21st Century Corporate Propaganda

propaganda-russia-cover-final.jpg

W.T.F... ?

Seriously, this image is one of the most blatant pieces of propaganda I've seen in my entire life. And the published piece is completely bonkers too.

I would excerpt some shit, and it is shit, but I just don't have the time nor energy to track down all the half truths. Having been quite interested in domestic spying, tech, and the corporate state, the shit peddled in this article is just completely fraudulent.

I'm not going to lie. This really scared me. It's the kind of propaganda you can't attack. The imagery is a complete "fact" to a shit ton of people. We're going to dismantle democracy to get Donald Drumpf.

I recommend you all read the piece, and that's no easy task, it is a hard read.

And please, call this shit out as naked corporate propaganda. Fight the good fight.

The White House has become a Russian Orthodox cathedral?

But seriously, you could pretty much superimpose an image of the WH on any famous building across the globe, given a very meddlesome Federal Government.

@Bollox Ref Bradd Jaffy

sent out a tweet lauding the story and the image, and called it "White House/Kremlin" not knowing it's a cathedral not the Kremlin.

https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/865164921054666752

Actually it's not clear whether US media doesn't know the difference or they use St Basil's because it's better for propaganda because Kremlin building doesn't give the scary Red Square vibe that we know from the last Cold War. This isn't the first time someone has crafted a magazine cover image merging the White House and St Basil Cathedral representing it as the Russian White House.

But Jaffy was retweeted 2500 times and even after many people told him it wasn't the Kremlin, he didn't correct it. He's an NBC "senior editor" and he's all propaganda all day long.

Obama fucked over the country big time during the eight years he was in power. Only a Democrat can effectively destroy true democratic policies.

Obama Quietly Signs The "Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act" Into Law
By Tyler Durden
Created 12/26/2016
...
NOTE: The bipartisan Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act is organized around two main priorities to help achieve the goal of combatting the constantly evolving threat of foreign disinformation from our enemies:

The first priority is developing a whole-of-government strategy for countering THE foreign propaganda and disinformation being wages against us and our allies by our enemies. The bill would increase the authority, resources, and mandate of the Global Engagement Center to include state actors like Russia and China as well as non-state actors. The Center will be led by the State Department, but with the active senior level participation of the Department of Defense, USAID, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, the Intelligence Community, and other relevant agencies. The Center will develop, integrate, and synchronize whole-of-government initiatives to expose and counter foreign disinformation operations by our enemies and proactively advance fact-based narratives that support U.S. allies and interests.

Second, the legislation seeks to leverage expertise from outside government to create more adaptive and responsive U.S. strategy options. The legislation establishes a fund to help train local journalists and provide grants and contracts to NGOs, civil society organizations, think tanks, private sector companies, media organizations, and other experts outside the U.S. government with experience in identifying and analyzing the latest trends in foreign government disinformation techniques. This fund will complement and support the Center’s role by integrating capabilities and expertise available outside the U.S. government into the strategy-making process. It will also empower a decentralized network of private sector experts and integrate their expertise into the strategy-making process.

* * *

And so, with the likes of WaPo having already primed the general public [11]to equate "Russian Propaganda" with "fake news" (despite admitting after the fact their own report was essentially "fake [12]"), while the US media has indoctrinated the public to assume that any information which is not in compliance with the official government narrative, or dares to criticize the establishment, is also "fake news" and thus falls under the "Russian propaganda" umbrella, the scene is now set for the US government to legally crack down on every media outlet that the government deems to be "foreign propaganda."

Just like that, the US Ministry of Truth is officially born.

"proactively advance fact-based narratives that support U.S. allies and interests"

OK but how about proactively advancing utter bullshit narratives that support US "allies and interests"? Which is what WaPo and NYT are already doing, and what these DARPA creeps evidently want to do a lot more of. To protect us poor vulnerable citizens of course, from having our feeble minds polluted by anyone the USG deems to be an "enemy". Or more accurately, an enemy of US "allies and interests"... whatever the hell they are supposed to be.

This whole business stinks to high heaven. A good article about it here:

Several choices as to rationale: they know what they want to make us think and, perhaps more importantly, not think; megalomaniacs and psychopaths always think that they are waaaaay smarter than other people, so that other people have to have their minds and perceptions controlled by their betters; some of the pathologically greedy/micromanaging control billionaires/corporate interests just can't stand the idea of anyone having anything else, neither money/property nor rights. And they're working on that and have been achieving it, especially in America, for some time.

But as long as we aren't in a position to impose our views on or creating harm to others, we have a right to be wrong. They don't have a right to limit what we can normally see or read on the internet (apart from some exceptions; child porn, actual animal cruelty inflicted for thrills, potentially murderous incitements on hate sites - any really sick stuff which causes harm to the vulnerable and portrays this as exciting and acceptable) or try to brainwash us.

To err is human, as is the conviction that you're more right than the other guy. (Especially when you know the other guy's a propagandist.)

to fuck with the minds of the great unwashed. It demonstrates the massive strength, reach and capabilities of the Russian cyber-warriors and proves there is no effective remedy short of reducing many of the freedoms the people of America currently enjoy by censoring the intertubes.

For many Americans, Russian hacking remains a story about the 2016 election. But there is another story taking shape. Marrying a hundred years of expertise in influence operations to the new world of social media, Russia may finally have gained the ability it long sought but never fully achieved in the Cold War: to alter the course of events in the U.S. by manipulating public opinion. The vast openness and anonymity of social media has cleared a dangerous new route for antidemocratic forces. "Using these technologies, it is possible to undermine democratic government, and it's becoming easier every day," says Rand Waltzman of the Rand Corp., who ran a major Pentagon research program to understand the propaganda threats posed by social media technology.

Never before in the history of the United States of America has this country been so threatened. We must rise up in unison and put away our petty personal grievances such as minimum wage and health care. These become meaningless if we lose that which is most important and precious to us as a nation, our American Democracy, which is the bright beacon that shines upon every corner of the world bringing hope, peace and prosperity to the downtrodden.

Let us stand proud with our hands to our hearts and fight this evil together.

The Neocons and the “deep state” have neutered the Trump Presidency, it’s over folks! (UPDATED 2x)
83156 Views February 14, 2017 303 Comments

Less than a month ago I warned that a ‘color revolution ‘ was taking place in the USA. My first element of proof was the so-called “investigation” which the CIA, FBI, NSA and others were conducting against President Trump’s candidate to become National Security Advisor, General Flynn. Tonight, the plot to get rid of Flynn has finally succeeded and General Flynn had to offer his resignation. Trump accepted it.

Now let’s immediately get one thing out of the way: Flynn was hardly a saint or a perfect wise man who would single handedly saved the world. That he was not. However, what Flynn was is the cornerstone of Trump’s national security policy. For one thing, Flynn dared the unthinkable: he dared to declare that the bloated US intelligence community had to be reformed. Flynn also tried to subordinate the CIA and the Joint Chiefs to the President via the National Security Council. Put differently, Flynn tried to wrestle the ultimate power and authority from the CIA and the Pentagon and subordinate them back to the White House. Flynn also wanted to work with Russia. Not because he was a Russia lover, the notion of a Director of the DIA as a Putin-fan is ridiculous, but Flynn was rational, he understood that Russia was no threat to the USA or to Europe and that Russia had the West had common interests. That is another absolutely unforgivable crimethink in Washington DC.

I tried to read this pos propaganda, but I stopped when I got to Russia invading Ukraine in 2014. Now that propaganda is working here because so many people say the exact same thing. And that Russia stole Crimea during that time. No matter how many times people point out what Nuland said about spending $5 billion to get Yahtzee installed.

It described how Russia had already moved on from the rudimentary email hacks against politicians it had used in 2016

So there was more than just the DNC and Podesta's emails that were hacked ? I haven't heard that. Oh well, I didn't hear most of the things that the author wrote.
Wow, we are going to have to very diligent and make sure that Russia doesn't change how this country was formed. They might change our history. If they change it and tells kids the truth about Columbus, what they did to the Native Americans and the real reasons why our country has gone from country to country and killing people and destroying their country, then I wouldn't mind if they changed our history.
K9disc, I think that we have to fight back against this type of propaganda and fight back hard. There is no way that I am going to swallow this type of crap and watch as our country slithers off to another war that might include nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, most of my family is on board with the Russian interference of not only our election, but of Europe's elections too.

since the media lost interest in being "market based" and instead started shoving shit down our throats. The whole "fascination" with celebrity was cultivated - it didn't originate with the people. Remember Anna Nicole Smith's death? She was no one, but they ran stories for months as if we were trying to lick up every last little morsel we could about her. The people were sick of hearing about it. We didn't realize it at the time, but we were being trained.

Now, with more media outlets than ever, we get about 90% less legitimate news stories and a ton of crap about celebrities, feel good stories and crime/criminals/murderers. ABC regularly spews Disney advertisements masquerading as "news". Since when did the people demand to know the weekly results of "Dancing with the Stars" in our news broadcasts?

Recently I've noticed that every daytime talk show now spends a good deal of time providing product advertising during their non-ad time. I mean, The Price is Right was always a continuous ad but now it's seeping into the talk shows. Don't they realize we don't have enough money to buy all their crap anymore?

Fortunately for Russia, this gross interference in the democracy of a foreign country by the US inadvertently set up the conditions for Putin to get elected in 2000.

Putin put an end to the American depredation and pillaging of Russia and, within 10 years he had pulled his country from the ashes to remake the country strong and vibrant.

The US power elite will NEVER forgive Putin for snatching their hard won prize from their rapacious jaws. Fifty years of western machinations, lies and deceit, costing untold hundreds of billions of dollars, all gone up in a puff of smoke due to the work and skills of just one man - Putin. This is why he is so reviled and denigrated by the west and so loved by the Russians. Unlike the majority of Americans, Russians know and remember their history.

The only thing I could think of to reply was, " a little dramatic." This propaganda is disturbing.

the Russians would consider it a success if you questioned the truth of your news sources

They cannot possibly have said "Don't question what we tell you", can they? Nobody would be that blatant... or so I would've thought.

Don't question legacy media. That's hilarious.

A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

@SnappleBC I say keep it up, MSM. Things got to the point in the old Soviet bloc that literally no one believed the state news. We are fast approaching that day here.

Lol, they know it's implausible nonsense just as well as we do, but under the assumption that WE don't think, they focus so hard on trying to make people not think about/question such questionable bobunk that they don't think at all and so make themselves endearingly obvious. Well, perhaps endearing isn't quite the term...

But, yeah, you shouldn't question what your betters tell you.

Pacifica radio and such. One program was airing clips from the new movie, which I just found on youtube, The Dubious Friends Of Donald Trump. The movie looks like good investigative journalism into some pretty scary business ties Trump has had with Russian oligarchs. Here is the movie, just in case anyone doubted how f**ked we all are:

There's a lot of unconfirmed speculation and innuendo in this 'movie'. I've watched the first ten minutes and it's not worth my time if it continues in this vein.

One of the problems is that the connections that Trump had/has with Russia date back to the period when US backed oligarchs were pillaging the Russian economy right after the fall of the USSR. These Russian oligarchs were pulling $1 to $2 billion out of the country every month during the 1990's at the very same time as the IMF and US Treasury Department was loaning Russia tens of billions in support of Yeltsin. They were looking for ways to launder their ill gotten gains and were investing in properties in London and New York. Putin put a stop to the worst excesses of this theft of Russian resources. Of course, it is SOP to blame Putin for these crimes.

@Timmethy2.0 I would just like someone to explain to me why Trump's business dealings with Russian oligarchs are any scarier than the Bushes' dealings with the Saudi royals. Until someone can explain that, I'm inclined to see these business dealings as business as usual. And if we've decided that business as usual is unacceptable, then I want to see an expose of the foreign dealings and business interests of everyone involved in the federal government now or at any time during the past, say, 15 years, from Congressmen all the way up to the President. From the Bush administration through the Trump administration.

If we're going to clean these Augean stables, let's get to it. If not, then explain what makes Trump so different from all the rest, or stop wasting my time with PR.

The show is called Up Front. KPFA is currently doing a fundraiser so you have to listen to fundraising breaks too. During the breaks one of the hosts was saying that she was skeptical at first, but she looked up everything from the movie on the internet, and it's all right there for everybody to see.

@Timmethy2.0
and the Times propaganda piece that Trump is a Russian puppet and is allowing the Russian government (Kremlin) to take over the US presidency?

Your movie is about Trump's connections to the Russian oligarchs and mafia. It was the American government itself which created the conditions for their rise and spread in the first place.

Russian oligarchs: What you need to know

They are probably best known in the West for owning football clubs, newspapers and big, big yachts.

But who are the Russian oligarchs, how did they come to be so astonishingly wealthy and how much influence do they have in Russia now?

BBC Russian's Yevgeny Kanevsky explains the background.

@Timmethy2.0 Seems if there is some collusion, Putin did not get back any value with Trump. Here a few of the things which Trump has done (all from memory).

Sanctions will not be lifted. Exxon got no exception to sanctions. Trump bombed now twice a major Russian ally. Halley in the UN has skewered Russian on almost everything. Blamed all re-newed fighting on Russia in Ukraine. Halley wanted to put sanctions on Syria. Did Tillerson say that Russia invaded the Ukraine? Putin must give back Crimea to Ukraine. Troops not removed from Russian borders--seems to have increased. Pledged loyalty to NATO. New monies, alot of new monies, for new nuclear weapons. Mattis Calls Russia "Biggest Threat".

As of right now, and I could be limited in what I have seen, Trump's administration has not done the Russians whether private or Putin, any solid favors--in fact, quite the opposite. And some of the rhetoric from certain administration officials has been toxic toward the Russians.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal @Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal When reading the worst propaganda, there is the unstated and unchallenged assumption that any contact with any Russian is automatically nefarious, illegal, and treasonous. If someone puts Trump in the same room as some Russian oligarch, that is not enough. If there are criminal dealings, okay then, provide some reasonable proof beyond just mere association. By this logic, anybody with substantial money in HSBC is tied to Mexican drug cartels.

Edited: some horridly constructed sentences.

Sorry, I tried to read that bizarre Times article, especially considering that the propensity for projection indicates that this is likely stuff they're doing themselves, but I couldn't manage it.

If the US Supreme Court was a legitimate and uncorrupted Court, such unconstitutional and illegal laws as the one Obama passed purportedly 'legalizing' the use of government propaganda against their own public in defiance of the qualifying-for-office oath to uphold the Constitutional rights of all Americans throughout all States of the Union, and the rescinding of Habeus Corpus could be tossed out - but then, those and such as Citizen's United and so many other unconstitutional and illegal abuses would never have been given the false patina of law for public optics and self-interest control.

It'll all have to to be Bernt down to start fresh...
