My Reaction to the Bernie and Hillary Show in NH Today

It's in a brief (for me) video on my YouTube channel:

Ask yourself one question. After all we've seen from the Clinton campaign and the Dnc to steal this election, do you trust Hillary Clinton to follow through on anything she said today?

and the Dems, I don't think Bernie owed her or them a darn thing. I don't pin any great hopes on a nice progressive Democratic platform, because as was pointed in in the gut-retching Republican platform meeting that ran today during breaks in the Loretta Lynch hearing, a platform is pretty much just a marketing piece; tuition, public option, yada yada - it's just like the great architect renderings of the clubhouse and pool that never end up being built in the swindle to sell you a time share in Democratic Palookaville.

Who will be surprised when shortly after the election it's all oops! sorry, money ran out, we decided on a nice little war instead, the banks needed another bailout, we got sidetracked with this great trade deal, etc. ?

I would have preferred that Bernie have just waited it out through the convention, especially since every day holds the potential for another dropping Clinton shoe. Plus, I am concerned about the Democrats lowering their standards by even thinking of allowing all the racist/sexist/misogynist Bernie voters (back) into their tent. After all the things they said about us, I for one don't even want to be part of a club that would accept such an assortment of pathologies just to hustle some votes - even racist/sexist/misogynists have standards!

This was inspired by what is allegedly the funniest joke of all time (I'm not convinced, but it works here).

Now that Bernie has endorsed Hillary, Bill takes her to a secluded spot for a little quiet time. The Secret Srevice detail goes off a discrete distance to provide them privacy.

Suddenly, a shot rings out. The head of the SS detail rushes up and sees Bill holding Hillary. "What happened?" he screams.

"A Bernie bro just killed Hillary from the trees," replies Big Dog.

"Killed Hillary? Are you certain?" asks the SS agent.

With that, Bill grabs the agent's gun and shoots Her. "I am now!" he declares.

Apologies if this offends anyone. It's how I feel right now.

that Bernie signed a contract with the DNC, which in part, requires him to endorse the nominee. Though I'll vote for Hillary Clinton when hell freezes over or longer if need be, I'm a little disappointed that some of you are ready to throw him to the dogs for keeping a contractual promise that he made when he joined the Democratic party, despite what he may really feel on the matter. A sticky wicket but he has proven himself yet again to be a man of his word.

Sure, I'd love to have seen Sanders run third party and fracture the DNC beyond recognition; that's the anarchist in me. However, as he has chosen to remain perceivably within the good graces of the DNC, he can do a great deal more to keep Grandma Yuppie perennially agitated by reminding her of what she concededto apply to the platform. I think this wise on his part, as no matter what, the established, criminally insane, fucked up, neoliberal DNC will never, ever let Bernie Sanders or anyone remotely similar become the nominee. Like it or hate it, he could not win a third party run. Critical mass has not yet been achieved.

Keep in mind, Bernie Sanders is a man far past his prime in life and not getting any younger, who could have sat on the sidelines while remaining a career Senator (which he'll continue) eventually retiring doing little more than give largely unheard speeches at universities, fading away to a life of dumb-assery such as Howard Dean. The energy required to run a campaign is phenomenal at any age, not to mention against all odds; the odds being greater than I imagined re: All the now exposed election fraud.

I don't wish to be dismissive of anyone's hurt or anger as it is an emotionally charged situation and these feelings are valid but I think it rash to make decisions based purely on emotions. I won't vote for Clinton but I'm damn sure not going to hate Sanders.

that candidates sign an agreement not to make a third party run (on a blog).

But, when I searched, I never could find anything that substantiated that claim.

Of course, based on what we know about the 'DWS' DNC--the authoritative and controlling nature of it--I wouldn't doubt that the candidates were required to either sign something, or take a verbal oath that they would not run third Party.

Wait a minute--I believe that Former Senator Jim Webb was publicly weighing the idea of making a run as an Independent, months after he dropped out of the Dem primary.

Hmmmmm . . .

Again, I don't 'know.'

"According to Section VI, paragraphs g and m, of the DNC Delegate Selection Materials, a candidate with an active campaign is not allowed to deny an endorsement of another campaign. Since Bernie is a candidate and a Super Delegate, he is obligated to support only Democratic candidates; also, if he had withheld an endorsement of the presumptive DNC nominee or endorsed a third-party candidate (Stein), he would lose his Delegate/Super Delegate status as well as forfeit his pledged delegates."

Unfortunately the DNC for its side does not appear to warrant that the process and its own actions therein will be on the up-and-up, or indeed meet any particular objectively defined integrity standards whatsoever.

I've paid attention to Sanders for years and have always admired him for his courage and - most of all - his integrity. As I look back, I've seen few things that have ever caused me to doubt his dedication to not only his constituents, but the American people.

sojurns, you are correct to point out that Sanders signed a contract with the Democrats. Consider what that meant to Sanders. He volunteered to give up his fierce independence to walk with the devil. I think he knew exactly what he was getting into when he did it, and I'm sure he and Jane had a serious discussion about it long before he made his move. He understood that he would be forced to play by a rule book that was totally skewed against him and press coverage that would be dismissive at best. Further, he would be up against a candidate completely obsessed with the accrual of political power by any means.

Against this, he saw something happening in America. There was a spark, and Sanders saw it. That spark was at Zuccotti Park, and - believe it or not - in the original formation of the Tea Party groups nationwide. Sanders knew there was an opportunity for him to make a difference. Even at his age, or perhaps due to it, he threw himself at the mercy of the Democrats. I think he well knew he might be the first casualty, but that the cause was great enough to follow though. And maybe he IS the first casualty - eaten alive by the corrupt, ravenous political machine that is the Democratic Party today. He signed a contract and is standing by his word.

America's young, of all races, sensed the fragrance of truth when they heard him speak. I suspect many could barely recognize it, but they did. Young people can smell bullshit from miles away, and they knew that what was coming from Sanders was definitely not bullshit. My own Millennial daughters and their husbands were interested in the political process for the first time; their friends were, too. Hard core right-wing co-workers came to me with sincere questions about Sanders. After hearing nothing but hate and lies for so long, something he was saying rang true to them as well.

Could have Sanders split the Democrats into pieces? Yes, and maybe he has. If so, it's long overdue. It's sad to see that the political party driven by machine-politics corruption is not the GOP, as I would have expected. Rather, it's the party who has the gall to still call themselves the Party of the People. Sanders has pulled away the curtain and there's no going back for most of us.

In my opinion, to pull back that curtain, he has sacrificed himself. The greater good has been accomplished. Remember, he always said, "This isn't about me." We can wish there had been far more, but I think this 74 year old man has acquitted himself quite well, even if this is the end of it for him. However, I don't think he's through. Certainly, the rest of us are far from through. Bernie Sanders has lit one hell of a fire. It may or may not have consumed him, but I think he was willing to do it, knowing full well how it might end.

Any of us who might have done a fraction of what Sanders has done would have done well.

I have 2 ideas today:

1. If Bernie sticks with the dems & no miracle happens, like a real indictment for H, perhaps, while staying in the Senate, he should insist on being named the DNC head. In that position, he can do the most good for the Brand New Congress.

2. In my freshman year of high school, which was dominated by cliques & "in-crowds," I was a real nobody. All girls Catholic school: we had gym once a week. One week, gym class was a class-wide dodge ball game. I won, mainly because no one thought it would be fun to take me out.

So, in Nov, while repugs are committing election fraud against dems and vice-versa, maybe the greens have a real chance to win at dodging election fraud, if they get on enough state ballots & get most of the indy votes & half of the dem votes.

However, I'm in a very different place right now. Bernie led us to believe he wasn't going to play the game with the 1%! Something happened to change Bernie, and I intend to find out what happened!

You are quite diplomatic! I guess I'm not at a point, emotionally, where I feel diplomatic! I'm giving up on Bernie because he betrayed me by endorsing Hillary Clinton, the Oligarchical Queen. Yes, I'm taking it very personal! I'm fucking angry!

The domestic platform is fine. I applaud the efforts (except the lip service to opposing TPP etc.) of the Democratic Party. But eight more years of perpetual war, child murdering “sanctions”, the surveillance state (treating Snowden and other whistleblowers like a criminals etc.) and corporate corruption?

Sorry, but along with the refusal to treat Palestinians as humans, I am not at all happy with the results.

I will not be supporting national candidates, but I will support down ballot peace candidates and give high support to constant street protest. Most urgently #BLM, end the occupation of Palestine and anti-fracking. Its time for an international boycott of American products. There is no time to waste on elections anymore.

Beware the bullshit factories.

Sanders himself has signaled his position as well. There was a TYT interview that he gave back in late March where he discussed what would happen if he was not the nominee and what it would take to support Clinton.

https://youtu.be/ggFitmOTSok

I don't have any problem with people who say they aren't going to vote for Clinton -- especially if the choice is Green. I can understand that choice. Clinton is a liar, she is one of the more corrupt candidates to run for president. I have serious reservations about a number of the people who are in her inner circle.

Still, I don't see how Trump is a viable option. A couple months ago, I was willing to entertain the possibility, but it's clear that he's running a joke of a campaign, and even more troubling, the kind of people that he's talked about filling positions in his administration are arguably worse on balance than Clinton's people. Gingrich, Palin, Christie, Mike Pence?

If the vote is close I'll have a hard decision. If it isn't I'll vote Green. No money, no volunteer hours for Clinton. There are much more deserving candidates downballot who have done a lot more to earn the support of small donors. I can't say that I'm really surprised or disappointed. I think Sanders candidacy has already served a purpose. His candidacy shined a light on the Democratic Party and the national media in a way that wouldn't have happened absent his run -- and he's one of the few politicians who had the profile and credibility to offer that contrast. This move is also consistent with his career, and even with this move, he's probably the most popular Democrat in America right now, and at least he can have an influence downballot.
