Site downtime--UPDATED

I'll be working on the site today so there may be periods of short downtime. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Update: The comment reply issue is fixed.

index.jpg

But, a week or so ago when the site was having major connection and slow down issues it was determined to be a problem with the Thumbs Up feature. The result of the correction was a loss of some voting data which wiped the Votes column on everyone's My Comments page from that point back. I'm sorry for that but it had to be done to bring the site back to normal.

Thanks for your patience.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

@Not Henry Kissinger
of the thumbs up technique back in the late 60s and early 70s when I hitched all over the country. That technique isn't much help with website administration though,

@JtC
thumbs that they advertised in Mad or Cracked Magazine. I could never get one because the ad stated that you had to mail in the proof of purchase for the magazine plus a life size model of Boulder Dam made entirely from chicken fat. But I lost my receipt for the magazine so I was out of luck.

          I used to run a set of rogue servers at a university. The official head tech and I were good friends. The whole thing was fun until it wasn't. He moved on to greener pastures and I shut down my clandestine services. But we had taught the "norms" a thing or two. “Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship (has been a beautiful collaboration)."

RIP

@PriceRip
the time to really worry about it is when things are running like a top. There is most assuredly trouble over the next hill.

The site is much faster than about a month a go. I was blaming my other half for her streaming news bs.
Thanks for all you do for this site I am a permanent lurker.

Noticed the same here. Quite speedy now in the aftermath of Thumbageddon.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

you are now freed up to do something fun for your New Year's Eve.
Thanks for all you do.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

@The Voice In the Wilderness to me, is similar to getting teeth pulled by pliers.
When I think of the briar patch, it is the acre, more or less, of berries that grows on my property.
All you techies are amazing, I love you all for it, and I will be content to knuckle drag for a while longer, then go out of this world.

Reminds me f the MASH episode where Radar gives Col. Potter the rescued horse. Potter walks around the back of the horse and slips. Burns says, "That's disgusting!" and Potter says, "Son, that's a tiptoe through the tulips to me!"

who can fix a thumb issue, even while having a thumb with a band-aid himself, a happy New Year. I just checked, the Replies in the My Comments page are having the correct date now too. So, this will be my last reply here and it will show up in the comment reply column right NOW with this time and this date...
