United Nations Report Implicates Obama as Evictor in Chief

"20 people are newly displaced every minute of the day"

I often describe former president Obama as a war criminal responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands and the displacement of millions. During his reign he, or "they" started wars in Libya, Syria, Yemen in coordination with Saudi Arabia and Sudan/South Sudan while continuing the war OF terror and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not to mention Ukraine, Venezuela, Colombia, Congo, etc., etc. All illegal, unjust and immoral imperialist wars and operations.

It's hard to pin down the number of deaths caused by U.S. wars and imperialism under Obama, it depends on what deaths you count. Relative to the displacement number of "millions", a new United Nations report ("Global Trends, Forced Displacement in 2016") verifies the stunning number of people evicted from their homes because of "persecution, conflict, violence, or human rights violations." By far the largest numbers are from the countries the United States and allies have attacked in one way or another.

"Over the past two decades, the global population of forcibly displaced people has grown substantially from 33.9 million in 1997 to 65.6 million in 2016, and it remains at a record high. The growth was concentrated between 2012 and 2015, driven mainly by the Syrian conflict along with other conflicts in the region such as in Iraq and Yemen, as well as in sub-Saharan Africa including Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, and Sudan."

http://www.unhcr.org/globaltrends2016/

We can't place all the blame on Obama of course, it's more of a symbolic blame, and he's far from the only war criminal responsible for the crimes against humanity committed via U.S. imperialism. Relative to the above mentioned countries, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are next on the list. But he deserves the most vitriol for U.S. war crimes against those countries and people because he played the role of President of the Indispensable Empire. Then there are the scumbag white robes in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the zionists in Israel, Turkey and their crazy man Edrogan and various NATO governments completely subservient to the evil oligarchies that control our lives, and for many, whether they live or die. War criminals and psychopaths abound on planet Earth.

It's hard enough trying to get people to pay attention to the death toll of U.S. imperialism, let alone the "collateral damage" resulting in people being forced from their homes, "displacement" being the official "human rights" term. When I mention that Obama has been responsible for the displacement of millions, I think most people read it and don't really register what it means. Displaced? Millions?

"One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic."
Joseph Stalin (alleged)

I wrote an essay not long ago about a movie focusing on a guy who got into the eviction business, after he and his family were evicted, by going to work as an evictor for a bank in coordination with "law" enforcement. It was an emotional drama focused on families experiencing evictions, the hardships involved, and the moral dilemma of a former evictee turned evictor.

Multiply that by many millions and you've got what the U.S. government, led by the President/Evictor in Chief, fully supported by literally the entire Congress and Senate, are doing to much of the planet.

Do you think that keeps them up at night like the guy in the movie?

"We think it was worth it".

"During 2016 alone, 10.3 million people were "newly displaced by conflict or persecution. This included 6.9 million individuals displaced within the borders of their own countries and 3.4 million new refugees and new asylum-seekers."

The United States directed war against Syria, in effect started long ago but escalated to the end stage by war criminal Obama in 2011, has created a refugee crisis unmatched since WWII.

"In 2010, Wikileaks published hundreds of thousands of classified State Department cables, including a 2006 cable showing that destabilizing the Syrian government was a primary goal of U.S. policy in the Middle East. The ultimate intention was to topple Iran, one of Syria’s closest allies. The cable revealed that the U.S.’ goal at the time was to undermine the Syrian government by any means available.

The declassified document was written in July, 1986 by the Foreign Subversion and Instability Center, a part of the CIA’s Mission Center for Global Issues, and is titled “Syria: Scenarios of Dramatic Political Change.” As the document itself states, its purpose is to analyze – in a “purposely provocative” manner – “a number of possible scenarios that could lead to the ouster of President Assad [Bashar al-Assad’s father, Hafez] or other dramatic change in Syria.”

http://www.mintpressnews.com/declassified-cia-report-exposes-25-years-u-...

During 2016
"Altogether, more than half (55 per cent) of all refugees worldwide came from just three countries:
•Syrian Arab Republic (5.5 million)
•Afghanistan (2.5 million)
•South Sudan (1.4 million)"

"Children below 18 years of age constituted about half of the refugee population in 2016, as in recent years. Children make up an estimated 31 per cent of the total world population."

"More than half of the Syrian population lived in displacement in 2016, either displaced across borders or within their own country."

"Syrians continued to be the largest forcibly displaced population, with 12 million people at the end of 2016. Colombians were the second-largest group, followed by Afghans. Other large displaced populations at the end of 2016 included Iraq and South Sudan."

"Looking at the forcibly displaced as a proportion of the national population, the Syrian Arab Republic (Syria) was the most affected, with 650 out of every 1,000 people forcibly displaced. "

The largest group of refugees was made up of the 5.5 million Syrians forced to flee. Refugees from Afghanistan were the second largest group according to country of origin. Their numbers decreased from 2.7 million at the end of 2015 to 2.5 million at the end of 2016 due to returns from Pakistan, although a substantial number (1.4 million) still remain there. The Islamic Republic of Iran reported 951,100 Afghan refugees and a further 110,500 were spread over Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy and Greece."

The crisis in Sudan is growing significantly and getting little news. This is the result of another of Obama's wars which few are aware of.

"The Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, of the United States is funding a dirty war in South Sudan. The war in South Sudan is little different than the wars the CIA funded in Angola and Mozambique, to name two of the most infamous.

The CIA is using a mercenary warlord named Riek Machar, who has a long history of ethnic massacres and mass murder to his credit, to try and overthrow the internationally recognized government of President Salva Kiir for the crime of doing business with rivals of Pax Americana, the Chinese.

It is in the “national interests” of the U.S. to deny China access to African energy resources and the Sudanese oil fields are the only Chinese owned and operated in Africa. It's that simple—the war in South Sudan is about denying China access to Africa’s oil."

http://www.telesurtv.net/english/opinion/The-CIAs-Dirty-War-in-South-Sud...

"The fastest-growing refugee population was spurred by the crisis in South Sudan. This group grew by 64 per cent during the second half of 2016 from 854,100 to over 1.4 million, the majority of whom were children."

"In 2016, the South Sudanese refugee crisis was the fastest growing in the world. The large number of infants, children, and pregnant women among the South Sudanese refugees made the humanitarian response particularly challenging. South Sudan and the neighbouring countries are among the poorest and least developed countries in the world, with limited resources to deal with the needs and challenges associated with hosting displaced people."

I am hoping that this perception has more to do with these mentally ill criminals tending to concentrate disproportionately in positions of power, a perverted form of natural selection as it were.

I know many more decent people with an intact moral compass and healthy ability to feel compassion than I do narcissists and psychopaths. The problem is that many of these decent humans are fast asleep to the psychopathy of power or blindly trusting that our governance is driven by good intentions.

Perhaps the sleepers will some day awaken and throw the bums out, but at the moment it seems that the pocket versions of Winston's video minders are firmly entrenched in our modern societies, spewing and endless stream of distractions and disinformation that takes what little possibility there is for a mass awakening and squashing it like a bug.

People often prefer to believe or ignore a lie than to expose and confront it.

There was nothing organic about opposition to Assad in Syria. This "civil war" was engineered, armed and fomented from the very beginning by the war mongers within the US.

How America Armed Terrorists in Syria

June 23, 2017
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s “Stop Arming Terrorists Act” to curb weapons going to Al Qaeda-linked jihadists in Syria, has attracted only 14 co-sponsors pointing to hypocrisy in the “war on terror,” as Gareth Porter explained at The American Conservative.
...
The policy of arming military groups committed to overthrowing the government of President Bashar al-Assad began in September 2011, when President Barack Obama was pressed by his Sunni allies — Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — to supply heavy weapons to a military opposition to Assad they were determined to establish. Turkey and the Gulf regimes wanted the United States to provide anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to the rebels, according to a former Obama administration official involved in Middle East issues.

Obama refused to provide arms to the opposition, but he agreed to provide covert U.S. logistical help in carrying out a campaign of military assistance to arm opposition groups. CIA involvement in the arming of anti-Assad forces began with arranging for the shipment of weapons from the stocks of the Gaddafi regime that had been stored in Benghazi.
...
n June 2013, Obama approved the first direct U.S. lethal military aid to rebel brigades that had been vetted by the CIA. By spring 2014, the U.S.-made BGM-71E anti-tank missiles from the 15,000 transferred to the Saudis began to appear in the hands of selected anti-Assad groups. But the CIA imposed the condition that the group receiving them would not cooperate with the al Nusra Front or its allies.

That condition implied that Washington was supplying military groups that were strong enough to maintain their independence from al Nusra Front. But the groups on the CIA’s list of vetted “relatively moderate” armed groups were all highly vulnerable to takeover by the al Qaeda affiliate.

In November 2014, al Nusra Front troops struck the two strongest CIA-supported armed groups, Harakat Hazm and the Syrian Revolutionary Front on successive days and seized their heavy weapons, including both TOW anti-tank missiles and GRAD rockets.

In early March 2015, the Harakat Hazm Aleppo branch dissolved itself, and al Nusra Front promptly showed off photos of the TOW missiles and other equipment they had captured from it. And in March 2016, al Nusra Front troops attacked the headquarters of the 13th Division in northwestern Idlib province and seized all of its TOW missiles. Later that month, al Nusra Front released a video of its troops using the TOW missiles it had captured.

Just as we did in the Libya fuck-up. I would say our reporting at the time proved to be almost 100% correct. I joined TOS in the hopes that there would never be another war based on lies and deceit as Bush did with Afghanistan and Iraq. I thought that most of the members were intelligent, reasoning people who had learned a lesson. If anything, they turned out to worse than the average person on the street. The recent crap about Russia, Russia, Russia, Putin thug, Russia, Russia shows just how ignorant most are.

but the sleepwalking American public didn't have a clue, and the zombie US Congress was being paid to keep its collective mouth shut, and the US media was doing its normal job of keeping the whole scam running smoothly, all according to the long-term plans of PNAC idiots.

Yeah we knew it, a lot of people knew it -- but not enough people. We have not been running this freak show, the freaks have been running it. And Obama gave these deranged and utterly incompetent imperialists a more or less free hand to run it, however the fuck they wanted to run it. His Nobel Peace Prize notwithstanding, Obama's foreign policy was based primarily on murderous ambition and rank hypocrisy. None of which he ever took personal responsibility for.

And we're still at it, no doubt about that. Except now we've got an ignorant blabbermouth in charge of the operations, instead of a smooth-talking liar. Say a prayer for Tulsi Gabbard... maybe her Hindu faith will serve her better than Jesus and Jehovah have served America's warmongers to date.

I referred to US media in the singular, instead of the plural. It's an easy mistake to make, under the current circumstances.

should be charged with treason for aiding and abetting our enemies Al Qaida and its offshoots.
John McCain should be included in being charged. He has been photographed with the leaders of Al Qaida and other terrorists organizations.

Throw in the heads of the CIA and include the generals that helped in this action.
Hopefully there is someway that congress can also be held accountable for not reigning in Obama's abused of office and their ongoing support for these illegal invasions.

NATO needs to go back to its original function, not aiding and abetting war crimes. It's goal was to stop the next Hitler from rising. Instead, it and its member states have become the next Hitler.

Many people state that Obama left office scandal free. I would think that his foreign policies was a huge scandal and I can not understand why people are willing to overlook his illegal invasions that saw hundreds of thousand killed and millions of people displaced.

The same people who are saying that they wish that Obama was still the president, are the same people that were willing to put Hillary "we came, we saw, he died" in the office of the president.
These are the same people who attacked George W. Bush for his foreign policies. Totally mystified.

These are the same people who when Bush was president appreciated what Wifileaks exposed in our government, but when Wikileaks exposed the foreign policies of Obama, they yawned at the exposures and demonized them.

"In 2010, Wikileaks published hundreds of thousands of classified State Department cables, including a 2006 cable showing that destabilizing the Syrian government was a primary goal of U.S. policy in the Middle East.

The same damned thing happened when Wikileaks exposed the corruption of the DNC, Podesta and Hillary's campaign.

If American Hegemony is wrong when it's a republican president is doing that, then it should be doubly wrong when it's the president of your own party doing it. If one can't admit this, then they are the definition of a hypocrite.

''mutiny' by the people and I do believe they've become too lazy and complacent and cowardly to get off their dead asses. As long as they aren't the ones living under the threat of missle or drone attack, they can pretend that all is right in their little world.

And why should they care about the poor? It's their fault they're that way. They should just 'work harder'. /s

I take this opportunity here to insert a quotation of his, one that I used as my "sig line" at Daily Kos:

…the American people wake up and see the horror they have funded. Awake or asleep, they can never be part of the solution to the humanitarian nightmare they inflicted on the earth.

The answer requires the leadership of a strong central government with the vision, wealth, and commitment to execute a long term plan designed to lift these people (victims of the US Neocons/Neoliberals) into a modern, sustainable, and fulfilling life, with enduring stability.

One must look to China for that. They are committed to saving the world and are already acting to get the job done quickly and efficiently. This, in contrast to the United States, which stands on the world stage, stupidly swinging its head from side to side, looking for the next nation to destroy; the next population to kill.

June 20th was Global Refugee Day, the melancholy yearly review of what the West has done. It is what inspired this essay.

In China, by contrast, every day brings a new "Summit for Solutions." Next week, China will again host the World Economic Forum. China's keynote address focuses on Global innovation, where the world comes together in partnership for the sake of humanity. Although this idea is an anathema to the United States, tantamount to high treason, it is something the entire world longs for and desperately needs.

Excerpts from the Keynote Address:

The beginning of the 16th century birthed many important scientists, philosophers, and inventors. From the age of discovery through to the information age, human development and scientific innovation have merged together to form the thriving glory that is modern life.

While mathematics is the universal language of communication, it is innovation and the human spirit which provide the path to sustainable and inclusive human development. Currently, the developmental state of different cultures, nationalities, and regions remains unbalanced. We need both scientific innovation and human spirit to give more people access to modern technology.

In this way, diverse cultures can communicate and develop better relations, resulting in a more stabilized society, increased protection of vulnerable groups, improved environmental conservation, and the potential for more sustainable development in underdeveloped nations and regions.

We strongly believe that our future prosperity will be and must be inclusive, shared by all nationalities and cultures. The common values of humanity teach us to embrace differences, and differences give birth to innovation, which leads us towards a better life. We gather together because technology is making the world smaller and more accessible. The mass application of information technology gives people in less-developed areas access to the internet, connecting them to the outside world, sharing the convenience of the new digital age.

To offer a better education to as many people as possible has always been a major challenge. How can innovation accelerate the impact of education? It’s heartening to see the new trend of massive open online courses (MOOC) succeed in integrating internet thinking into education and providing affordable learning. As long as you want to learn, access is available to the knowledge you need. In just three years, a MOOC platform provided educational services to nearly 160 countries and regions, reaching 7,500,000 subscribers.

We strongly believe that our future prosperity will be and must be inclusive, shared by all nationalities and cultures. The common values of humanity teach us to embrace differences, and differences give birth to continuous innovation.

than anything the USG currently has on offer. How closely it will align with China's actual practices, remains to be seen... but if the vision is there, it is something that must and should be recognized and respected and built upon as a foundational, and globally shared ideal. Bravo China, for stating this clearly and unambiguously.

As for Mr's Trump and McCain and Cheney, along with Ms Clinton and her whole warmongering crew, and the entire "national security" establishment they all stand for...I say to hell with the lot of them. And this is not an unpatriotic thing to say.

@Pluto's Republic
a strong central government.

Power corrupts and a strong central government is the very definition of power.

The hierarchical nature of governments is perpetually an invitation to abuse of power. Look at history.

I have pretty much concluded that the need for power is the root of all evil. This has led me to question what exactly the need for power is and what its origins are. Is it just human nature or is it a genetic marker? Or could it be the psychological/environmental product of a hierarchical society? I prefer to think the latter.
