Disability Caucus 2/27/2017: What Jobs? They're Lying.
Today I went on yet another car ride with the employment specialist across the county to follow up on jobs I know I'll never even be considered for.
Stop being negative, she says. Bah. I've spent 15 fuckin' years with Voc Rehab and despite spending years in college completing 2 degree programs, holding several intern and volunteer positions over 3 years during and after college, I still can't get a single god damned employer to take me seriously.
What the hell do they want, for me to suck their fuckin' dicks and call it ice cream? Yeah, sorry. Not happening.
Oh, and in the same week, I got yet another denial from Social Security, even when it's blatantly obvious I qualify for it. I also still have to deal with the work participation bullshit because I'm still waiting for DCF to exempt me due to the fact that I'm working with Voc Rehab.
This is what we have to deal with in Right-wing Neoliberal America, ladies and gentlemen. Nobody is ever going to give 2 fucks about us no matter how much lip service they pay to the contrary. Opportunities for REAL, gainful employment for people with disabilities will never, ever exist. Not now. Not ever. Not under the current system. So what the fuck do we do?
See ya around,
Aspie

You may have done this
But appeal and keep appealing. You might get a decent judge and win.
The SSDI system is broken and has been for too long
If people have proof of their disabilities and it's backed up by doctors then they need to be accepted. Period.
There's no reason for denying people just because the judges who have no medical experience want to.
I had 5 doctors saying that I was unemployable and the judge basically shrugged his shoulders and said "meh"
There's too much money wasted on hearings after hearings, lawyers and all the support staff and everything else that involved in the program.
I'm sorry that you are stuck in the system.
Weren't you once on it? I don't remember the details of your case.

As a child, yes.
@Snoopydawg Then they switched me to survivor's benefits just before my father passed and I've been working like hell to either overcome it or get back on it ever since. It doesn't matter one lick that I have decades of medical documents proving my disabilities and almost as much showing I'm unemployable. And that includes the recent ASD diagnosis.

I assume that you have a lawyer who is involved with your case?
If so what is your lawyer doing for you and what does s/h say about your prospects?
I got stuck in the worker's comp system which is much worse than the SS programs. I wasn't allowed to be involved in my case, only the lawyers and judges were.
Injured patients sat in a waiting room while waiting to hear what was discussed and if I wasn't happy with the results I would have to sit and wait until they were able to go in front of the judge again and see if they could work something else out. Rinse and repeat every damned time I had to go through the court system. I think it took over 10 court decisions and 5 years since I was injured until I finally had surgery. The new rules are that work comp only has to pay benefits for two years now whether people are recovered or not. And the insurance companies deny and delay hoping that people get tired of the system and gives up.
Again the amount of money spent on defense lawyers, the judges and their staff plus the building costs must have been staggering.
The work comp system is just as broken as the SS programs.
And I'd advise anyone who gets injured at work to try and go through your regular insurance because it has gotten much more asininely worse since I was injured almost 20 years ago.
Good luck with your case and I hope that you will get your benefits soon.

My view of SS & workman's comp
Workman's Comp is a snakepit and a large DC law firm working only in the civil service sector that I am very familiar with, refuses to take these cases because they cannot give a prospective client a realistic appraisal of that person's chances of winning or losing. It is a system that seems to benefit only that system. Nobody likes it or has a good word to say about it.
Best of luck to anyone that has to appeal to these venues...WC is the poorer of the two though.

Not much into lying?
So she wants you to lie to her face. In a way she'd believe you.
If you were that great a liar, you'd already have steady work as some sort of Third Way Democrat politician somewhere!
Grrrrr!!

I'll be getting a lawyer after this one.
@Snoopydawg This isn't my first rodeo with regards to social security. I was denied 10 times in 5 years myself and thought maybe education could make it so I wouldn't have to rely upon it. Boy was I wrong.
