Resilience: Democratic-Socialism & Appropriate Tech Revive A Rural Town

Resilience1.jpg
Would you like to find ways to make your local community more resilient, more viable, more self-sufficient? Democratic-Socialism emphasizes appropriate technology to develop local communities, especially in rural areas. We'll look briefly at E.F. Schumacher's chapter on Appropriate Technology in Small Is Beautiful. Then we'll look at the example of a small town in Bavaria, called Wilpoldsried, which macgyvered its way out of where corporatist "development" had left it for dead and into a profitable future using Renewable Energies, the very best appropriate technology for small communities. I think a society's quality is exemplified by the way it treats it's vulnerable and least empowered members. Let's examine how we are doing.

The Bends in the Road Ahead (or, How to be a non-Conformist)

We must mirror the message of Bernie now, while it's fresh. The governments are misbehaving, taking our money, and giving we the People nothing for it. More accurately, government taxes the Middle class, gives it to the 1%, and leaves us with very little for our contributions. Imagine if the cost of war could be eliminated. Then we could all get tax breaks!

I doubt I'll be voting for the lesser of 2 evils

The lesser of 2 evils. A concept we talked about in 8th grade history class. I turned 18 in 1976 and voted for Jimmy Carter, and have continually voted for the lesser of 2 evils my entire adult life. I have seriously considered writing in Bernie come November, I see no reason to continue this pattern.
