An unusually good in-depth article about the CIA

You don't often see well-researched, deep-dive journalism anymore, so I thought I would bring this one to your attention. It's called "The Night Raids" by Lynzy Billing.
She spent years researching what was essentially murder squads created by CIA as they committed one war crime after another.

In a sane world, this report would be big news. Instead, I haven't seen a single news outlet pick this up.
In Congress, the GOP is preparing an investigation into Afghanistan.
Is the GOP going to investigate these obvious war crimes? Nope.
Is the GOP going to investigate the decades of lies fed to the American public in order to perpetuate this war? Nope.
They are only going to ask the question of why we stopped lying and committing war crimes. As if that's the scandal.

and reexaminations of ‘policy’ to evaluate if stated purpose and actual outcome are related or disparate. This is due to the fact that they don’t actually give a shit about reality, their business is supporting prior lies with more lies. In this regard they are very competent, as evidenced by the great number of credulous or ignorant citizens who continue to re-elect them.

This self perpetuating conundrum was thoroughly examined in The Republic of Plato many centuries ago. This seemingly inescapable tendency for positions of power to attract those most poorly suited to enhancing the well being of others; egotists, narcissists, pathological liars, scam artists, perverts and child molesters. In other words, the most twisted, self serving dregs of the human race.

Periodically, the poorly served citizenry wake from their stupor and throw the bums out. New sociopaths begin their ascension toward power on the next tide. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I don’t see this cycle stopping any time soon, neither did Socrates 24 centuries ago.

@The Liberal Moonbat I had heard about Sterling Seagrave's book on Dave Emory's Spitfire List a year or two ago. I listened to him recount the stories in it. He also posted a link to the book but only the first 80 pages or so were free, the rest was behind a pay wall. One of the Japanese in charge of war time looting of gold in occupied areas was Yoshio Kodama, who basically ran the underworld and covert operations in the Japanese Imperial Empire.

Kodama, Kishi Nobusuke (Abe's grandfather), Ryoichi Sawakawa, were held together as WWII class A war criminals in Sugamo Prison, but were released by the US to become the future power brokers of post war "democratic Japan."
