Trump prepares to abolish the Department of Education

Since Carter was president, the GOP has been looking to abolish the Department of Education. It looks like Trump will finally do it.

The draft order will direct the department to slash spending and slash staff, according to The Washington Post. Such an aggressive decision on such a large scale would have sweeping consequences.

“The Dept of Education provides crucial funding for low-income public schools—eliminating it would result in the loss of 6% of teachers’ jobs nationwide,” former adviser for Barack Obama, Steven Rattner, wrote on X.

For many Republican voters, "owning the libs" IS the objective. But it sure looks self-defeating to me.

It's not even close. Red States will be the big losers. School lunches, special education classes, etc.

It reminds me of Trump's reaction to California's wildfires. Suddenly he started talking about getting rid of FEMA, eventhough the biggest recipients of FEMA are poor red states.

President Donald Trump has questioned the future of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, but potential cuts to FEMA may hit residents of three red states the hardest.

"FEMA is going to be a whole big discussion very shortly because I'd rather see the states take care of their own problems," Trump said during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity Wednesday evening.

Once again, it's not even close. But I guess he will own the libs for a day.

so education funds were obviously wasted there. But seriously, I can't believe the regular work for a wage peons like us would be nuts about cutting the programs that help them. Unless the state gov.diverts the funds to donor cronies.

Has anyone looked at election integrity in red states? Republicans are masters at accusing the opposition of cheating when they've been cheating all along, and when caught declare the other side did it first so cheating was done to preserve fairness.
