Among other events late August saw the convening of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of commerce in Palm Springs, CA. Among the presentations was a 75-minute discussion about transgender inclusivity in the workplace. Conducted by Beck Bailey of the Human Rights Campaign and Chris Crespo of Ernst & Young, the discussion outlined best practices for companies and coworkers in order to foster an inclusive environment.

Earlier this week, the Urban Institute released a report on an exploratory study meant to gauge the impact of hunger and food insecurity on children. The study is available on their website and is titled Impossible Choices: Teens and Food Insecurity in America.

Anger can look like hate. It's not. Hate is the face we give to fear when we don't want to look afraid. Hate is also the title we give to other people's anger when we don't want to acknowledge why someone is angry.
Hate is a proactive, destructive act, and we [feel we] must destroy what we hate.
Different than being "upset" at a loss that we knew was a potential outcome to any event, anger is a reactive state to a loss that shouldn't have happened.
