My apologies for missing getting up Thursday's Coffee Hour but I was at an emergency doctor's appointment with my brother. He has sores on his only foot and leg and we have been at the doctor's offices for the last six weeks. Fortunately they think it is under control and that they will heal if he stays off the foot.

Pixie has a loud voice when she meows. When it is close to what she thinks suppertime should be she starts yelling to me. The closer to the time she is fed the more the meow comes out NOW.

I was going to do part two of the soup recipes but unfortunately I hurt my back and can’t sit at the computer for more than a couple of minutes. My Doctor put me on new medicine and my body is getting used to it and I fell yesterday pulling a muscle in the back.

I love that Summer is leaving and cooler weather is coming in. As a severe asthmatic Summer is my worst season. As an artist Fall has lot prettier colors to work with. This is Autumn Skies.

In times of stress we often look to comfort food to help us get through. Comfort food is food that soothes the psyche as it provides nourishment. It often is a food that we remember from our childhood. It can be a favorite dish that was made by Mom or Grandmother. It is rarely a gourmet dish. It is just plain solid home cooking.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area I was exposed to some of the best Chinese food in the world. One of my favorites is the steamed pork buns Char Siu Bao. Living in North Carolina I don't have the access to Chinese food and ingredients like I did in San Francisco or Chicago when I lived there.

I finally felt good enough to take my smaller camera out and take some pictures of the beautiful flowers we have growing around this apartment complex. I must say I have never lived in a more beautiful landscaped place then here. Of course I sort of forgot to check the weather report first figuring that early in the morning was going to be okay.

I love to cook but with only two people in the house there is usually leftovers. Reid loves Corned Beef around St. Patrick's Day and I love Chinese BBQ called Char Siu. I have learned to make enough so that I can do more than one recipe using the meat.

Back in the late 90's I started doing graphic art on the computer. With the severity of the arthritis I knew I could no longer do the quality of art I used to be able to do with brushes and ink. Many times I just play around on my computer just to see what the computer will come up with.
