OT WE 26 MAR 25 ~ Living in a fantasy world

With a reality based notion.
~

Synoptic clashes are bound to occur. This ain't no hollyweird movie. This realization
is based on bountiful evidence in actual human interactions. Today.

Shows like Father Knows Best, Leave It To Beaver or Mr. Ed
tried to depict this idealized suburban family fantasy. Nobody I know swallowed it. We were
left wondering how the dream passed us by. Without effecting circumstances in real time.

~

The false realities being presented now are much more intricate and sophisticated.
Opposing 'truths' are both equally valid in this new mind scape. Confusion abounds.
Rational problem solving is not encouraged by the entertainment industry, among
others.

Where do we grow from here? Open thread so toss in your treasures.

I hope everyone's spring is unfolding nicely. It has been lovely here.

To my mind, staying rooted in nature helps to keep reality in focus. Today I'm putting out wood chips on the garden paths. Always something to do...which is good.

Hope all is well in your world. Thanks for the OT!

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

So, the newest great thing in the health industry is the development of AI nurses. Everything you say will be recorded. Will those recordings be true, correct, and unedited in times of medical malpractice litigation? Who will have access to the chats?
Oh, well, I gotta get to work.
Thanks for the OT, dear friend!

Of all the technologies we have been sold on with assurances that they will greatly be for our benefit, none is more terrifying than AI based medicine. Only half a step away from the cervical data cable so vividly portrayed in The Matrix.

my yearly 'wellness check' has the blood test fiasco.
Invariably, I am told by the doc a laundry list of specialty
tests are indicated, as the results are not within a narrow
means. No thanks. Life at 70 is not ideal by any stretch.
The attempts to hijack your health for medical profit is
rampant in the industry. Once I refused to indicate my gender
on a form and caught hell because it messed up their program.

Good to hear from you.

is for access to lab work, and ready access to the affiliated hospital for accidents and emergency services if needed. I have indicated my intentions to live out the remainder of my life jab and prescription free. Allopathic medicine is racket that assures an endless treadmill of new profitable patent products to deal with side effects. There are some hopeful decentralized practitioners trying to make a go of it, but medical associations cartels and big pharma are doing their best to snuff them out.

I’ve watched too many friends and family go all in, on their way out, with profit-centric medicine. I’ll take my chances with a healthy lifestyle and diet, off patent meds and perhaps some willow bark, cannabis and fungi on the side.

(D): Russiagate and eventually they'll do something for us. Rotating villains are so kewl! We can win the war in Ukraine, Gaza, and China with gold-plated crap, so let's stiff disaster relief! Everything is fine, especially when we're responding to people who say it's not.

(R): Seal the borders and deport a bunch of people, something the Dems are better at because they do it with less publicity. Gitmo or something. Being bloodthirsty is Christian. The Constitution is for losers, which is why we wrap ourselves in it. Nobody needs the Federal government except billionaires. Lower taxes but only for rich people.

In liability cases especially. A possible new specialty: determining responsibility in suits against
misdiagnosis made by a machine. How to levy a fine against against a bunch of circuits? Are the
programmers at fault, the companies employing said coders, human doctors for allowing unreviewed
diagnosis, or insurance companies, government non-regulators ad infinitum. Short cuts to increase profits
seems to be capitalist way. At least China is controlling facial recognition tech and reigning-in AI use.

Give 'em hell counselor.

When I was in the third grade, I believed, with all the fervor of a 21st century internet agenda troll, that anything written in a book was ironclad truth. My parents had subscribed to the Weekly Reader Book Club for me, and one of the books I got was a non-fiction tome, called The Planets. It related the "facts" about each of the 9 planets of the solar system including size, mass, orbit period and rotation period.

I was shocked and indignant when my 3rd grade science teacher, Mr. Kirkpatrick, told our class something different from what the book said about the planet, Mercury. If I recall correctly, it was on the vital question of the rotation period -- the length in hours or days of the "day" on Mercury. The following day, I brought my book with me to school and I got my first lesson about "facts" and reality. A third grader with a book in his hands vs. Mr. Kirkpatrick was resolved the old fashioned way -- with power.

Of course, the irony is that my 1962 book is long obsolete, and both my book and my teacher were all "wrong" as the authority of science has revised its estimate of Mercury's rotation period. 62 years later, I have long since forgotten the three different asserted facts but I still vividly recall the frustration I felt as a nine-year-old boy when Mr. Kirkpatrick pulled rank on me.

As an adult I made peace with the question of authority by recognizing that everybody is a liar at one time or another and that pompous assertions about The Facts are the surest tell of bullshit.

Today instead of books, we have bloggers who preach to particular market niches and there are contemporaries in our careening civilization who cite blog presentations as The Facts.

Oy ve.

How 'white papers' from 'think tanks' become regime policy.
The imagined authority of experts trumps reason and good sense.
Half-assed theories repeated enough become accepted facts.
Seems consistent thru history. If nothing else, is does encourage radical ideology.

Thanks for posting.

The most effective propaganda is when those fantasies become part of our understanding of reality. When we come to believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5. Caitlin Johnston has always said that the work of the elites is for narrative control.

Only someone who has had a beagle could capture Snoopy. Their personality is so much different from other dawgs. Most have a habit of ignoring what their owners say to them.

Charlie was the best minded beagle I had because she was taught by Abby. When I said come she actually did. I never got over that. It surprised me every time.

Four U.S. Army soldiers were missing Wednesday in Lithuania after disappearing during a training exercise, the U.S. embassy in Vilnius said in a statement posted on social media, thanking the Baltic nation's military and police for helping American forces search for them.

The embassy said in a post on social media that the troops went missing from a training area near Pabrade, near Lithuania's far eastern border with Belarus, a nation closely allied with Russia. The embassy did not say when the soldiers went missing.

"The soldiers, all from 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, were conducting scheduled tactical training at the time of the incident," the embassy's statement said. "Search and recovery efforts are underway."

Lithuanian news outlet Delfi said the soldiers went missing along with a tracked vehicle, which typically refers to a tank or armored personnel carriers.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981

with regards to his tariff announcements?

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/trump-tariffs-live-updates-trump-set...

President Trump's tariffs are reshaping US trade policy and overhauling decades of free-trade agreements with friend and foe alike.

Trump is just more than a week away from potentially imposing so-called retaliatory tariffs on all US trade partners. That could happen as soon as April 2, a day Trump has taken to calling "Liberation Day."

The market is keen to find out how broad those duties will end up, and Trump has provided mixed signals. He has signaled "flexibility" and plans to give "a lot of countries breaks" as speculation has centered on the "dirty 15," or the roughly 15% of countries with a trade balance unfavorable to the US. Subsequently, Trump has said he doesn't want "too many" exemptions on the like-for-like tariffs.

Meanwhile, the White House press secretary confirmed Trump will unveil new tariffs on autos later on Wednesday.

Here's the latest on where things stand on various other, related fronts:

Steel and aluminum: A 25% US tariff on imports of steel and aluminum from all countries took effect on Wednesday, March 12.

European Union: The EU has responded to those metals duties with counter-tariffs on $28 billion in US goods from April, bringing Trump's trade war across the Atlantic. However, the EU delayed the implementation of some of those tariffs until mid-April — including a 50% duty on American whiskey, which had prompted Trump to threaten a 200% tariff on European spirits.

Canada and Mexico: Trump's 25% across-the-board tariffs on its US neighbors went into effect on Tuesday, March 4. Just two days later, Trump confirmed the US would pause tariffs on goods and services compliant with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) until April 2. For its part, Canada retaliated to the steel and aluminum tariffs with new duties on about $20 billion of US goods. The two countries have agreed to new trade talks.

China: Trump has enacted new blanket tariffs of around 20% on top of existing 10% duties that went into place during Trump's first term. China has responded with up to 15% duties on US farm goods such as chicken and pork, which went into effect Monday, March 10.

Venezuela: Trump said the US will impose a "secondary tariff" on Venezuela, to take effect on April 2 — any country that buys oil or gas from Venezuela would face a 25% tariff when trading with the US.

In a big legal deveopment earlier today, a division of the Seoul High Court (criminal) declared Democratic Party Leader Lee Jae-myung innocent on all charges concerning alleged lying during his presidential campaign. This removes a road block to Lee becoming the opposition Democratic Party's presidential candidate if Yoon Seok-yeol impeachment is upheld by the Constitutional Court. The prosecution will probably appeal, but even if they do, it will probably not be heard before an election held within sixty days if Yoon is dismissed from office. Frankly, this is what the CC stalling is all about, which I discussed in my prior post.

Yoon's attempt to illegally impose martial law on December 3 is always described in Western media as "short lived." The military attack on the National Assembly, the National Election Commission, and other targets, was ordered by Yoon and there is plenty of video and other evidence. This attempt to overthrow the constitutional order is not yet over until Yoon is dismissed from office. If Yoon is in fact dismissed from the presidential office, the election for another president must be held within 60 days.

Terrible wild fires in Southeaster South Korea. One 1300 year old Silla kingdom Buddhist temple destroyed. Hanhoe folk village threatened. One helicopter lost. 24 lives lost last count. It's terrible. Maybe coming rain will help.
