OT ~ Welcome to Saturday!
Sit-a-while
on swinging porch
where tin-dippers and
sweet water
in cool touches
meet lips
from hand dug wells.
Good morning good people!
Difficult to avoid 'platitudus' when writing
or being, sometimes
hard to share
when only one listens
including the frog
In fog, with giant feet
whispering in ears, and all the rest
sameness stays until a test
moving
shaking earth, 'avalanching' into adrenaline
waking passions, wetting groins
of everyday
toils, exploits, entertainment and church
swelling, shouting enough
bitching and screening "hang them or him or me"
for that which matters
matters most when vapor rises
and all can see
including the frog
Jump!
~ Alexey Kondakov, Ukrainian artist: images of figures from classical paintings, photoshopped.
Mixed feeling about these photoshopped pieces, suppose it's a form of mixed media; stumbling across this work caused me to pause, each tells a story i see, or think i do, impressions; so all-in-all, i enjoyed finding this artist, what do you folks think?
“A day spent without the sight or sound of beauty, the contemplation of mystery, or the search of truth is a poverty-stricken day; and a succession of such days is fatal to human life.”

Smiley7, enjoyed ... mightily ... Thanks for the music ! /nt
mimi, so good to see you on Saturdays, old friend &
happy you enjoyed!

Thanks for the music
and art. I really like the Madonna in the subway. We need her to get out there amongst the people a bit. Song of the Angels. We all need the angels to sing to us.
Hey, randtntx , thanks for the contribution of art and
for being here. Yes, the angels or the best of our spirits need to speak; especially given the
demagoguery ruling "our country."
Today I had the opportunity to enjoy your poetry . . .
And all of your music. What a treat.

Cool, Marilyn, glad you had the time to listen to
the music and thanks for being here. Sorry, i've had no time to contribute to your good project; hopefully in future, around April.
I agree, the photoshopped work touched me, moved me, made me think. I recall my lover during college, the late sixties; she had me searching old abandoned farms for wooden doors she would turn into beautiful collages.
And my son, the artist, mixed media in many ways. Appears that most here enjoyed the work; grateful to have stumbled upon these good stories in photography.
Really liked the art too . . . .
There is photoshop for nefarious means, but it can be used for beauty too. When I was teaching we used the Gimp (Free Open Source Software) for these lessons. Kids did beautiful and hilarious work.
As teaching examples I put my head on Dolly Parton, George W. Bush, Pope John Paul, a cartoon character, and some financial dude who went to jail. Lots of fun. However your examples are moving and deep.

My Skid Row brother sent me down nostalgia lane to find an outfit. This is what I'll wear for the next tour, a $27 Snap On Face. Tie 'em up tight buddy! Ee-yeaaah ...

That really was a pretty blue LP, they sold them at their gigs. I used to love gigs, what happened? lol

Just what the world needs, eh? I don't think so, but who cares what I think?

Hi eyo, good smiles here..."tie your boots tight."
Remembering my California living, San Fran and LA, thanks for stirring those thoughts!
Who knows what today's politicians will do, they certainly spread bullshit far and wide, imho.
Could we, should we hope for better leadership?.....damn right!
Good morning smiley, you made me smile and think, as
usual. The pictures are cool.
The first photo is Diana out hunting, today, among tenements and bodegas (US Cultural reference frame). Where, what euro slum? Doesn't matter, the major statement is there, though precisely what it is I dunno. There is surely nothing in the vending machine for her or her hounds.
The second finds the furies harassing Orestes in some run down backwater. What does the signage say and in what tongue, and why? Is it Orestes or the bus driver?
They are great, like them a lot, though the third runs smack into the huge wall of rejection I built up for xtian iconography and hagiography over the years. Nonetheless, it isn't completely lost on me.
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
If i may, el, i thought of you when choosing to post these
intriguing pieces, just knew you would have an interpretation as i chose to post them. Now, your response, that's a warm feeling!
At first glance in the Diana photo, i saw a lady of the night with an adopted, spent greyhound having left it all in the race, her unfortunate ultimate demise as well, most likely, and the bar felt run-down and familiar.
Cool beans, thanks, as always, for being here!
i love
those photos. They say that magic is everywhere. Which is true. You just have to See it.
So right hecate, magic lives when we see; so happy
to have you back contributing on c99, we missed you!
Saturday folks, your comments just made my long cold, very cold
day into a pleasure, warm greetings and i thank you all.
Please follow your comments for a day or two as i want and will respond; but it's MLK weekend in the ski business and tomorrow begins in a few hours and this old man left it all on the slopes today.
Cheers!
