For Discussion Purposes: Video Games, Movies, Guns.

The other day I posted this on Facebook. I'm curious to see what C99ers have to say about it since you/we are a different sort of crowd.

maybe it *is* the "video games". Along with other sick weirdnesses of our national culture. Yes, there's the availability of guns, obviously. But then...so I was at the Hawthorne Hideaway last night to see the Zags.

The Hoseman Cometh

The squirrels Sunday were in stampede upon the roof. Don’t know what that was about. I mean, the squirrels are always scampering around on the roof. But generally they’re not in great noise about it.

Maybe: a celebration. That they could even be on the roof. Because ten months ago Sunday, nobody was on the roof. Because there wasn’t enough air up there. Squirrels, in their druthers, will move through the air—trees, wires, roofs, etc. But, in the fire, the squirrels stuck to the ground. So did the birds. Because the air had gone wrong. Restlessly moving in my rounds about the house, I, for hours, disturbing little clouds, of ground-bound birds. Flying no more than a foot off the ground. Because the air—their world—had gone bad on them. All, was fire.

Second Update: DNC States Tulsi Did Not Get 3rd Qualifying Poll

Second Update:

The DNC has said they are only counting the ABC/Washington Post results for All responders, and therefore Tulsi only got 1%, and that does not count as a qualifying poll.

Very convenient for them.

The Oily, Greasy, Slippery Slope of American Empire

Last week I posed the question asking why the oligarchs are destroying our ecosystem when they too will suffer the biological consequences. The more I thought about this question, I started hypothesizing that they too are owned by the very corporations they started...or at least operate in order to promote their corporations' profits rather than improving the human condition (and their own condition despite their claim of philanthropy). The oil companies make my point ...destroying ecosystems for profits in order to fulfill their bank loans.

Tulsi to Campaign until the Convention and New Polls (Non-Qualifying)

In Dover, New Hampshire yesterday, Tulsi announced she is in the competition all the way until the Democratic Convention next summer.

Tulsi in until Convention

In the Economist/YouGov national poll, Tulsi measures as the first choice for 3% of respondents (of course a non-qualifying poll, see page 126):
