Alarmists like to accuse Donald Trump of being a new Hitler or Mussolini, when in fact he's a lot closer to being a new Berlusconi. The comparison fits so well that nothing more needs to be said, except for one critical element - Italy in 1994 looks nothing like the United States of 2017.
Gah. We have been doing our usual deal camping in Africa for a couple of months etc since April and only checking in from time to time, but when we do we are astounded at the attacks on all we hold dear by the current gov, the duopoly, and Mr. Trump.
This afternoon, instead of being out getting in some exercise further exploring old Venetia we got roped into reading C99 and other news.
Eight months since the election, and six months since Trump entered the White House and nothing important has changed.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette announced the fourth round of criminal charges in the Flint water crisis. The state charged five persons with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Robert Skidmore by Legionnaire's disease. An outbreak of the waterborne disease, which killed 12 and struck dozens more, followed the switch of the city's water from the Detroit system to the Flint River.
Among those charged are Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon and former Flint emergency manager Darnell Early. Lyons is accused of failing to alert the public to the outbreak of the disease for a year after he became aware of it. He is also charged with misconduct in office for instructing an official to stop study that would help find the cause of the disease outbreak.
The state also charged Michigan Chief Medical Executive Dr. Eden Wells with obstruction of justice and lying to a police officer. The obstruction of justice charge alleges that Wells threatened to withhold funding for the Flint Area Community Health and Environment Partnership if it did not stop its investigation into the source of the disease outbreak.

It wasn't a proud moment for America.
Theoretically when a politician wins he rewards his voters, or at least spares them some of the pain.
However, Donald Trump isn't a normal politician. He does things differently.
The discourse about Trump is, in general: Oh My God It's the Apocalypse, This Unthinkable Horrible Extreme Person is President.
But for the most part he's not doing anything that all the other politicians haven't been doing for quite a while. In some cases, for decades.
After the fifth online article I read today claiming how Donald Trump has been "turned (by the deep state), persuaded (by the deep state), has had a change of heart", etc., I decided to go on a rant. Confucius say, "rants are good for the soul".
(or at least according to Amazon) is a new book, Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign. This book is no doubt for those who are still amazed at what a loser Clinton was and is.
