Three basic concepts
Submitted by Cassiodorus on Sun, 07/16/2023 - 8:22amI've been reading these blogs by thinkers who have updated us as to the state of affairs in our declining civilization. Simplicius is the best example: most of his stuff is updates on the situation in Ukraine. Here's the most recent one.

What the Folk?

I'm off at a Georgia State Park with some music buddies. Our focus in this gathering is singing. If you know lots of songs, you have to play and sing them regularly in order to keep them resident in your mind. However, it is easy to lose some over the years, so our goal is to reclaim those songs and reinforce the songs we do know. People like to classify music based on genre. I've been called an old time, bluegrass, country, and folk musician. I prefer the folk label which is so broad as to include a variety of music.

Album of the Week 7-15-23
Submitted by joe shikspack on Sat, 07/15/2023 - 3:00pmAfternoon folks!
This week in the blues category we've got an album from Detroit bluesman and former sideman to John Lee Hooker, Eddie Kirkland. Following that, there's a late 70's B.B. King album.
Moving on to blues-rock, there's a 1977 album from Bonnie Raitt, albums by The Pirates and The Electric Flag. Following that there's some spacey-trippy music from Hawkind and we finish up with an album from Doc Watson - something for everybody? I dunno. Hope so.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Well the heat wave the rest of the southwest has been dealing with finally arrived in San Diego earlier this week. Inland from the coast where I live the temps have been in the upper 90s and are expected to remain there until the middle of next week before cooling off. Thankfully it's been cooling off enough at night to keep the house comfortable without having to run the A/C.
They say every dog has its day. These dogs were having their day Tuesday morning at Dog Beach in San Diego. There were breeds of all sizes, shapes, and colors enjoying their time running around on the beach sans leash.
