Has This All Gone Too Far?

I'm a bit worried about the state of America at the moment. My friends and family are suggesting we should invoke Article 25 to have DJT removed from office. After 9 days of being President.

This strikes me as being a bit harsh, because I don't see any "the republic is on the brink" reasons to invoke this clause for the first time in the nation's history. By the way, this is by no means a defense of DJT or his henchmen, or his negligently underqualified cabinet.

Who's In Charge of "American Values"? And Who Has the Power?

In the present situation, I'll depart from my original intention of discussing the continuity and discontinuity emerging in the Trump Presidency. Everyday now, everyone I see proclaims to hold dear "American Values", but everyone in America and the rest of the world doesn't understand or experience these values in the same way. So I'll take a different path for now.

The other day my employment specialist sent me a link to a job with the college I got my degrees from for a part time administrative assistant. Let me just tell you right off the bat that the requirements...I'm sorry, 'minimum qualifications' for the job are flat out insane. Here, let me post what I mean below:

I've been waiting to say that, "Donald Trump is a War Criminal". Like Obama, the Bush's and the Clinton's, now Donald Trump is a verifiable war criminal, a murderer. He has waged illegal war in Yemen and killed innocent human beings.

We have another murderer for president. A child killer. Another United States government criminal wanted for the crime of murder. Support that and it's on you too.

A week after the UK opened membership in the Girl Guides to transgender girls, a few days after the Irish Girl Guides followed suit, and facing a lawsuit over discriminating against New Jersey trans boy, Joe Maldonado, The Boy Scouts of America has announced that it will begin accepting members based on gender identity.

For more than 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America, along with schools, youth sports and other youth organizations, have ultimately deferred to the information on an individual’s birth certificate to determine eligibility for our single-gender programs. However, that approach is no longer sufficient as communities and state laws are interpreting gender identity differently, and these laws vary widely from state to state.

They don't sound so enthusiastic about accepting trans kids.

The Blood Would Be On His Hands

I really do hope Trump backs off like Presidents before him from relocating the US Embassy to Jerusalem. We have done some blindingly awful things in the Middle-East over the decades, notably refusing to settle the Israel/Palestine conflict. Our support has been strictly unilateral i.e. Israel and is the root cause of mistrust throughout the region of the US as a independent arbitrator. Moving the Embassy would be seen as the cherry on the cake of our war crimes in the region.

Quite honestly, at this point, the Democrats have nothing left to lose. Given that fact, you would think that a Party in such extremis would finally throw caution to the winds and take out the desiccated and expired metaphorical gunpowder they have been saving lo these many years in coffee cans in their backyards.
