Some of us disagree with some others. We are strong enough to tolerate disagreement. There is no hatred here, and little vitriol that I've seen.
Macabre, murderous circuses like Charlottesville and the corresponding media furor do not shake us from our principles of reason, truth, and civility. They do not destroy our friendships.
Something Old, Something New will be back next week. I want to use my Open Thread this week to discuss an uncomfortable development in the ways we talk about race.
It seems that it's time to bring out this old speech, which has been in danger of being reduced to a cliche that people repeat but pay no real attention to:
I'm surprised and disappointed so many here are recommending this essay that promotes outright propaganda from an insidious right wing conservative, neocon and Zionist media outlet called the Weekly Standard.

The discourse about Trump is, in general: Oh My God It's the Apocalypse, This Unthinkable Horrible Extreme Person is President.

So says Alex Jones at Infowars.

My brother sent me this link this morning saying he didn't know if it was true or not but he thought it was interesting.
Feel free to use these memes and frames to discuss the politics of the day. Catapult this shit into the national public discourse as best you can. These memes and frames cover a lot of ground and have bipartisan applications.
They all build and work towards solidarity and point out the real, live bogeymen that are trashing our country.
Please, spread them far and wide...
