Good Afternoon and welcome to the Portland C99 meetup announcement and general info, as well as what I hope is a fun little discussion of philosophy.
Since I have realized that it's been far too long since we had a Portland Meetup. A small area where just for a few minutes even, we can step away from the chaos and enjoy the company of our fellows.
and our leaders who let the roof go, and let the sills rot and the foundations crack, let the garbage pile up and never mowed the lawn. Who lectured us on how they knew so much better and had it all under control. And to places like TOP who argues about buying new drapes and fight to the death about what color to paint the bathroom, while everything falls apart. Ding Dong, the Future's at the door.
Having some internet problems and technician is to be out today. May not be able to add comments until Friday. Please comment on any subject and anyone with garden reports add a note.
Having been absent from c99 for a while, not for lack of interest but because of life ("Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans"--J. Lennon). I have been a faithful lurker here to read many excellent essays and insightful commentary posted here. I have been aroused from my torpor by some interesting, though not necessarily political news.
So I had an interview yesterday afternoon. Wasn't but 20 minutes and I probably spent longer getting to and from via Lyft than at the actual interview. I didn't bother to tell my employment specialist until after the fact because HR looks down on ES types accompanying folks like me to interviews. Such a thing causes them to go "in a different direction."

The DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee voted 27 to 1 to block officeholders, DNC members, and other party dignitaries from casting decisive votes on the first ballot of presidential nominating conventions.
Of all the states to undergo a teachers strike this year, Oklahoma gave the teachers the least amount of concessions and the most disrespect.
For some time now, I have been trying to find a way to explain the sheer size of the climate change dilemmas. If merely pointing out the massive size were not a big enough problem by itself, the politicization of an engineering-industrial design-progressive economics matter made things worse.
