Some Summer Flowers: Street Prophets Sunday All Day Brunch

Welcome to Sunday Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I finally felt good enough to take my smaller camera out and take some pictures of the beautiful flowers we have growing around this apartment complex. I must say I have never lived in a more beautiful landscaped place then here. Of course I sort of forgot to check the weather report first figuring that early in the morning was going to be okay. I walked out into a sauna. I had to wipe the lens every time I took a picture because it would fog up. I got some pretty good shots though so here are some of the blooms of summer.

Yawn, stretch. It feels good to have this place to wake up to. Thanks for nudging us out of our stupor, JtC. Thanks for driving the donation boat, Doc.

Beautiful pics! We were in severe drought through June and July, but the rains have finally come and it's greening up in our high desert. The natural grass that grows in our field is on a mission to head out and seed - a beautiful sight. The sunflowers are reaching for the sky and the blooms are popping open for us to enjoy. One last push before the cool of fall and the winter puts it all back to bed.

Yesterday was actually cool here. We've been in a heat wave, but barely reached 75 yesterday and the evening brought rain and a chill in the air. This morning, when I went out to give the birds their breakfast, I had to don a jacket, as the temp was a mere 51.

Have a beautiful Sunday, dear ones. I'm so happy to be able to share this space with you all. Pleasantry

We really could use some cool and lower humidity here in North Carolina.

They have lovely flowers. All I have "blooming" are fungi. I have taken pix and harvested some Chicken of the Woods, still have to saute in butter to try it. More where that came from. It's a shelf fungus. Severe drought here; I think my water well has burped once (yikes!) and I need to put on a plumber's hat to change my whole house water filter. And pray for rain.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

I would love some rain especially if it brings cooler weather with it.

You live in a lush and lovely garden! Someone does an awesome job there! So many beautiful varieties of flowering plants!

I live in the deep, deep South. I'm in South Alabama, about 20 miles North of the little Gulf Coast town of Bayou la Batre --- the town made famous by the movie, "Forrest Gump". Unfortunately or fortunately the little town has never really taken advantage of using that famous association.

It's 86° and humid as hell right now. We've been deluged with rain all week with more to come.

They have people working on the grounds at least three times a week maybe more. The flowers change depending on the seasons. It makes it an even better place to stay.

For those of you unaware, Chicken of the Woods is an edible shelf fungus, bright yellow (unmistakeable when starting its fruiting stage). I have held it in my fridge for a few days in a paper bag. So, upon cutting/sawing, it looks like chicken! Then on sauteeing it turns into a butter magnet. Like over a stick of butter, with a batch to go. Sauteed it tastes earthy/buttery. I am freezing this batch, to use in soups, etc.

this looks like a wonderful flowery landscape around your living quarters. Reminds me of mine. Huge trees everywhere and the little town keeps it up, just pruning the minimum to avoid damages to the housing complexes. I should take some pictures too.

Have a good Sunday, all day, all of you.
