Openly Eccentric - Open Thread 8/27/2016
Good Sunday morning and welcome to Openly Eccentric, your Sunday morning dose of one of the younger guys on the blog showing both youth and occasional ignorance, but owning up to both. Which is what I have to do as a wise fool, which is what I try and aspire to be. Yes, it's an oxymoron, but I consider myself neither an Ox, nor a Moron.
Been a crazy week for me, and a happy one. Since the meetup I've had multiple social engagements, which is unusual for me, but they've been coming together both well and quickly. I'm actually happy, which of course I can't tell the VA, because they'll declare me cured and decide that I should be miserable again with no money. Half-kidding, but that's the way it seems to go with almost everything these days, and I'm just paranoid enough to believe it.
---
First off it looks like our neighbor to the north is capable of making idiotic decisions too. Yep, that's right, they're about to learn the hard way about "Peacekeeping" missions in nations that don't want you there. Course, they should have learned that one LAST time, but hey, you know... If you're going to build an MIC, the first thing you need to do is STOP PAYING ATTENTION to the past.
So, looks like Turkey has decided to jump in to Syria with BOTH feet. Isn't it awesome that thanks to Bush, nobody ever gets charged with war crimes anymore , because NOBODY has to declare war? There's apparently no wars anymore, which is a great comfort to those folks who DON'T-die in these NOT-Wars.
Looks like Australia is also hard at work to NOT learn from our mistakes. Yep, the Pension age is going to be raised to 70. Which of course means the importation of the lovely "Work Till You DIE" ethics that the USA is so fond of.
And why the HELL are we talking Race Wars again? I thought the whole kill people because of their skin color thing was last Centuries problem. Now of course, we have not only the internet, as the MSM would like us to believe, but mainstream political figures Making threats against people with color other than their own...
---
Still happier than the news. Actually the reason I'm happy is I turned OFF the news. It's always bad. Therefore some music that I enjoy which makes me happy.

me too!
I really didn't turn it off out of disgust or ResistAWNCE or spite, really, although I harbor plenty of that, under the surface. Rather, I have tuned it all out because I find it utterly and painfully distasteful and STUPID. I mean just beyond stupid and so far into State TV propaganda, theres only one reason to watch any of it and that is simply to better understand The Enemy and grok what falsehoods are they feeding to the masses today?
Instead, I have decided to ... no, wrong word ... vowed to attack my massive clutterstorm that has built up in my house over the past few years. It's bad. It's taken over my entire house, lol. So, one area, one pile, at a time, Ive begun. We'll see how it goes. Over this I have power. Anything else? not so much.

Raising the retirement age to 70 while life expectancy is going down is one way to solve the problem of handling social security. Creating more jobs so the input of funds is probably just beyond the scope of politician's thinking (except that Trump has suggested it).

speaking of TV...
I just recently discovered a mainstream (cable) show that's actually very good. Death Row Stories, narrated by Susan Sarandon.
The episodes Ive seen so far, they are absolutely innocent and even exonerated. Some episodes are, I guess, not so 'happy ending'.

This will be very much like OFA, I think. People will fall away, because the strategy--inasmuch as I can discern it--is lame and won't work. Ditto on the tactics, because both the strategy and the tactics are based on at best superficial, and at worst, insincere thinking.
As someone who's worked both in DFA and in a 501c4, let me assure you that lack of effectiveness is a pretty profound eroder of membership.
That said, I'm guessing those that there's a slight selection bias in the survey itself, in that I think people supportive of Bernie & OR would be more likely to take the poll (defending their leader/org) than those who are jaundiced would be inclined to take it just to say "You suck!"

Testing, testing. Wonder if this place can handle
a diary about 9/11, specifically one that questions the official government story. Over at the Daily Kos we couldn't do that. We can here, I'm wondering how that would be received.
Let 'er rip, Big Al, life is crazy now, not that CT about 9/11
is. I last flew into Newark to see the new tower, better flights were long ago over the hole.

Got it, appreciate the comment.
It's easy to replay as a new comment, happens a lot.
As with the JFK assassination,
I, like a very large number of people in this country, take it as read that 9/11 was, at least in part, an inside job.
The fact that we've had an effective character assassination done on us doesn't alter this.
Anybody who takes the word "truth" and makes it into an epithet doesn't deserve consideration, anyway. "Truther," pffft.

Most people in this country
And around the world for that matter, do not believe the official story of 9/11. I don't think that is radical.
There are degrees of disbelieving, though
I don't think any person with two brain cells to rub together believes Condosleeza Rice's "Nobody could have expected..." bullshit. Very similar scenarios were predicted (including in popular fiction) and should have been anticipated. (Anticipation is 90% of prevention.) Any competent administration would have been trying to anticipate hostile events.
Bush the Lesser and his crew were one and all profoundly INcompetent.
IMHO they had their heads so far up their asses with regard to "how do we grab off Iraq?" that they didn't and couldn't see anything coming from anywhere else. They were so obsessed with Iraq that they destroyed the very concept of truth in trying to tie 9/11 around Saddam Hussein's neck - even though he could not possibly have had anything to do with it.
Sadly, there still are people who bought the BushCo line of lies hook, line and sinker and believe "Saddam caused 9/11".
Stupidity, incompetence, and greed, singly and in combination, cause, and historically have caused, far more trouble and even outright disaster than the most malevolent Machiavellian plotting ever could.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
I tend to believe that (incompetence),
but recently (like for the last year) i keep an open mind. It is somehow better to assign malevolence where stupidity reigned, but I did not vote for that sh*t anyway. Otherwise we are all in a very scary movie that no one will see.

I for one don't believe the
shit that was shoved down our throats about September Eleventh.
Just like I don't buy the shit the DEA and suits tell us about marijuana.
"Love One Another" ~ George Harrison
BushCo sure did shovel the shit
getting the country lined up behind his nasty little (or not so little) wars. Ever since, we have not known one nanosecond of peace.
But I really think they were blindsided by the actual event. (Partly because they willfully blinded themselves - remember Shrub's scornful brushing-off of warnings in August with "Okay, you've covered your asses"?)
There is no justice. There can be no peace.

Hi DJ! And after shopping (did you have to tell your kids?

Other than TV horror, i remember selling someone else on 8' deer fencing that morning.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
On the whole there are three basic positions:
"LIHOP (Let It Happen On Purpose)", which assumes BushCo saw it coming and did nothing to prevent it (or worse, took steps that made preventing it impossible);
"MIHOP (Made It Happen On Purpose)", which assumes BushCo's complicity and/or treasonous conspiracy;
"HUA (Heads Up Asses)", which assumes that BushCo was so incompetent they couldn't even see it coming, let alone do anything whatsoever to stop it.
Considering that I'm a firm believer in the disastrous effects of various combinations of stupidity, incompetence and greed, I'm solidly in the HUA camp. There's plenty of evidence for BushCo's incompetence, but little if any for the kind of malicious intelligence required for the other two camps.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
The first bombing of the WTC was handled by police: local,
state and federal. The investigation came to a successful conclusion.
The second attack on the WTC - 9/11 - also should have been handled as a police action with help from international police and intelligence organizations. If unimpeded, it stood a good chance of succeeding. There was no attack from a foreign country; it was an attack by a mafia-like organization and should have been handled that way until and unless there were found to be bona fide combatants of a country.
Whether or not the Bush administration had prior knowledge, or was an active participant, the fact that Bush took potential witnesses out of the country and out of the reach of law enforcement damns them as after-the-fact criminals, in my view.
The Bush administration used the second WTC attack to wage war on countries having nothing to do with the attacks. We are suffering from this decision to the present day.
(Imagine if 15 of the 19 named perpetrators were North Korean.)
"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"
9/11, that's the Chilean Coup d' Etat we helped set up, right?
What's controversial about that?
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
Well, as long as you don't quote non-engineering analysis
That says fully fueled and loaded 767's flying at full cruising speed impacting the towers couldn't bring them down.
They could and did. At least a quad of core support pillars were severed, and the fire weakened the rest.
With all the CTs about the "gov-mint" engineering the attacks (I frankly don't think the "gov-mint's" smart enough or effective enough to do such a thing - at least in secret) there are few if any CTs about the airlines intentionally (and collaboratively) stone-walling on improving ridiculously lax security at their gates in the name of saving pennies, and fretting about reducing ridership a tiny fraction. Letting someone on a plane with a carry-on full of box cutters - Sheesh.
Well, you can quote such sources, but I wouldn't hope to be taken seriously if I were you.

Hmm. All righty.
Maybe not.
Damn it, no.
Not that I have anything against Szaephod, but why should his (her?) opinion on this weigh any heavier than mine?
For my money, you can start with Gore Vidal's excellent analysis of this issue, which is either in Dreaming War or Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace.

Gore Vidal? One of the most informed and analytical people
of his generation. His books of essays are still worth reading.
Sure he made some mistakes - he was wrong on Japan dominating world commerce at some point - but he got it right when it counted.
"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"
Maybe, but Vidal had his own axes to grind
Sometimes they're pretty obvious, and the reader can choose whether to agree or not.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
His analysis of 9-11 was excellent
and well-sourced, as I recall.

Vidal provided a combination of scholarly research and an
insiders knowledge of how DC really worked. He was born into a political family - I think it was his uncle who was senator from Oklahoma - and was able to learn things not available to others.
Plus, his writing style was excellent and entertaining.
"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"
I don't recall that he went into structural engineering
and jet-propulsion science. Politics, yes, but from his own viewpoint that the Bush admin was utterly despicable and criminal (can't say I disagree much with that!) and that the US had been going down the wrong road for decades beforehand (no argument there either).
But I think Vidal mistook utter incompetence for malevolent genius, and then kept having to defend his error.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.

Engineers say
Those buildings were brought down by explosives not planes. Some don't say it too loudly for fear of losing their jobs. And there are witnesses that there were explosions.
SOME engineers say that, others don't
And as for "explosions", jet fuel IS explosive. And hella flammable. If it weren't, it would be useless as fuel. This is like, duh, kindergarten stuff.
Hell, for that matter an automobile is a self-propelled bomb with the possibility of fire and/or explosion if it collides with anything violently enough. They can even catch fire under the hood for no reason at all - one of mine did, once, and boy howdy was that scary!
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
And in all movies with cars careening off cliffs they explode at

Yup
I believe the NYFD more than the administration.
I remember the news and hearing and seeing the people reacting and running from the explosions.
I'd also like to know why one of the Bush brothers was there earlier that week working on "security" and the videos all went down for hours.
There are many questions not yet even addressed. People just slap, CONSPIRRACY THEORY on to any person's legitimate questions.
I'd like to know what happened to the plane parts that went into the pentagon.

I'm with you, Janet
There are a lot of unanswered questions about September 11th.
One of the biggest things to happen and we can't discuss openly
And all the ripples of it.
During a no NO FLY period, there were flights. Who was on them, why'd they get to fly out? Who were they?
We can't even talk about how we denied the first responder healthcare.
The flight that wend down in PA. Why is there so little information about .... any of that.
"Love One Another" ~ George Harrison
Noise to signal ratio is off the charts
There's so much "noise" about the event that sorting out what actually happened from what people claim happened and/or believe happened is very, very difficult.

Good morning all.
It's already been a productive day. I'm working on another article for next week, and then I'm working on some animation I hope to show around here soon.
We seem to have reached the cooler part of the year. We've gotten enough rain that we are seeing some green around the building which is nice. Its pretty desolate otherwise. There is a ditch outside that building that becomes a pond every time it rains.
Looking forward to any animation you have.
Best, as always, hot here and the Wx folks keep pushing forward rain time, depressing.
