What needs to happen right now?

These are some very preliminary observations. Please feel free to add, chime in, share your thoughts.

1. Chuckie Schumer must not be the new Minority Leader. He is personally responsible for the Senate losses in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. With the exception of Van Holland in MD, his hand picked conservadem stuffed suits and blazers lost races that could have been won. We can start sending emails, petitions etc. to our senators right now. All of a sudden the Clinton patronage is not looking so good; time to remind these ladies and gentlemen that we made them and we can take them out.

2. I don't know who is responsible for the sad list of lame congressional candidates the Democratic Party put up this year, but Nancy Pelosi has outlived her usefulness as House Minority Leader. She was good at it in her day, but that day is long past.

3. Bernie Sanders is no longer a Democrat, and who can blame him? He should be given all due honor, but not the DNC chairmanship, and besides that, Markos should not be allowed to decide anything other what he wants for dinner ever again. My nominee for DNC chair would be Alan Greyson, with Nina Turner and Donna Edwards for his deputies. That is if anyone is interested in bringing back us demexiters.

4. The Clinton Foundation needs to cough up the millions or is it billions which were generously donated from around the world for the relief of the suffering people of Haiti. Those funds should be turned over to representatives of the people of Haiti. The Clintons could then be allowed to retire with the rest of their gains to perhaps Diego Garcia, with the understanding that they can be indicted if they ever set foot off the island again. They should not be pardoned but parolled. Chelsea, who apparently did try to find out what was up with the foundation could perhaps be granted a pardon with the understanding that she devotes herself to her children and does not seek to enter public life again. I know all that sounds far fetched but I would guess that Bill is even now frantically working the phones to see what kind of deal he can get to keep them both out of jail.

There is plenty more that needs to happen in the middle and long term, but this diary is about right now. Please do share your own ideas.

. . . support local talent like: Political newcomer Melissa Freelend of Kearney defeated incumbent Ron Larsen of Kearney in his bid for a third term on the Nebraska Public Power District Board of Directors.

One of the last things I was able to do before moving out of Nebraska was to vote for someone planning to make this place better. Fighting corruption is not just a flashy national issue.

What will happen to the Clinton Foundation? First of all, the investigation has not been closed and the congress has not even warmed up yet in terms of bring her to justice. 2. Without any elected political chair to occupy (assuming that Hillary Huckster is going to retire after this) she has no official clout to aid in her system of raising donations. Will it die a slow death? I can't see it thriving ever again.

I'm I being hopeful or just prognosticating? I think KOS is not really going to be able to recover from this. He has fucked up his site more than he knows. Rumor has it he was getting some funding from the DNC, though not directly. If that is true then that's over. He makes a some money from percentages of donations taken to whatever cause he gets behind that are originally inititated by others such as Moveon.org. I doubt he has really ever made that much money on advertising. His number are vastly inflated when you include statistics such as 'bounce rate' and 'average time spent on site' (which is about two and half minutes).

Should be mildly interesting to watch.

Little h, not House, although that would be part. Time to connect with the Trump voters; they share similar fears to vote FOR him. He will disappoint them, time to drag them under wing.

'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member

Trump voters are a motley crew. Some are like traditional Republican ditto heads but many are not. AfterBerners need to reach out respectfully and create a common front on the Clinton Foundation, NAFTA, TPP, Social Security, maybe even repealing parts of Clinton's '96 Telecomms Act to punish Bill and the slimy media at the same time. There's also a portion of his supporters who are not climate deniers.

These people have incredible energy; I know it's humorous to say that, but it's true. They really believe they shitposted their way to victory. They're willing to keep fighting against the establishment.

Somebody also needs to go directly to Trump. He's largely a blank book, he asked for help and he may very well be open to a few traditionally lefty ideas if they fit his themes. This isn't hard--he tweets. Just get a good meme, focus on one issue and tweet!

pointing out that Schumer should not become the minority leader. If it is important that that post be filled by a Jewish person, I don't know but if that is something which matters, what about Sanders, who does caucus with Democrats? Were it not for Schemer's disastrous interventions in senate primary elections, Baldwin might well be enjoying majority party status, with accompanying perks and bennies.

Because you know that's coming.
Might start a war with Russia, just to claim that it's Trump's fault. (Yes, I believe they are capable of that kind of evil.)

I expect a LOT of very rapid corporate friendly stuff in the next month,
A pardon for Hillary,
and anything else Barry can do quickly and quietly that CAN'T be reversed by Trump.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Obama and Clinton are right wingers/corporatocratists. Obama trying to push thru TPP before the transfer of power should tell you that. Trump is not a right winger. His acceptance speech should tell you that. The people who endorsed him should tell you that. The country voted for the most liberal candidate out of the 2 major parties. Stop looking at the labels we have used for these people. Trump is going to replace Obama care with single payer. Just watch. Why do you think the right wing wasn't backing him? He's against the MIC. He's for TARIFFS. Socialist TARIFFS. He wants to #draintheswamp. We won on election night. The neo-cons lost. Just ask G. H W Bush. He voted for Hillary. Hillary was the corporatocracy candidate with the liberal wedge issues. Many of Bernie's policies will be implemented and Bernie should stop being a tool and embrace Trump. Bernie knows it was all politics with regard to Trumps rhetoric. Trump is President and he will be more left than Obama and way left of neo-con Clinton. I guarantee it.

I have this idea that we should all join the Green Party and open up local offices everywhere. The space needs to be cheap or free of course, but must be visible. Then we have monthly meetings and start recruiting candidates. And have positive community activities. And flyers about our positions?

In my part of Texas, there are republican headquarters everywhere. Never seen a democrat office. We wouldn't be stepping on toes, because there are no toes to step on. Smile

The space does not need to be cheap or free, although it should be within budget. One of the raps against leftist orgs is that they are boondoggles, profiting from "free stuff", and elevating incompetent, mouthy nobodies to undeserved prominence.

If you want to be heard and listened to, you must be respected, and that, unfortunately does mean being seen as paying your own way. The space should easily accessible from major mass transit, clean and welcoming. Staff should be reputable persons of good character who do not resemble circus performers. Avoid the mistakes of the past. Nobody's Eurotrash sexual partner should be given a paid position or even an important volunteer one.

I think this is protesting the system that elected Trump. Or, do you think the people of c99% are just upset that their candidate lost?

I can not speak for these particular individuals, but I am speaking for many individuals that identify with these individuals.

I was not clear about what they were protesting. #notmypresident seemed to be protesting Trump specifically as the winner. Yes to protesting the non-democratic, duopolic system that bought the country to this point

I'm not with them, ever. The Democratic and Republican parties are two sides of the same oligarchy-minted coin. No meaningful reform will ever come from attempting to work with in the approved duopoly framework - indeed, that framework was explicitly designed to frustrate and defeat all efforts to bring about meaningful change.

A good first step would be a non-political party, umbrella type organization for genuine leftists (not establishment liberals) that could serve the same function for the anti-plutocracy movement in the US that the African National Congress served for the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. Since we are in effect being oppressed by a form of economic apartheid - the economic elite on one side of the divide, and everyone else on the other - the comparison and reference is appropriate.

What could such an organization accomplish? A great deal, if it was organized properly. An ongoing, 24/7/365 effort to educate average citizens about the crimes and betrayals being perpetrated against them by their economic overlords. Formulation of a core set of principles, as well as a core set of policy initiatives, that any would-be political leader would have to fully subscribe to in order to garner the organization's support. The ability of the left to effectively speak with one voice, and unite behind a common, disciplined agenda.

To quote the lyrics of an old union song:

Step by step the longest march can be won, can be won
Many stones can form an arch, singly none, singly none
And by union what we will can be accomplished still
Drops of water turn a mill, singly none singly none

This basically summarizes what has to happen in order for the forces of enlightenment and humanity to have any hope at all of ultimately prevailing. Unity of mind and spirit, and singleness of purpose. Not an easy thing to accomplish, but not impossible either. As Machiavelli wrote (in one of his more idealistic moments) : Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great.

Truly, the future is in our hands.

Hillarycrush is becoming embarrassing. I wonder if he was prepared to show his devotion by riding the first missile to Moscow?

I am trying to come up with specific things we out here can do. Ourselves. Such as writing or emailing our Democratic Senators to not let failed incompetent warmonger Schemer become Senate Minority Leader. Maybe this is the year for Merkeley to make his move. He was Speaker of the House in OR, I believe, and I rather think a similar position is his ambition now.

Or here? Very necessary to calculate the next big steps. Maybe next week, when shock or glory has burned off. Or back to simmer.

I have a relative (only by a dead marriage) who voted Trump. She relies on SSDI. And is misinformed about what might happen in January, which could also have happened under a Clinton administration.
