The Political Kabuki Theater

Another busy week in the news cycle. It was the debate which prompted this week's theme. Almost all the commentary I heard about the variety of stories we'll look at today mention the theatrical aspects of what is presented to the people. Censor what the TPTB don't want you to hear, and promote the propaganda with theatrical stories to reinforce the narrative....you know Ukraine is winning, Hamas raped Israelis, Putin plans to conquer the EU, and China's economy is in collapse, as a few examples. Let's start with a great example as Thomas Massie explains the congressional economic policy play.
More corruption at the Fed
Submitted by gjohnsit on Sat, 09/14/2024 - 11:20pmAs far as I am aware, there is only three federal government agencies that have no legally enforceable code of ethics: the presidency, the SCOTUS, and the Federal Reserve, In many ways the Pentagon is included, but not officially.
Album of the Week 9-14-24
Submitted by joe shikspack on Sat, 09/14/2024 - 3:00pmAfternoon folks!
This is another good week for the blues. Starting off we've got a late 70's Muddy Waters album, followed by a collection of Chicago blues acts (Carey Bell, Magic Slim & The Teardrops and Johnny "Big Moose" Walker) and finishing off with a compilation of LaVern Baker singles. After that, it's blues rock time with a greatest hits comp from Wet Willie, a later 70's Climax Blues Band album, an Elvin Bishop album and a Pretty Things album. We finish off in the diversity department with a hard to pigeonhole stylistically, but nonetheless interesting album from Don Nix.
Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

I have had quite a week, friends! I tried to keep up with the news as best I could, but stuff and things get by me when I am immersed in work. This one was very intense.
Let us know what went into the Friday news dump! Please!
Friday Night Photos Walkabout Coronado Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 09/13/2024 - 5:00pmWelcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.
Well, after a week of triple digit temps things finally cooled off on Wednesday. The last two days have been in the low to mid 80s with a mild breeze, dropping to the upper 50s at night. The 7 day forecast calls for more of the same. Infinitely better.
On Tuesday the camera club had its monthly outing in Coronado, a spit of land in the San Diego bay with a land bridge (the Silver Strand) running south to Imperial Beach at the south end of the bay, and a man made bridge (Coronado bridge) going east to San Diego. Coronado is an odd mix of a famous hotel (Hotel del Coronado where the movie Some Like It Hot was filmed), multi million dollar beach and bay front homes, a lot of trendy shops, and 2 navy bases (one of which I worked at for 20 years).
