Friday Night Photos
Submitted by Bollox Ref on Fri, 12/08/2017 - 6:21pm
Got something of the winter blues. We recently had a snowfall after rain with dropping temps, which created an icy nightmare. It's still hard to walk when I attempt my daily mile (no more cycling until next year).
Still feeling blue about losing Oscar, but little Fred is injecting fun around the household. Thank goodness he sleeps once in a while.
Should you wish to have at it, have at it....
Buonasera to all.

Hi Bollox, everyone
Glad the new kitty is settling in.
Didn't get any new birds this week, but here are some recent photos.
blue jays
^This one is one of a pair that comes to our yard. I only ever see either of them about every 3rd day.
At first I was annoyed because I keep getting pics with their backs to me, but I really like the patterns on their wings and tails.
I also like the checkerboard pattern on this fluffy red-bellied woodpecker:
A very fluffy peregrine falcon!
And some cardinals.
This shit is bananas.
Hi Daenerys
I so love the woodpecker family, for all their beautiful patterns and colours as well as their sounds. There's no bird that I've heard or seen here that quite matches them, but they were among my favourite when I lived near them. I guess they never migrated here by air or were imported.
Thank you.
A bird I miss is the Magpie
Wonderful colouring. And the Jay in England is quite different, but still very noisy.

Don't tell me
you also miss the Mynah bird!

Love the second shot
How many cameras does that make?

Nice to see you again.
The bronze light of the sky and its reflection is beautiful. Is that some kind of raft in the foreground, that is lit around its perimeter?
It's a dock

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Thanks for tonight's Photo Thread, BR. Glad
that you've found such an adorable new friend. Fred looks pretty young, so I bet that he can be a handful when he's awake!
Really beat this evening, so just want to thank (in advance) all of our excellent photographers for sharing their work with us.
Below is a photo of a sweet looking little mixed breed 'customs bomb sniffing' dog, who was honored in the nation's Capital not long ago. (Was going to write a blurb about him and a couple of others; then, nixed the idea.) Anyway, at least he'll get a little recognition if I post his photo.
Personally, I'm not wild about forcing any animal into performing such dangerous activities. From what I've read, though, he's credited with potentially having saved a whole lot of lives.
Hey, Everyone have a nice weekend!

... probably including lots of plant life. I guess one can often find a silver lining to frame the regrettable. Thank you for the poignancy of your sentiments.
De nada, Janis. Thank you
for the kind words.
Always great to see you!

Great photos
one and all.
Hoping to get back to photography soon. Till then keep up the good game.
Thanks for hosting Bollox.

This monkey's mother died
the veterinary technician took him home for her dawg to help raise. This is why I love animals. They are always open to sharing their hearts.
And they can find joy anywhere.

Hi snoopy
Those are amazing photos. They will leave me smiling for a long time. I can always come back here when I need a smile. Thank you!
It does brighten ones day
The smile on that dawgs face made me laugh when I saw it. And the contentment of the monkey comes through too.
Glad to brighten your day, Janis

Hey Snoopy
Nice story about the monkey. That last photo looks like the sheeple have had enough and the revolution is on.

I like your interpretation.
It's very fitting.

I am captivated by the photo of the baby on its parent's back; graphically and emotively.
Hi Janis
The gorillas are a one year old male and it's mother. Photographing them was an enjoyable experience.

Hi Bollox, and thanks.
Some oranges for your blues ...
I’m sorry about Oscar. Losing beloved pets is such a great loss. Fred looks like he has great potential for enjoyment ; ).
Do they make walking boots with chains for the snow and ice?
Be warm and well.
Thanks Janis
That looks nice and warm.

Ahh, the joy of kitties
I remember those days when my cat would race through the house, bank off the walls, climb the curtains or my bathrobe while I was wearing it..
Fred is gorgeous. Great name too. Thanks for hosting tonight.
