When this posts I will be camping on an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. I will worry, but not too much, about how this is being received. Once I wake up and get up and have coffee and let the cats out, that is. I could assign topics, like "Aleister Crowley and Anton La Vey - compare and contrast" or "You are the eyes of the world - discuss among yourselves", but that would defeat the purpose of an open thread. I might even get to check in via 'phone, but that remains to be seen.

Will TTIP Get Terminated? Negotiations Falter as Europe Balks
As EU-US trade talks flounder, France doesn't rule out 'an outright termination of negotiations'

Reversing Climate Change: What Will It Take?

On the weekend of September 21, 2014, people in 162 countries joined 2,646 events to demand global reductions in the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are generating climate catastrophe. An estimated forty thousand marched in London; thirty thousand in Melbourne; and twenty-five thousand in Paris. Some four hundred thousand joined the People's Climate March through the center of New York City. The climate protection movement had come a long way since 2006, when a march of one thousand through Burlington, Vermont proved to be the largest climate protest in American history. Yet, despite its exponential growth, whether and how the climate protection movement could realize its goals remained an open question.

Unfortunately, I may not have much time to interact with comments on today's Open Thread as the first of my back to back company will be arriving today. When it rains, it pours. My MIL and SIL are coming today and leaving on Thursday. That gives me just enough time to wash sheets and towels for company that is arriving on Friday. I feel like I am running a bed and breakfast. The two visits are unrelated, but just happened to come back to back.

I might not be here when this posts, but I'll get here eventually

Last week's instalment reminded me of a long deferred project to write a series at the GOS about "Power to the People". Not just a slogan, that was a real goal, and while a goal, also a means to an end, or to many ends, which, taken together, would attain power for the people, adhering in the people, and serving the people. Circular, but in a meaningful way.
