This is the first time I'm writing anything on this site.
I feel privileged to be a part of continuing dialogues and debates here and remind myself on this Martin Luther King Day that the stakes are high for all of us who struggle for change.
Make no mistake about it: the political elites, whatever their party label, have got exactly what they wanted this election.
American's ignorance of basic historical facts is well documented.
In fact, the results from some polls is downright alarming.

It's a beautiful 4th of July Sunday here in LeBron (and Lindor?) land today and being an elderly Boomer, on nice summer holidays, I might be found playing a few summery tunes. Given that I caught the muscle car fever when I was a kid and have never lost it, it's predictable that I would enjoy some of those old "car tunes" from the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean and their contemporaries as a way of feeling a bit younger than my bones today.
Hey, good Morning. This Monday Morning Open Thread is due to be published by 6:00 am Pacitic Time. Johnny says it must be up by 5:00 am Pacific time to meet that deadline (the server must be running Windows). Hence, it is being drafted and queued Sunday evening and I will show up as soon as I get up and get going. (As a retiree, I have a lot of flexibility in that regard.)
Here's a quick question: What was the progressive community outraged about last week? How about last month?
I'm not talking about real issues, like inequality or the Forever War we are engaged in.
I'm talking about the never-ending serious of petty outrages that the online community loves and can't do without. You know what I'm talking about.
I'm going to try something that I haven't done before. I'm going to start writing this essay without knowing how it ends.
I've lately come to realize that the Identity Politics that have come to dominate the political landscape of late, looks suspiciously like the Lifestyle Marketing that dominates the consumer culture.
