The White Working Class

Don't blame Meteor Man. That's what The American Prospect decided to call a series of articles about the demographic voters the Democratic party needs to turn out if they ever want to win another Presidential election.

Assuming, of course, the Democratic party manages to stop Republican gerrymandering, purging voter rolls and hacking black box voting and the human species survives the Trump Presidency.

There is also an article about "Why The White Working Class Theme Is Harmful",which I heartily agree with:
http://prospect.org/article/why-white-worker-theme-harmful

The series itself also includes pushback on the "white working class" narrative:

The Democrats don’t have a “white working-class problem.” They have a “working-class problem,” which progressives have been reluctant to address honestly or boldly. The fact is that Democrats have lost support with all working-class voters across the electorate, including the Rising American Electorate of minorities, unmarried women, and millennials. This decline contributed mightily to the Democrats’ losses in the states and Congress and to the election of Donald Trump.

This article points out the obvious problem that Obama and Hillary both sucked and why, including Obama's push for TPP.

The series is extensive and well worth browsing through:

There was an old medieval-set cartoon series, and in one panel, a sea of peasants with pitchforks is seen out a castle window, with a courtier running to the king, saying, "The peasants are revolting!" The king, looking bored, says, "They certainly are."

That's us, and Them.

That's The Wizard of Id, if I recall correctly......

After a couple decades my resentment about that phrase eventually turned in to lulz because ~shrug~ identity politics. Marriage is about property and ownership, "That's the system". I don't care much for it, and it doesn't care for me back. Being defined my whole life in legal terms as an "unmarried woman" really says it all, I think. Why are there no "unmarried men" in legalese? Don't answer.

People sound stupid saying "misogynist" for hating the female Clinton, it's not about her gender it's about her policies, that's for sure. Look up the word hate, it means strong dislike last time I checked. Whatever, take your pick of words it's all b.s., all propaganda intended to deceive one sector or another, keep everyone divided up. Good job.

There actually are. Although not added to recently, the Unmarried America website does contain lots of good info on today's unmarried majority in America.

It isn't just unmarried women. But if the powers that be admitted that for every unmarried woman there's also an unmarried man out there, they'd have to face the fact that there are more unmarried than married adults in this country. And that's not a reality they want to face, for a plethora of reasons!

EDIT: In any event, the linked article should have simply referred to "the unmarried", rather than "unmarried women".

I'm of course referring to Kshama Sawant during that whole McWomens' March clusterfuck. She was one of the few genuine leaders out there but the media covered the CIA plant (Gloria Steinem) and Hillary's South Florida Poodle (Debbie Wasserman Schultz) instead.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

@The Aspie Corner She can't run for president because she was born in India (time to amend that relic in the Constitution, by the way, and put the birthers permanently to bed). But she shows what a real Socialist looks like. And kudos for the Seattle minimum wage increase.

@SancheLlewellyn thanks I think I have same respect for her like I do Bernie, but she has taken a lot more cash from lobbyists in the short time she's held office compared to him. I know they are both refusing PAC money now, but what about dark money? It's the 501c4's that are ruining the place, that's what I think. And the 527s, and blah blah blah. Keep making elections about money, you get what you pay for hopefully. Or not.

Frankly, I'd rather not see any more military-minded people in office, even if they do start asking "Who will be the last man to die for Afghanistan?" or whatever. I wonder how she feels toward Pakistan, and why aren't they part of the new super duper railway system being built over there? India and Pakistan need to be making peace, not raising hostility. Any words on that? More peace makers are needed, I hope she is one for real, and not just another tool of Ds to GOTV.

Imagine all the good dailykos' actblue could be doing with their money, instead of pouring it down the electoral consultant rat hole. Imagine constant fundraising for affordable housing, community gardens, stuff like that, year after year. That would be something great to see.

duopoly, the duopoly is the opposition, that includes the democratic party. It's the opposition because it is a political party controlled by the oligarchy which is opposed to the working class and those who want to work but can't for some reason class, i.e., the fucking peasants.
Articles like this are from people stuck in the democratic party, unable to see outside of this duopoly political system and unable to frame or conceptualize anything outside this bogus system.

@Meteor Man @Meteor Man This.

What is someone to do who wants to run for office?

1) Pick one of the duopoly, which then means you follow their power structure and bow your head, unable to change anything.
2) Go Independent and hope for the best in being able to not only beat the corruption in the system and the two parties, but also to get people to break free from their shackles of the duopoly
3) Go third party and follow the steps of #2.

Cause yes, I'm tired of all of this. Of not only nothing changing, but people not looking beyond a very narrow paradigm of thought. People get so stuck in the duopoly. You vote for such garbage for decades and nothing changes. But what do people do? Continue to vote for it anyway. It's maddening.

@Big Al Robert Urie's Counter Punch article on plutocracy is an epic shake down of the duopoly.
I worry that if the 99% truly rose up against them, we would find ourselves cut off from food, water, fuel, even cash.
The duopoly has not shied away from killing us slowly. Would they really be all that hesitant to kill us quickly?

is that if anyone were serious even a little bit about making the people secure and thriving you'd first have to have fair and speedy trials followed by quick implementation of the penalties for the criminal banker class.

At the same time all the Forever War would have to be abandoned and the military establishments carefully spread throughout all the States and Congressional Districts would have to be turned to making things we really need.

Both necessities, if met, mean the loss of really really lots of money. The dilemma of how to win elections while not addressing the people's needs, can only be solved by, first, NOT pissing off the donors; then, using some of that money to come up with clever slogans as well as play up division as much as possible.

How could not serving the public, indeed even vilifying large parts of it, while getting tons of $$$ possibly fail?

Orwell: Where's the omelette?

Hillary used to identify "her" demographic in 2008. Of course, in 2016, she changed her story considerably.

"Hard-working white people" is not the same wording as "working class white people," which simply identifies a segment of the population, though by race. In 2008, when Hills assumed the black vote would go to Obama, she was dog whistling, à la Lee Atwater about allegedly lazy black people on welfare. Deplorable!

Certain segments of the US population have historically (at least since the 1960s) voted Democratic. no matter what. As Democrats, in deed, though not word, betray all but the rich, and people become more aware of that, the vote will change. Problem is, it's likely already too late to matter.

@irishking I have asked that a lot, and mostly got in response: 1)people telling me I'm racist, 2)people not saying anything. Then finally, one woman on Anoa's show said "There's a reason they call it the Dirty South." And she basically said that the Clintons had gone on the circuit handing out money--all the big churches and other community centers, all the big wigs in the various communities.

I don't know if that's true, but it's the only actual answer I ever heard in response to this question. All else is inarticulate rage-wailings coming from a box of Instant Social Justice Pudding Pops.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
