Today's Jam: 06/13/2020

Plum Jamming

The white Queen infamously told Alice "The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday – but never jam to-day."
So here's a Jam from yestidday.

On June 10, 1966, Janice Joplin exploded into our consciousness performing with Big Brother and the Holding Company at the Avalon Ballroom. One doesn't normally think of vocalists "jamming", but, when an established vocalist who usually performs with a specific band steps out to "sit in" with a different band for an ad hoc performance, it is arguably a jam. If that other band happens to be one that forced music critics to create a new genre, "the jam band", then it is indubitably a jam. I give you tow legendary theough not necessarily recognizeable performances of Turn On Your Love Light: 06-04-1969 and 07-16-1970. (for those unaware of this bit of history, Janice and Pigpen (Ron McKernan) had a thing going on.

...a pretty effective anti-Trump ad produced by Republicans.

I don't think Trump is going to recover from what is going to be a long hot Corona summer, ahead. The US has overplayed its hand all around the world. And I remind the world: Trump is merely a symptom of a deeply sick US government. We won't stop trying to use you and bend you to the will of our corporations. We will sabotage your economy to keep you weak in the world and subservient to us, no matter who you are. Be especially careful when we elect a President who charms you.

She had a thing with several. GOOD FOR HER.
I am within 2 hours of Port Arthur, should attend one of the annual celebrations.
If R's turn on Trump, that gives the rest of us Biden.
I plan on sleeping in on Election Day with whom should be my husband by then.

to say for it. I shall drag my butt up to the polling place to drop off my mail-in ballot for a third party candidate, probably Green, but not until later in the day.

@enhydra lutris Green.
However, voting absentee is an option that greatly assists the sleeping in plan.

why I blame Obama and his SoS Hillary for the 2015 EU migration crisis and subsequent political turmoil.

These friends don’t follow the news, assuming it to be just as manipulative as it was in former East Germany, being controlled by a snooty, exclusive power elite with its own interests, not theirs, at heart. They only know the warm, professorial “I got this” image of Obama that German establishment media lift from their U.S. mainstream counterparts and faithfully reproduce.

These friends have honestly never picked up on the fact that it was Obama, Hillary, etc. who chose to destroy Libya and destabilize Syria, thereby opening Pandora’s box.

The husband, someone who up to this point had never shown much affinity for “Green” thinking, surprised me with an extended, vehement, amazingly comprehensive rant that, if it was up to him as world dictator, he would put an immediate end to all sorts of environmentally destructive things: single-use plastic containers and packaging, industrial trawler fishing, monoculture style farming, overreliance on pesticides and chemical fertilizer, fig-leaf recycling as sham and scam (“don’t produce things that are a wasteful use of raw materials in the first place”), felling of the Amazon rainforest, etc.

People, he concluded, could very well go back to a less wasteful, less money- and consumption-oriented, humbler way of living and still be happy and healthy. “We didn’t have X, Y, and Z, but got along perfectly well just doing A, B, and C before [in the old East Germany].”

...in Europe and Germany, considering the US military operates out of Germany.

So, don't people who are not paying attention to the news ever wonder why a sizable chunk of Libya's population suddenly showed up in Germany? Or do they explain it away as a "travel trend?"

Speaking of Middle East travel trends, I recently ran across a strangely compelling photo of the entire Osama bin Laden clan sight-seeing in Germany when they were young and gay. So, I suppose Germany has long been a vacation destination for it's Middle Eastern neighbors.

Suddenly, it was the narrative; a là Orwell, it had always been the narrative. It was presented as black and white, good vs. evil, humane or inhumane; the necessary next step on the walk of penance for Hitler and the Holocaust; there was nothing, really, to discuss. Even to suggest that it might be legitimate to ask, Who are these people? Why are they here? Are they who they say they are and is all as they say it is?, or to want to probe the truth of the claims made, was to invite immediate denunciation as a racist, a fascist, a neo-Nazi …

Suddenly all distinctions between political asylum, temporary refuge from war, and economic migration went out the window; suddenly it was simply a matter of compassion for anyone “seeking a better life.” Overnight, German opinion leaders executed a dizzying pivot from stern-faced talk of balanced budgets, austerity, and fiscal discipline to having seemingly unlimited resources to lavish on refugees. The feelgood moral moment of elite self-congratulation for an ongoing act of humanity conveniently obscured the background that NATO as the EU’s informal military arm had wrecked two countries and sown chaos and mayhem across the whole region.

Steely-eyed Angela, right out of a cubist painting, barked out the policy. And that was that.

But I have an earlier memory of Merkel being interviewed about the Turkish immigrants/workers who were populating Germany. I remember her saying something like: "The foreign experiment didn't work well for Germany. The migrants refused to assimilate. They wouldn't learn German and they were raising their children to be nothing but trouble."

Perhaps my recall is off, but I do remember thinking how harsh she was about the foreign presence in Germany. They were workers that Germany had invited; they weren't even picking up the tab beyond infrastructure like schools

So the sudden attitude switch with Libyans stands out. I suppose it is geopolitically driven. It's hard to tell at times where the Nazis left off and and NATO begins, but since NATO participated in the destruction of Libya, Merkel's new narrative gave them cover while they denationalized the oil for their corporate overlords. And who better than an East German to direct such a psyop? The dirty dealing in Libya is part and parcel of what happened in Ukraine and Syria and a century's-worth of the same repeating formula of sabotage. Who can blame Germans for blinding themselves to stay safe? It's Merkel sickening pose toward Russia over Crimea, that constantly stuns me. It's a level of tightly disciplined depravity that I could never pull off. I don't have the right kind of brain damage.

Atlanta news about the latest shooting. Right now the Wendy’s where it happened is on fire with no fire trucks on the scene. It’s burning out of control wit flames shooting up into the sky.

The attorney for Rayshard Brooks’s family said the same thing that occurred to me. That even though Brooks shot the taser he took from one of the officers, a taser is not a lethal weapon. Therefore the officer could not have feared for his life. Yet he was shot three times in the back as he fled.

The incident began when people complained that Brooks was asleep in his car in the Wendy’s drive through. The police woke him and gave him a sobriety test, which he failed. He tried to flee, seizing the taser and fired it in the direction of police. They fired back with lethal gunfire, hitting him three times. Drunk and disorderly ended in a death sentence. Atlanta Police Chief Erica Shields has stepped down.

Someone has set the Wendy’s on fire tonight. It’s a stunning conflagration. Still no firefighters on the scene.

People went out on I-75 and shut it down for awhile tonight in protest. People are calling “Stop killing us!”

I posted a tweet on this and linked an article about it. I asked if the person who called the cops on him would have called them if the person was white and was in a luxury car? Why in hell did they feel the need to even call them instead of knocking on his window? Especially in this environment where cops are doing evil shit?

2 black men have been found hanging from trees and in one case they have already ruled it a suicide. Before an auto was even done. They were within 50 miles from each other.

Karma will haunt those figures in this country. Badly.
So damn stupid to not know that people who work in the US pay taxes like every body else. This figure would be the first to hire slave workers illegally. What an asshole.

Wow I would social distancing from figures like that for 1.5 miles, not 1.5 meters or yards, or better thousands of miles.
