to a C99P member in another thread, who was speculating as to 'why' Bernie chose to drop out now--two weeks before the Dem Party Convention.
And I certainly had no 'ill intent.' (Heck, I'm left of the late Howard Zinn.)
Are folks aware that print media has been reporting, for at least a couple of weeks, that the Dem Party Leadership and the WH (not Republicans) have been upset about the expense of Bernie's Secret Service entourage--if he was planning to quit the race, anyway--which is supposedly what he told Joe Biden, almost a month ago.
To discuss this topic in the context of 'when' Bernie made his announcement, is in no way tantamount to wanting, or wishing Bernie harm.

There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.
as a political issue? The whole "the race is over but Bernie is still costing taxpayers money" attack to force him to get out. She's been parroting every single other line from the Clinton Campaign since the primary began, so I don't see why she wouldn't use that one, too. She probably justifies mentioning this by thinking that she's "following up" on her earlier bullshit.
Remember, these folks live in a bubble. They don't understand that their actions might have consequences for other people.
Yes, I do see it as very abrupt, since he is still a candidate and has not suspended.
You are missing the point in that Maddow should not be broadcasting this to crazies out there. It is against SS recommendations, they do not announce this far and wide.
You may not have noticed, but there are a lot of crazies who own lots of guns and who can be set off for any reason.

she was actually really good. Lots of information with a concise straightforward presentation aligning with liberal values. Then, after she got her own show and as time went on, she became increasingly disconnected from the issues, elitist in tone, and overly snarky in her presentation. She has this annoying passive aggressive sarcasm that's Gawker-esque in nature.
There's really no reason to watch her anymore. MSNBC as a network has really gone down the shitter, firing their most influential voices, and basically positioning themselves as the mouthpiece for Third Way Dems.
She was fresh and progressive back then. Quite an intellectual star.

And she was brutal against the Bush administration and the illegal Iraq war.
I liked her when she was on Keith's show and a when she first got her show.
She started losing me when she'd go on and on about the republicans.
But I stopped watching her after Obama was elected and continued PNAC's goals in the Middle East and his use of drones.
She became just like the people over at LOF.
What was unacceptable when the republicans were doing them became acceptable when Obama did them.
He destroyed 4 countries and countless people's lives, yet she doesn't seem to have a problem with that.
I haven't watched her in years.
She has sold her principles for money.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
A lot of people sounded good back then, but then sent they're critical thinking skills to ground once Obama was elected.

National News is about priorities, though. The death of Seth Rich was probably considered a much much much lower priority than issuing a thinly veiled threat to an increasingly annoyed electorate by announcing that their favorite candidate was now a sitting duck.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
as a sitting senator, he can request Secret Service protection. Since he no longer presents a threat to other candidates, he's probably no longer under attack. Did anyone else get a little uncomfortable about the President going to Dallas today? It might be a generational thing.
And the nerdy guy in the weekend. But then when this primary began, it became clear thatbMSNBC had a horse in the race and it was just too hard to watch anymore. Left about the same time I left TOP. Missing the good times, but not sorry I left. Correction, they left me...
Unfortunately she to seems to have flown to close to the flame and her wings have melted. Whether it was the allure of fame and fortune or just her ego being rubbed she has changed and not for the better.
She was Keith Olberman's protege and I am sure he is crying about that now. I still like her but no longer think she represents true progressives as she is actually a key part of the establishment now
long term credibility at the HRC altar. Which was really dumb, because her audience was always the Democratic wing of the Democratic party - NOT the neo-liberal wing of the Democratic Party.
So Rachel's kind of like DK - great when you confine yourself to Aren't Republicans Dumb commentary but useless in pointing out your own side's foibles and hypocrisies.
Cenk Uygur is smart to avoid this pitfall. Our side needs just as much if not more policing than the other side simply because they are (putatively) our side.

I noticed Bloomberg (the publication) now takes up a great deal of the MSNBC time now. I found this accidentally while tuning in the All-Star game last night. Looks like Comcast is being successful in converting the station into yet another outlet for FOX.

Media Corruption
I know they're not stupid. What is going on here?
For cryin' out loud--I just mentioned this fact in a comment
to a C99P member in another thread, who was speculating as to 'why' Bernie chose to drop out now--two weeks before the Dem Party Convention.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
Well, since he's no longer in the race,
why would he?
There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.
Why
Would she point out that he doesn't?
Might I point out that Rachel Maddow doesn't have
secret service protection.
Just sayin'
Is it important news for Rachel?
Why is that worth mentioning?

Hasn't she been one of the talking heads pontificating over that

Following up
Wish the FBI did. Wonder if there are only two sets of laws now?
She's not the only one
To report it.
Just a reminder about our
2nd amend. rts. by Rachel. Just kidding!
Because you do not announce that you have a sitting target..
Hello...that is not the point of this entry...

Correct
Rachel knows her words have consequences.
What's the point of Rachel Maddow?
We only have basic access cable, so her 'show' has never been watched in this household.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
MSNBC
Is her network. She has an hour long opinion show. I used to have a much better opinion of her in the past.
Back when she was filling in for Olbermann
she was actually really good. Lots of information with a concise straightforward presentation aligning with liberal values. Then, after she got her own show and as time went on, she became increasingly disconnected from the issues, elitist in tone, and overly snarky in her presentation. I agree
Miss Olbermann, I think that's where I first saw Rachel. Liked her back then.
I believe she began on Air America in 2002
She was fresh and progressive back then. Quite an intellectual star.

Well in case anybody missed mj55's post
The DNC data guy Seth Rich was shot to death on the street in DC Sunday night. Does anyone know if RM did a story on that.
A quick Google search suggests no.
National News is about priorities, though. The death of Seth Rich was probably considered a much much much lower priority than issuing a thinly veiled threat to an increasingly annoyed electorate by announcing that their favorite candidate was now a sitting duck.
OT, but why was he out at 4:20AM?

Just announced Bernie has NO SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION
WTF is going on?????
And over and over again
MSNBC should be ashamed.
Maybe investigated....
I believe if Bernie feels his life is in danger,
as a sitting senator, he can request Secret Service protection. Since he no longer presents a threat to other candidates, he's probably no longer under attack. Did anyone else get a little uncomfortable about the President going to Dallas today? It might be a generational thing.
How do we know he hasn't?
I could be wrong, but I don't think requests for SS protection have to be granted.
