Wherein I venture out onto a flimsy limb

I totally admit I am no legal scholar and therefore would be better off avoiding analysis of possible SCOTUS nominees, but I see that rightwing voices are not so adept at such self-knowledge and may need to have their motives questioned.

It says here that PEOTUS (emphasis on the pee) met with one of his short-listers for Scalia's seat on Saturday.

Judge William Pryor of the 11th Circuit is manifestly no liberal, but some conservative voices are trying to paint him as leaning that way because of a couple of rulings in which he joined with the majority in favor of rulings beneficial to LGBT Americans.

The Personhood Alliance (like America needed another such organization) is up in arms about the fact that he sided with a ruling that firing a transwoman from her position with the Georgia General Assembly because she transitioned was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause (Glenn v Bumbry) and that Augusta State University did not violate a Christian student's free speech rights by requiring her to undergo remediation prior to being allowed to participate in practicum as a psychological counsellor because she believed that she should be allowed to either reject LGBT clients or subject such clients to reparative therapy (Keeton v Anderson-Wiley).

Judge Pryor is no Scalia, and is manifestly unfit to succeed him. With his track record, we cannot risk having him on the court as we await the Supreme Court to deliberate on the cases considering the rights of children to be protected in their school bathrooms.

More than a Scalia, Judge Pryor resembles the long list of Republican appointed liberal judges. As Judge Pryor himself once prayed, 'please, God, no more Souters.'

--Gualberto Garcia Jones. National Policy Director of Personhood Alliance

An objective review of Judge Pryor’s decisions in Glenn v. Brumby and Keeton v. Anderson-Wiley leads to the conclusion that he has failed to interpret the Constitution as the framers intended.

Accordingly, he lacks support from many conservative leaders who, like President-Elect Trump, believe that Justice Scalia’s seat must be filled with a nominee who has a deep record of commitment to the Constitution.

--Judicial Action Group

One suspects that painting Prior as "liberal" may be intended more to help assure his affirmation by Congress than to prevent his nomination.
