So Good in So Many Ways
I've had this fantasy for a couple of years now, and it's not a serious fantasy but it is also not completely unserious.
When Occupy Wall Street first came about, I thought about how I'd like to interact with those kids (I'm 61).
Around that time I found a YouTube of The Heart Sutra that just captured me. I found saying the sutra in Sanskrit was an interesting experience, this is one of the oldest languages on earth and you can feel that when you speak it.
Here's the video I memorized the sutra from - I'm not completely happy with the melody but it is a helpful one to learn to memorize the sutra.
And then I visited my Twitter timeline which has been very depressing lately with all the fear mongering and various other kinds of mongering going on.
And then I heard this:
this is magic, I love that she's having a praise break while the insurance man waits. pic.twitter.com/hXCqjAPPJ5

And it was the exact feeling I got when learning the Heart Sutra, and with such a richness to it, a richness of feeling.
Oh -- my fantasy was to go to a city park, bring some kind of boom box where I could play the YouTube, print out a bunch of Heart Sutras both in Sanskrit and in English, and invite people to learn just how to sing it -- and then see what happened. Of course, the fantasy height of the fantasy was to get a bunch of people to sing the sutra and conduct them like an orchestra -- "The basses sing now, everyone else lay back," and then "now the sopranos," etc.
Well I said it was a fantasy.
Anyway, I haven't given in to fear this week even as all the Gods and Goddesses of Fear have been swooping about, having been evoked by a bunch of hysterical establishment politicians and their supporters.
A good Weekend to all!
