Good morning 99percenters!
I don't have time to put a decent OT together so this will have to do. This Tuesday time slot is now open if someone would like to take it. If someone wants to put together a better OT, have at it, I can delete this one later. Thanks.

The roofers got here at 7:30 am and my husband wants so bad to get up there with them and remove the existing shingles. I am sure they do not need or more, importantly, do not want his help. Stop Lol

Bernie Sanders keeps drawing huge crowds and the mainstream media continues to ignore him. Dash 1

Edit to add: He is up there on the roof with the crew now. He is now a happy man. Biggrin But I wonder what the crew thinks? Wink

Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

ha, ha, my mom would have made my dad get on the roof, even when, poor guy, he was too feeble and shaky to be on a ladder; that's my mom, a gracious soul, but work always came first. Thanks for the chuckle, we are all driven by our idiosyncrasies, are we not, especially we old people?

Damn the main stream media, full-steam ahead Bernie. Not sure that it would be politically wise for him to add breaking up the media in his speeches, now, but the day after he's elected, let's push for taking them down.

Have a good day. Smile

I'm watching a world championship softball game played in Oklahoma. It's 110 degrees F in OKC and the players keep wiping their faces with the end of their t-shirts. The South American teams have not played that well but they seem so happy and friendly as if winning were not the most important thing. Like it is to us North Americans.

Today, I am really upset over the news about Coca Cola sponsoring university studies aimed to influence us about diet.
Coca-Cola Funds Scientists Who Shift Blame for Obesity Away From Bad Diets

The industry pays for studies with the outcome planned in advance: "exercise is more important than diet for people trying to lose weight." This is only one study. I researched grants that the Canadian government (as an example) is giving to universities for studies to help industry. Right now there's an emphasis on proving that Fukushima was not so bad, this is to change our views on the dangers of nuclear energy in order to promote the nuclear industry. The dairy industry finances studies to prove that milk is essential for a balanced diet. Other independent studies prove that consuming milk is only good for calves not for humans. It goes on and on.

I am reminded everyday, what Jon Stewart said about being aware of the BS and not accepting the BS.

BLM intrigue this afternoon. According to CNN tweets and Sanders for President, BLM Boston planned to attend Clinton event in NH this afternoon to ask questions; they gave their story to a New Republic reporter, who posted the story at 3pm:

"Activists from Boston’s #BlackLivesMatter chapter plan to disrupt a Hillary Clinton event in Keene, New Hampshire, on Tuesday afternoon, asking her questions specifically about her platform on drug enforcement. The event, which was scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., is a community forum on substance abuse. Keene is one of many New England towns being affected by a heroin crisis." http://www.nycgazette.com/publicist-michael-bentley-says-bernie-sanders-...

However, CNN twitter, said the event began at 3:30pm.
Seems that for whatever the reason, the Clinton camp may have been tipped off as reports coming in on Twitter say the BLM folks could not get in, the doors were closed by SS; the event being full? https://twitter.com/danmericaCNN

Hum and LOL.

that Hillary will get a pass on this too. By being completely inaccessible, she keeps getting a pass by her supporters. Meanwhile, she waits for Sanders campaign to come out with his positions and programs and then does me too. At some point she is going to have to meet the people. She cannot hide forever behind $2,700 a plate donor dinners and pre-screened audiences.

on Hillary? Not very familiar with the Beyonce song the meme came from, but I'm given to understand that it's even more offensive applied to Hillary than it is applied to Bernie.

be a really sick order or demand. Bow down to what? Can't figure out what these two women want Bernie to bow down to. I have been fallowing the twitter end of this, even though I don't tweet, it does not seem to me that these two women do not reflect what the great movement of #BLM is about. It seems to be like OWS a movement with out 'leadership that is fueled with righteous anger. I can relate to this through OWS which was also a horizontal movement with no formal leadership. What ever any one globally decided was OWS was OWS. Trying to fit this kind of movement over a political partisan template does not work. I like this. Like Big Al or Glen Ford I want the Dems, as they stand, gone daddy gone. They are too corrupt and such psychos that the world would be better off if they just got vaporized or came to a bad end. Oh no's the Republicans would then win. So what they win all the time we dance to their tune. I do like Bernie as his revolution is political not violent, and in the immediate sense a last gasp appeal to electoral process. Might work and if it doesn't well who the fuck knows on to the off with their heads solution or on to a brave new world that is intolerable. Not really up to us is it? I place my hope in humans that will smash the machine and the revert to being savages with out technology to aid them in their savagery.

I am now early to bed, yesterday at I think as early as 9 pm.

I wished I could write sometimes. I let JtC down with writing Thursday's OTs. Doesn't feel good. But I don't have something to say that I could say in any public space. I am also just tired of talking to people anonymously. I like to know whom I am talking to. But this place is very kind and friendly. So, thanks, JtC and all the other kind souls.

Shaharazade is going to do this Thursday's, I think. She was going to do it last week, got sick so I did it....such as it was.

I was reading the New York Times today at the supermarket and came across two wonderful items to suggest to her. Now, an hour later, danged if I can remember! They were probably good too. Something about how things change. Maybe I can figure it out from the online edition if the Times will let me access it.

anyway, we all pitch in. That's how it *should* work!

We're in this together!

My OT tomorrow has nothing to do with politics. In fact, any OT does not need much substance at all.

What our OTs need is participation by commenters. Folks, please comment.
