Friday Night Photos Small World Edition
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Man, where does the time go? I turned another year older yesterday. Seems like I had a birthday just the other day. My friends tell me I look 10 years younger than I am. That's nice, but if given the choice of looking tens years younger or feeling 10 years younger, I'll choose feeling 10 years younger. I bet a lot of others here would make that same choice. They call these the Golden Years. Golden years my ass. Getting old sucks, or as my brother likes to say "This getting old shit is really starting to get old.".
Speaking of getting old, here are some old macro shots of some of the little critters I haven't see in the Balboa Park rose garden in years.
Fig Beetle AKA Fig-eater Beetle
I believe this is a member of the bee family.
Things are not looking so good for this Leaf-toed Bug
On the other hand, things are looking really good for this Six-spotted Orb Weaver

Hi Social
The metallic green fig beetle sure has a nice diet, fig and rose sound like a sweet combination. I hope at least some of those insects are still living somewhere. I would love to send the image of the praying mantis and rose to my little granddaughters. I think they would find it magical. I find it magical, does that mean I’m really not that old ; ).
I looked for more phrases about getting old, and found these. Getting old certainly sucks in many ways, but there are some brighter spots hidden in there.

I thought I would try out some B&W, for old times sake.
Be well all and enjoy the weekend

Hi, janis
Nice B&W's, Janis.
Thanks for the link. I made a slight change to quote #14. Age is simply the number of years the world has been annoying you.

I can't argue
that enjoy and annoy are both descriptive of life, now or ever ; ).
Wow. the little critters
are really something to behold
or not as the cases may be
have rarely heard that tune by
my favorite band
Thanks
Zionism is a social disease
Hi, Q
The little critters would be something to behold if the could be found. They have all been missing in action for the last few years.
QMS is a very under rated band. I don't know why. They made some great music.

Well, Happy Birthday, Sp (!) or as some of the
astrology posse I've known over the years would say, Happy Natal Day!!
I hear ya on this getting old bit. As one of my very BFF (now deceased, unfortunately) always told me, "Getting old ain't for pussies!" Man, for sure! Love the bug shots and the captions. jb's terrarium is looking very good. Her photos never fail to please, either. Not much to report weather-wise...yet. Still peaceful on the hurricane front. However, now we approach the worse part of the storm season known as the peak. UGH!! I agree w/QMS and you regarding Quicksilver Messenger Service. Definitely an underrated band.
Hope everyone is staying safe, cool, and dry. Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
Hi, obf
What's really depressing is I eat healthy, watch my weight, and exercise and I still feel like I'm 20 years older than I am.
Thanks for the QMS.

We've had mantises around here
They eat the stinkbugs, then move on. Hopefully they eat lantern flies too.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Hi, TOM
The mantis pictured here was in the Balboa Park rose garden 3 years ago. It's the only one I've found one in the garden in the dozen years I've been photographing there. I find them in my back yard from time to time but only in October. Don't know why that is.
