Watergate Break-in, 50th Anniversary
June 17 marks the 50th anniversary of the break-in of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters located on the 6th floor of the Watergate Hotel and Office complex in Washington, DC. The investigation into the break-in exposed a number of controversial actions (collectively known as “Watergate”) that led to the highest levels of the Nixon administration and ultimately to the President himself.

What does it say when your government cares more about the people of another nation than they do about the people they are supposed to represent? By care, I mean providing basic services.

A few weekends ago I went to Barona Dragstrip, a 1/8th mile track located on the Barona Indian reservation. Even though it's been years since I've been to a race track, you never forget the smell of racing fuel and tire smoke. It brought back memories of Saturday nights at the local 3/8th mile oval track pit crewing for a friend that raced in the late model sportsman class. There was a wide variety of cars from old to new and dedicated race cars to daily drivers. All the racing is bracket racing so the cars are racing the clock and not each other. Most of the cars topped out in the upper 90s to low 100s mph wise, with times between 6-7 seconds. The fastest car I saw made a pass in 5.6 seconds at 120 mph.
We've all heard this line before, but what you may not realize is just how durable the lie is.
For example, the lies that get us into wars persist today. I'm not talking about Bush's lies that got us into Iraq in 2003.
My older brother, let's just call him Mikey, enrolled at Blinn Junior College in 1967. The intent was for him to play football, but one of his final games in high school resulted in a concussion that could have killed him. He is 6 ft., wasn't eager to do tryouts against 6'5" rejects from University of Texas. So much for getting a scholarship.
So, he enrolled in a few classes. Before any tests, he would come home, and Mom would coach him.
But, he heard this rumor about a whorehouse nearby. Major academic distraction. That would be The Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas.
