Please listen to this
I am going to do something I never do and that is post a video without analysis. Tim Black has posted this video from his call in show. It is almost 25 minutes long and is the audio of just one woman who called in recently. He has posted her call as a stand alone video without any comment because of the importance of what she had to say about our government and our society.
It is my hope that some of you here will find the time to listen to her very passionate speech. Her voice quavers at times and I am not sure it is due to age or more likely, that she is crying. If you can, please find the time to listen to Laura from Alaska.

I would love to know what everyone here thinks about her speech. I know that she spoke for me.
Comments
She is certainly knowledgeable.
I want to weep.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Love Tim Black. Great
show! Not surprised
he let her keep going.
Now going viral. Posted to FB.

Well done is better than well said-Ben Franklin
The government isn't 'corrupt'.
It simply went back to the way it always was after it sabotaged the Soviet Union. With the Soviet Union dead, no party even has to pay lip service to working class issues or even tries to maintain the illusion of 'Social Democracy'. Instead, they let the capitalists go balls deep in this country with total and open hostility to workers of all stripes.
Be honest: Do you really expect anything else from a government that does nothing but serve the capitalist class? That's something that most disillusioned people here and elsewhere can't seem to grasp.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

Not one word in what she said was wrong.
It breaks my heart. She cried. And it made me want to cry. I would push her wheelchair in the front rows to occupy Congress. She leads the revolution that needs to be followed. It's a lesson for this community and everyone should take her words to heart.
Thank You gulfgal98.

"We are the terrorists" Right on granny!
She sounds kinda over medicated to me, but good rant though. Epic. "Laura" from "Alaska" could be any number of people here. We are all on the same page, where is everyone else? Reading a different book entirely I think, I don't know if it's an age gap or a wage gap or what. Knowledge gap. LOL forget it, history is repeating, anguish infinitum.
Taxes filed, time to chill? Not so fast, says IRS
Hey California, just chill. Doing nothing (to maintain status quo) IS doing something (to force alternatives), that's what I always say.
Thanks
She speaks for ME!
Thanks, gulfgal!
Goes to show how up on issues this site is because we have been talking about every issue she brought up. Well done Blue Blog!
Let's slip the Red Pill in the water supply.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
Bernie Sanders to the rescue!!!
If only this woman would get with the program, and realize that when Bernie and his fellow CIA-MIC-connected Democrats take over Congress, we'll be well on our way to righting all these wrongs. Then she wouldn't be crying so much, and she'd have HOPE!! She really needs to come to this C99% and imbibe the wisdom and agendas of all of the Bernie supporters here. Then she won't feel so bad.
On a more serious note, in case there's anyone wondering where Nancy Pelosi learned politics, you may not know it, but her dad was a mayor of Baltimore for many years, and part of the Democratic machine there. According to this article, he also was a companion of "made men." Thus, Nancy learned early on, how and for what real purposes the game of politics is played (probably also explains how she got so rich):
http://bitterqueen.typepad.com/friends_of_ours/2015/07/fbi-files-congres...
This would also possibly explain why Maryland-connected, Pelosi-second-in-command, Steny Hoyer, sounds like a "wise guy" in this video, as he talks a progressive candidate out of running for the Democratic Party nomination for Congress:

Do we live in a GREAT country, or what? Two different Mafia
families, er, parties to choose from!!!Gangsters and tyrants, and their enablers and sycophants, rule us.
Can we do without the sniping?
I refer to this, of course:
We just re-established that this is a non-partisan site, where those who love Bernie and those who are less inclined that way can interact respectfully with each other. We don't have to agree, but we do need to respect differing viewpoints (unlike some other place), or this place will fail as that other has.
Was just going to respond to this too.
First, thanks Soylent for the link about Pelosi probably being from dirty goomba money. That would make sense. What's she worth now? "uh, er, we're capitalists...," as she famously said.
Thanks for attending to it, dym (by the way, how are you?).
I think it's pretty clear we almost unanimously feel the same way about the system and what we're up against. Having an inside/outside approach to it seems the most prudent thing we can do at the moment.

Not necessarily,
Fine. I'll lay off the sniping.
But that works both ways, and I've received my share of it too, before I did what I just did.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
She is saying what a lot of people are saying
maybe not all at once, but we are not all asleep. I don't believe people consistently vote against their own interests. There are too many things that always go in one direction, away from the peoples interests.
That was uniquely powerful.
So cogent, passionate and broad-ranging, from a homespun woman who clearly has observed a lot and can connect the dots so readily.
Love her viewpoint of that from small town life, in which one did let another go unattended or abandoned in times of need, even if you didn't like that person or they didn't like you. So much to be said of the cold, manipulative duopoly propaganda that turns us all into vicious partisans. Divide and conquer. As old as civilization in some ways. You'd think we'd be a the point of evolving away from this garbage at some point (but no one reads history).
Truth is people one on one are not like the way we are portrayed by the venal media and their penchant sensationalism, misinformation and omission (why aren't people like this ever heard from, or stories of people helping one another, forming community bonds or just plain old "good stories" about compassionate, selfless human beings - how about that unarmed young black man who fought and disarmed that murderer on a spree at a restaurant in Tennessee? Should have been pronounced a hero, a word we so carelessly throw around that it's lost its meaning) .
In the big picture, as human beings the only way society ever came about in the first place is because we are not he-man individualists. We are social beings who have collaborated and cooperated to first of all survive but then to have gotten to where we are now. That gets buried in the snowjob of the Great Lies of the American Dream and American Exceptionalism, which is the core of all this dopey RW propaganda about pulling your bootstraps up which results in resentment voting.
So much to say really about her magnificent rant but I'm out of time here. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, GG. And Tim Black. Man, his show is really great. Such a sharp, real dude, with great perceptive ability and a really big heart. We've got some great folks out there holding the torch and bringing us all together (read the comments on YouTube also, excellent). Leading me to believe there are a lot more folks in this world, forget the country, who are like us at C99 than our politicians and media would like us to believe.
Has anyone thought of transcribing this/have the time? Really would be great to circulate around (though here delivery is quite emotional and affecting). Some people would rather read than spend 25 minutes watching (including most of the time myself).
"If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:

Wow!!! This comment is so great!
I love Tim Black too. He is a big and imposing man but so full of humanity. It spoke very well of where his own heart lies in that he let her use his platform for 25 minutes without interruption. He understood the power of her words.
We describe ourselves in political terms such as left or right or progressive or conservative, but perhaps we need to redefine how we describe ourselves with a more inclusive term, such as humanist or something similar. This is exactly what Laura from Alaska was talking about.

Transcribing it would be great, Mark
What would be greater is getting this on Breitbart, or Redstate, or any of the rw sites because she speaks to them also. Her homely, rural manner is exactly them, to a tee.
She appealed to all of us in a unique way that did transend party, idealogy, color, and city/rural divide.
This is our real challenge. Connecting with the other side.
How do we do this?
The answer to this is what will save humanity.
IMHO
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
That’s it, earthling.
That’s what Nader has been talking about. The potential tsunami wave of the 99% coalescing, made up of pissed-off Dem and Rep partisans who are realizing they’ve both been played.
I’d happily do the transcribing. With YouTube now most videos have a “open transcript” feature, which is some work but saves a lot of time listening and stopping constantly.
I did a lot of that this morning on an amazing Jimmy Dore interview with Glenn Greenwald for an essay.
But right now I’m gettting pretty pumped up listening to Rev Barber on WBAI talking about the Poor People’s Campaign agenda. Very exciting and potentially potent. Nonviolent direct action, loads of cross religious and non leaders (Barber also talked about their wonderful tactic of compiling firsthand stories of the poor and marginalized, all over Kentucky, WV, etc. To me nothing melts the callousness of the comfortable than having to look into the eyes of such people).
Got the boy tugging at my leg, with an acoustic guitar leaning next to him. I’ve got way too much going on here.
Will someone transcribe this for us?
You’re right. This beautiful, heavy rant potentially bridges a lot of the divide.

Also, what she said about
our elected offices being taken over by CIA struck a nerve.
I still think our only option is to elect poor or working class people and deluge the legislatures across the nation with a constant stream of newbies.
They long ago stopped legislating for "us", lets effin' stop them from legislating for "them".

That woman was amazing. And she had
a full understanding of human nature and our country’s history at her fingertips. She even managed to work the dangers of our new intrusive technology into her rant.
I am a fan if Laura from Alaska. Why isn’t SHE running our country? I’m writing her in in 2020 because looking at the choices TPTB allow us just isn’t good enough.

Wow, thank you for that.
I wasn't sure I would get through it, my own urge to cry is right under the surface right now, and I did of course cry a bit. She sounds like someone who's railed this before and few listen to her. She sounds like me when I get real wound up sometimes after a few drinks. She is spot on, she's as scared as we are, maybe more but I don't know. I identify with her. Great job on her part, she nailed it all. I'll have to watch more Tim Black.

Riveting. She launched her history recitation, facts, solutions on an anecdotal act of community decency that just make such compelling reason. She hurts, she is rural/countrified, whip smart, the antithesis of the stereotype. She is my heart. Very moving statement of her opinions, and why she has them
Tim Black is great to let her riff.

I forwarded a link to this to Tim Black
and noted to him of the great comments. I do not know if he will see it, but I thought he should know how much this woman touched so many of us here.
For those who have never watched Tim Black, I highly recommend him. If I could use one word to describe him, it would be humanist. On an aside, he is also a good friend of Lee Camp's.

I did what I could for now, here is the draft for copy pasta to fix what I couldn't make out(?) and stuff:
Thanks
Wow, eyo! You are amazing.
You transcribed it!
It's great to have this for posterity.
To me, this is what a lot of the internet and C99 is about: giving a platform to otherwise marginalized voices and preserving these existential cries out for not only future generations, but for us to know that we are not alone.
That there are so many similar voices to ours around the globe who feel similarly about what a sham this whole capitalist rat race is, and the viciousness of the monsters who pit us against one another to keep us on the treadmill of their dehumanized status quo.
I hope earthling sees this and can share it with some of those RW sites he talked about.
Thanks again, eyo! Great job.

Thank you so much, eyo. Deeply appreciated.
