It's probably best for everyone concerned, including myself, that I just shut up now. If my opinions are causing folks to want to leave this site, perhaps it's best that I just silence myself.

As we are starting into early fall, I have noticed that my bird feeders need refilling more often. The shorter days trigger an internal body clock in the migratory birds and even for those that do not migrate, it seems as though they eat more from the feeders than during the summer. Here is a good article on bird migration from Cornell University which is my go to site on birds.

Here's a quickie Open Thread for you 99%'ers to post whatever you wish. Today is Labor Day and for some it is also the last day of summer.

I have written this Open Thread well in advance as I am now in Florida today attending a memorial service celebrating my father who died on August 21. My father was 92 years old and had been ill for several years. My father was a beautiful human being and a wonderful father. He and my mother knew each other as far back as grade school and theirs was a lifelong love story. I could not have asked for a better atmosphere to grow up in.

We all walk life's trail to the end. Some fall a lot, some race through, some timidly step, many are handicapped from the beginning; others are along the way; most follow the leader and into hell quite often. A few go it alone.

How Close Was Israel to Bombing Iran?

New evidence has now surfaced from former Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak that Israel came close to attacking Iran three times over the past few years – if you believe what “major” news media reported about the story. But you shouldn’t believe it.

Growing up, I was exposed to most types of music around. My mother loved classical music, my father loved jazz, and they both loved forties big band and Latin music. My mother is musical and played the piano by ear. When I was a child, my parents gave me and my sister piano lessons. I stuck with it for four years but still cannot play very well. My sister made it six months and quit. But despite my failing to learn an instrument, I have always enjoyed music.

I am just going to post a quickie Open Thread for today. It is not my regular day and we are still in need of someone to post the Open Thread for Tuesday Mornings. It can be as little or as much as you wish.
