Nice selection today.
Liked the ones at the top especially.

You could have gone with "Charlie Brown" by The Coasters as well.
The song I'll add relates to yesterdays George Winston comments.
Iconic Vince G as played by George.

As always...have a nice day all.

@Arrow
part, I saw Schultx and immediately thought I'd include him and use Charlie Bown by the coasters, but when I went to do it, I realized that I've use the Coasters a lot (relatively speaking) and that "Peanuts" is rarely heard, little known, and more or less started the whole falsetto r&r thing, so I went that way instead.

Thanks for dropping in.

Another sunny day in my corner of the world. Usually we're getting our winter rain now, but it is dry! I plan to burn my lower field (about 10 acres) this week to promote next year's wildflowers. Otherwise the grasses dominate and trees come in...the forest is the normal ecosystem.

I wish I had seen the Chestnut dominated forest of 100 years ago. When I lived outside Boone NC, there were giant Chestnut trunks still laying on the ridge tops. I've heard that there is a large surviving Chestnut tree in nearby Walker Co. GA, but I've not seen it. We have a few Chestnut relatives on our place...the Chinquapin.

@Lookout ca 30 years ago, neighbors showed me the remains of a chestnut tree, still stump-sprouting.Now the ash trees are threatened due to the emerald borer. Hemlocks from the wooly ageldid (sp?). It's a battle out there! I can still see the elm tree skeletons on field margins here.

Rain overnight, slight snow dusting on the decks this morning. Heard a few gun pops at 7, deer hunting is going on, and I may have an unannounced hunter. Still trying to track that one down. Less deer hunting pressure than in years past here on the Hill.

Rumor has it it may improve to sunny, but chilly today. Another downward deflection in my health improvement. A good Sunday to those who get one.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

spectaular. In a similar vein, I really regret never seeing the San Joaquin valley filled with the majectic Valley Oaks (quercus lobata). Thanks mucho for the Dylan.

Saturday news dump? MexicoNewsDaily: Agency invalidates Monsanto GM permit

Agriculture sanitation authority Senasica has revoked a permit held by Monsanto to commercialize genetically modified soy in seven Mexican states.

The agency said the company had not complied with biosecurity controls and failed to prevent risks that the genetically modified organisms (GMO) pose to the environment.

The decision came after transgenic soybeans cultivated by Monsanto were detected outside areas authorized for sowing of the genetically-modified seeds, causing what Senasica described as “serious or irreversible damage to the environment.”

Go MX, maybe they can revive their native corn industry too. Their headlines are full of horrible violence and corruption, just like here but more violent. US government is stupid to build a wall, we should be helping them not hurting them. Don't be stupid.
--- US History this day
Tower Commission Report Excerpts

[...] The N.S.C. staff rather than the C.I.A. seemed to be running the operation. The President appeared to be unaware of key elements of the operation. The controversy threatened a crisis of confidence in the manner in which national security decisions are made and the role played by the N.S.C. staff.

It was this latter set of concerns that prompted the President to establish this special review board on Dec. 1, 1986. The President directed the board to examine the proper role of the National Security Council staff in national security operations, including the arms transfers to Iran. The President made clear that he wanted ''all the facts to come out.''

The board was not, however, called upon to assess individual culpability or be the final arbiter of the facts. These tasks have been properly left to others. Indeed, the short deadline set by the President for completion of the board's work and its limited resources precluded a separate and thorough field investigation. Instead, the board has examined the events surrounding the transfer of arms to Iran as a principal case study in evaluating the operation of the National Security Council in general and the role of the N.S.C. staff in particular.

The President gave the board a broad charter. It was directed to conduct ''a comprehensive study of the future role and procedures of the National Security Council (N.S.C.) staff in the development, coordination, oversight and conduct of foreign and national security policy.'' See Appendix A., Executive Order No. 12575.

That reads like "figure out how to control all opposition", mostly. Goal achieved (except for a few dumb contractors like Booz-Allen, still on the job). NSA had 93,000 contractors under pay when Snowden left. Duh.

The thought of Katherine Harris gives me a stomach ache. Good time for some calming tea and music. Happy Sunday.

plate, but the WTO will probably beat up on them for it. The WTO really needs to be eliminated or reined in.

Can't help but wonder how much the CIA hid from the Tower Commission.
