If you're old enough to remember what this meant. And what it still means today. It's about We the People, man. It's about human beings, we're all the same, except the bastards at the top that want war. Fuck them, Sleep with one eye open.

My granddaughter went to her first concert
last Friday night. Billie Eilish. She's almost 15. She came home barely able to talk and said she jumped around all night. Loved it. Music, ya.
So I said, check this out, and showed her the Metallica video from Moscow. Hard to explain to her the significance of that concert for some of us older folks who lived through the first cold war. So it didn't hit her like it does me. I'm kind of a sap for shit like this, gives me hope. We all have to find it where we can.
Ah... but we DO want their stinking war

At least, the vast majority of people still caught in their Matrix.
A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

Fuck them?
I wouldn't. Cthulhu only knows what I'd bring home. And it's certain they would not respect me in the morning!

This time will be different!
I actually think the cold war had some good (accidental) benefits. We came out of WW2 with the New Deal in still place. Since we (peasants) were still trying to find work and resume our lives, the only place to find funding was the corporations. So the government relied on the New Deal tax system. With the Cold War that need for funding was locked in place along with the New Deal. So, accidentally good for us.
Now that bipartisanship fixed that mistake we're ready for Cold War 2, and the tab falls on all us little people. We have massive military and weapons build up to confront China, while having them continue to build and ship all their stuff to us. Russia too. When Chelsea Clinton becomes president she'l fix their little red wagon for stealing mommies election.
Just like baby bush
fixed the irackies for slighting his daddy.

American Rock in Moscow
Russians, especially young adults, love American/British rock from the 1960s and 70s. That's what you hear in bars and dance clubs in Russia, plus a mix of Russian hard rock. They ask me constantly about that time in US history, about the cultural revolution and about свободна, which means freedom, in the US during that period, and the great music that happened. I think that there is a major reason for this - Russia is very much like the US was at that time. Tremendous freedom combined with a very inexpensive cost of living. The second part is extremely important. Today in the US the middle class are all indentured servants to the corporations, the rich and the MIC, through the mechanism of economic rent. You need economic freedom to be creative, to have your own time to experiment. Russians are very well educated, they have the highest percentage of a college education of any country on the planet. They have access to ideas and material means to achieve those, and the freedoms. I sat in a group of Americans and Russians and one young naive American offered the opinion that Russians do not enjoy the same level of freedoms that we do in the US. He got buried in anger and counter argument from the Russian side, with examples. Russia is building extremely livable cities, with lots of social support, guaranteed by the Russian government and the cities. That provides the platform to enjoy freedom. I'm not surprised that Metallica had a huge reception in Moscow.
The US can produce all of the false provocations that it can dream up, the fact is that it just guarantees that Russia and China and most of the civilized world will not follow the US, or even allow it to influence the direction of development. What most people in the US just don't see is that Russia and China are very busy building up their own countries and barely notice the US's provocations, except to be mildly annoyed. It's preposterous to think that they would expend any energy to effect elections in the US. Whereas the opposite is definitely not true.
Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.
