Outreach to anyone but the left

There was always the plan to attract the right, it's what the Clinton's do best

With less than 100 days left before election day, the Clinton campaign is accelerating its drive to recruit GOP donors, business leaders and foreign policy experts. According to people familiar with the effort, a visible coalition of independents and Republicans backing Clinton will make it easier for conservatives dismayed by Donald Trump to cast their ballots for a Democrat.

The Clinton campaign has been preparing for its Republican outreach effort for months. Around the start of the conventions, it went into gear. Since then, notable Republicans, military leaders and one GOP congressman have abandoned Trump and cast their lot with Clinton. Framing their defections as a moral imperative, the converts are urging fellow Republicans and independents to put “country over party” and join them on 8 November.

This is what I call the elites going on the attack.

Both Bernie and Trump have rattled their gilded world order. The democrats had to connive and cheat to halt Bernie and the Republicans still don't know what the hell hit them, although they invited it upon themselves. Anyone standing in the way is going to be well and truly trashed and I include the Greens in this, this is the Empire striking back. Once the centre has well and truly coagulated around the Clintons, watch the policy objectives change subtly; anyone daring to raise a question will be mercilessly dealt with. By November any pretence that many of the issues Bernie managed to inject into the race will have fallen away into the dust behind the propaganda juggernaut.

The Trump circus may well allow the Republicans the excuse to do it for the country rather than their own needs, anyone that believes this is not getting the ground game. Trumps supporters have long scared the bejesus out of the Party, the left holds no such fear for the Democrats, we are after all, easy to bully.

This obvious manoeuvring is why I have not and will not trust another Clinton [or mainstream Democrat for that matter] in the White-House. They see this as a unification process, I see it as the end game to exclude the 99% permanently. These people are not for country no matter how big the flag pin they wear, no matter how violently they wave the plastic flags made in China, they are not with us, in their mind's eye they bloody own us, in fact we owe them. Atlas did indeed Shrug.

It seems to me that we are dealing with sociopaths, some speak with more erudite forked tongues than others.

We are all just a means to an end and our real needs mean nothing.

Just a thought.

The two parties have kept us divided and conquered by focusing political activity on social issues, which only distract from their real agenda. The "center" is where the two find agreement, and the center is always about the big banks and corporations, including the war industry.

It's time to reject the bullshit social issue divisions. Politics has to divide along economic lines, because the 0.1% are only consolidating their power under Hillary. The time for Right vs. Left is over. It's time for a new politics of Up vs Down. Bernie, and to a lesser extent Trump, have shown the way. We must see our enemies clearly, so we know what and whom we must fight.

Hillary, but we can look back and see how each president from Reagan on has gotten us to this point.
Wasn't he the one that started the tax cuts for the elites while removing the things that we could deduct from our taxes?
Interests on car loans, credit cards and other things that we can no longer deduct.
Clinton deregulated the banks as well as the other bills he passed that hurt the social programs.
He teed the ball up and Greenspan (ignored) the damage Clinton did until the global economy finally came crashing down.
Then Obama and congress bailed out the banks but did nothing to help the people that saw their homes foreclosed on or lost their pensions.
Holder took all the class action lawsuits and put them into one and then let the bank CEOs off.
Obama played his part with his bait and switch campaign and passed the heinous ACA and worked for 7 years on the TPP which gives away our national sovereignty over to the corporations.
And now Hillary is going consolidate all those actions and also finally give the banks what they have wanted since it was set up.
Privatizing social security.
You nailed it when you wrote they distracted and divided us on social issues that don't hurt the elite's pocket book, while working in the shadows to screw us.
How people aren't aware of this is mind boggling.

A leftist is someone with morally correct politics. A liberal is someone who wants to feel morally correct w/o ever putting themselves at odds with power or costing themselves opportunities or experiencing the uncomfortable emotions that truth causes.

I came over here with a repost of a diary I did at TOP about Clintonite corruption. In it I reprinted a segment of another diary I did just after the 2014 election. I'll repost it here, if you'll forgive me, because it keeps bearing repeating.

Nowadays, though, the New Deal Democratic party is as dead as the Whigs. Our latter-day version is one more vehicle of corporate influence: the Goldman Division, as it were. We are locked in phony battle with the Koch Division for spectacles of Potemkin democracy, which offer choices that cost the owners of this country nothing and usually improve their quarterly numbers. Nothing can be done anymore that doesn't pay off billionaire sponsors first and last. Social wedge issues are used by both parties to keep their partisans cheering, but these issues have negligible cost to the sponsors of the contest.

That's why when any actually meaningful to the nation policy breaks into the public discussion it immediately gets neutered into mere emotion.
They'll let us feel any damned thing we want 24/7/365, but action is always stymied.
Occupy, to the general public became about unruly threatening demonstrators (or cop brutality -- 'divide and rule' is a millenias-old staple) but you will see little or no exposition about the legitimacy of the things protested. For one example
The BBC show goes from whipping up war fever in the US for WW1, through the headline grabbing stunt of having a bunch of young society women light up 'Torches of Freedom' (cigarettes) to counter prejudice against women smoking, through coups in Central America, and Obama's first run for Pres.
I wonder how many women -- it must stand at tens of millions -- died and suffered because a tobacco exec wanted to widen his market.

From Salon way back in February:

The Age of Reagan should be called the Age of Carter, in politics and policy alike.

. . .

In an interview with the New York Daily News in April 1976, Carter said: “I see nothing wrong with ethnic purity being maintained. I would not force a racial integration of a neighborhood by government action.” A few days later, questioned about this remark, Carter elaborated: “What I say is that the government ought not to take as a major purpose the intrusion of alien groups into a neighborhood simply to establish their intrusion.” Jesse Jackson called this “a throwback to Hitlerian racism.” Carter not only won a majority of the Southern vote but also did well among white ethnics. (The quotes are from Steven F. Hayward’s “The Real Jimmy Carter.”)

Carter, to his shame, did nothing to prevent this, nor did he assist the retirees who in many cases lost everything they worked for all their lives.

I still maintain that the Repugs set the agenda, but I'm getting to where I no longer even can say that with a straight face. So many Dems did their part over the years to get us to where we are today. Carter also began some bank deregulation back in his day too, so all his nice talk about the oligarchy is just that - talk as he helped entrench it.

Taxes were high under FDR, especially because of the war tax. Truman did not cut them. Neither did Eisenhower. JFK did. Reagan and his successors vitiated anti-trust laws. And so on.

In my opinion, we've had fewer than five fiscally liberal Presidents since 1789. It's hard to know whether those actually believed in it or whether they simply feared widespread uprisings. They were also all warriors, unfortunately. The last was LBJ.

There was a choice Grand Bargain or sequester, also known as negotiated cuts or semi-across the board cuts.
If the politicians on the Grand Bargain Committee did not succeed in striking a Grand Bargain, athen the sequester cuts would automatically go into effect. Most likely, the sequester was the goal all along. With a Grand Bargain, the members of the Committee would have had to take responsibility for the cuts. The sequester was an automatic default, so no one had to take responsibility. But, either way, cuts were the only item on the menu for America.

And this pivot by the Clintonites shouldn't be too much of a surprise with the all-out display of All War All The Time at the DNC.

But I think they're nervous. There's a furious campaign on Twitter and elsewhere to paint Jill Stein as some kind of Putin mole, like Trump, but only serves to point up HRH HRC's hawkishness and willingness to start a new Cold War (complete with Red Scare redbaiting y'all!).

It would be funny if it weren't so fucking pathetic.

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it."
-- John Lennon

I do seem to recall that Bill Clinton himself visited Moscow during his Oxford student daze in 1969, when Russia was still very much a part of the U.S.S.R. - and that fact was used against him when he ran against former-CIA-director incumbent Prez Papa Bush in 1992.

For a trip down memory lane . . .

... and barely got any criticism for it. Goes she figures it's OK to keep,up the smears. Donald Trump played right along, giving more evidence that he may be a Trojan Horse for the Clintons. Why shouldn't they Red-bait Stein too? It's not like the media are going to give them any pushback.

Nope, nada, nothing. No one is asking about those secret speeches the Hillster gave to Wall Street. No demand for transcipts, no demand for tapes, nothing. Promises were made to be kept. Soon we'll all find out just how the oligarchy works.

The real SparkyGump has passed. It was an honor being your human.

I don't Twitter, but Social Security is what Wall St wants, and it seems the obvious explanation of their sudden move to her side.

And it certainly explains why she doesn't want to tell us what she said!
