years, or it could burst forth and start spewing burning rocks all over Vermont tomorrow. You never know with these things.

omg, congratulations I'm happy you survived. Wow. I could not wait to get my acute appendix ripped out, had to be heavily medicated just to stop heaving, and that sucker still hurt like hell even just lying on the bed. For years I was convinced it was Dolly Madison donuts that made it want to explode. heh How many cheap babies were born that day? lol

Jeeze, so many have had acute hurling episodes!
Mine were finally Dxed as ulcers (It took blood from stomach and duodenum), and I am now back most days with the eating. Still suffering sequelent hair loss and weekly dances with anorexia, but recovering. On an omnivore diet.
I just wrote a check for $3700 to fix the lower driveway. He brought my car back up, it's currently communing with my front porch. Two culverts replaced and stone brought in. I need further top-dressing above in the spring if it ever dries out again. Sorry for those of you afflicted by drought; that was my area two years ago.

Completely OT: has anyone else experienced a noticeable slowdown in site performance? For the last several days, it takes forever for the home page, or any essay for that matter, to load (for me). Doesn't matter if it's FF, Chrome, Safari. All other sites load fine. I know Johnny mentioned maintenance, but this seems too often to coincide with that. Call me paranoid ...

thanks I noticed too, thought it was just me. Or my ISP, but that NEVER happens with them, they know how networks are supposed to operate and haven't let me down about that in over 20 years. But they don't support IPv6, my router doesn't even know what it is on the interface, so I don't load the drivers on my desktop why bother? Except all the new
garbageworld wide web software usually assumes that's turned on and available. duhThis command ruined me for life: "su -c "tcpdump -vv --immediate-mode", after typing the super user password it then goes on to show me all the idiotic cloud tentacles that have eaten the world alive already, even launching a browser goes half way to timbuktu, because I don't know why. It's Cthulhu all the way, throttled by misconfiguration. lol
After all that, I don't know what's going on. I looked here at bezos' reach ability reports: http://ec2-reachability.amazonaws.com/ , if you believe the green check marks (or red dashes). I checked the bluehost.com status, it is quiet. Seems to me the "throttle" has only been applied for a few days too, and that "sounds like" a configuration change somewhere I think. Maybe it is with sonic, now I'm talking out loud about it. Maybe they are switching "containers", I don't know! I hate the cloud, it sucks.

I have to quote the whole command after -c, if you have sudo you can try:
sudo --list-interfacesfrom a shell prompt to see what devices support capture, some wireless cards don't. -v's make it more verbose andthat part is redundant it's the default.

'til our first Cortland, NY MeetUp. If you live within an hour drive, or so, from Cortland, come join us at Doug's world famous Fish Fry, Sat., Mar. 3rd, 5-7pm! Other things Cortland is famous for... Ronnie James Dio, aka Dio, got his start, more or less, in Cortland, one of his old stomping grounds; as well as rock band 805, where band members met at the state college there. Having seen both up close and personal (albeit Dio before he became Dio), for my money 805 was the better band, one of The best live bands I've ever seen (and I've seen some). So, Cortland not only famous for Doug's, but famous for 805 (and Dio) as well. If you live close by we hope to see you at Doug's!

ago somebody I know gave
me a cassette tape of Dio WAY before
he became Dio - early '60s - where he was
singing the music of the day, doo wop and such.
I can't remember any early '60s bands that made the leap, morphed into "real rock" bands.
I know a few did. Dio was one of them.
