Shaun King's Excellent Response To His Own Editorial Board
Hammer met nail perfectly, he tore them a new one.
I like the start, it made me smirk
3. I have been given the freedom, from the day I joined this staff, to write whatever the hell I wanna write without censorship.
I really recommend reading the whole article

Near the end the real truth
Sanders is the longest-serving independent in the history of Congress. He energizes new voters who have a deep distrust of the system. They will not support establishment candidates, but will help propel him to victory in the general election.
It is the main reason why many are on this new blog.
We see how popular congress is; what is it about the party faithful that blinds them to the fact that the Democratic Party is partly/equally to blame for this unpopularity, it aint just the GOP ya know. When cockroaches are more popular than you are, then mission control we have a catastrophe.
I want more independents on both sides of the aisle because they will have to listen to their voters rather than be protected by the Party security blanket.
I want corporate lobbyists totally confused as to who will be in power next, although I would prefer they were driven out completely.
I want Citizens United overturned and not used as a source of new revenue as the Hillary has done. Giving private speeches to special interest groups should disqualify you automatically from holding public office. Openness not secrecy is the goal, publish your damn speeches without the need to be asked repeatedly.
I have read too much bluedog/neocon rhetoric over the last few months coming from people who claim to be progressives.
If you vote Hillary you aint no progressive, no how, no way.

Just read it and Shaun King nails it!
The heart of the matter is in these few paragraphs. My bolding has been added.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
It was a very good reply
I suggest mentioning MCCUTCHEON along w/ Citizens United
It created the impetus for DNC to consort with Hillary Victory Fund and the state Dem parties which pre-selected Hillary last summer as their candidate and has the magnified the ability for corruption to blossom:

I trust all here have read the Counterpunch article which describes this: http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/04/01/how-hillary-clinton-bought-the-lo...
Sorry to thread-jump off-topic, I just think we ought to get this idea spread in order to make a difference and wanted to make sure readers here see this - we've all been ignorant of how the party has used/misused this decision until just now.
'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member
Thanks for that Counterpunch link, Ms Grin.
It's a very good case study. Political influenced was monetized in the US long ago. Influence is also packaged and resold. It's the one manufactured good that the Beltway produces. But this article really brought the Citizen's United version to life.
IMAGINE if you woke up the day after a US Presidential Election and headlines around the the world blared, "The Majority of Americans Refused to Vote in US Presidential Election! What Does this Mean?"
oh, this highlighted quote causes associations
with one of the most detested member of the Bush cabinet... Really amazing they used it. Amazing how the Clinton story reveals itself. For the record: I wish to live in another world and I am old. I hope HRC gets this. She is not representing any person, who can think, no way.
Shaun King's article is a gift. Thanks to him.

King's writing has really matured
and that is not a backhanded compliment at all. I have always considered him essential reading since the early days of BLM.
Bonus points to SK for this:
Miffed is a wonderful word.
Agree completely that Clinton and progressive, (or for that matter anything to the left of neolib/neocon) are mutually exclusive.

Diary on DK on Shaun King's article
really enjoy DK with most of the REC list about the Bernie movement
the Hillary bots must be shitting in their pants about all the stuff that keeps on happening
I made some comments on OPOL's recent diary (One Pissed Off Liberal) and it looks like the diary is is some sort of limbo state. Not sure about it. It seems that no recent comments have been added and my comments were not recommended. I sent OPOL a kosmail about it. Or, maybe I am just paranoid, ... but as the NY primary comes along the oligarchs are getting worried
I went to my profile ( click on View/Edit My Profile, and and then on the line Comments are the options Replies Hidden) anc click Hidden
here is a great one
another hidden pointed out that Obama was a war monger and has attacked the constitution
another is a new person who looks like a paid Hillary operative. They do zap some of these trolls
by the way, Bernie's appearance on The Daily Show last night was great. Hillary does not have an answer for this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89fMgRMH2zM
Thanks for the link I'll watch it now
I was being paranoid - now there are RECS to my comment
Sent email to OPOL and he RECed my comments
Usually there is so much activity that after I posted 4 comments at the end thought that there would be lots of action. Some of my most RECS come from comments on his diaries.
One of my comments was from article by Ray McGovern on how the intelligence community blocked Bush/Cheney's hoped for invasion of Iran. I did some checking and found that Hillary was for going to war with Iran because of nukes. That may have been the time when the Zionists were trying to block the agreement with Iran and Hillary was aligning self with Zionists.

Wow, OPOLs photo essay over at TOP is breathtaking
the guy fights a good fight. Kudos to him. Beautifully done. I twittered it. Can't help otherwise. But it's very inspiring to me and gives me hope.

Most folks have forgotten
the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment. But I've used that as one of my big reasons for my concerns about Clinton and her foreign policy -- she voted for it in 2007 (as did one of my Senators, DiFi though thank goodness Boxer opposed it).
Here's the full list of Senators that voted against it:
Biden (D-DE)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Brown (D-OH)
Byrd (D-WV)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Dodd (D-CT)
Feingold (D-WI)
Hagel (R-NE)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Leahy (D-VT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Lugar (R-IN)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Sanders (I-VT)
Tester (D-MT)
Webb (D-VA)
Wyden (D-OR)
(bolding mine)
Note: McCain and Obama did not vote; sounds like neither of them were there at the time.
Hey Don. Thanks for still fighting the good fight at TOP.
teacherken is fucking insufferable, a bore and has become kind of pathetic (couldn't find the comment you qouted).
I do get a kick out of blasting those Neoliberal cheerleader douchebags every chance I get. But moreover I think it's important that a few stalwarts stick around to try to even the score. Which is such a joke in and of itself, really, because had the place truly been a liberal progressive site to elect more and better Dems, instead of Corporate Lackey Dems Inc™, it would reflect an overwhelming majority positive, enthusiastic and committed support Bernie has there, which is a reflection of the populace (despite HRC cheerleaders reflexive response that she has more voters, which selectively doesn't count the caucuses).
So sick of these assholes. Makes me wanna fire up another diary like my last, which I actually published here first and intend to do more than not.

Really gratified it blew a hole through that stagnant fog over there, at least for a while.

I would add two more descriptions
passive/aggressive and self centered. I find it very interesting that someone who clamors for attention never can find the time to recommend anyone else's writing or comments. There were times when I regularly read his diaries and then I realized that he never bothered to engage with others at the site, not even in his own diaries.

That was an AMAZING diary!
I was told about it (offline) and I went in and T&R it "over there" - It'll be my last time there. I strayed and looked around and it's just completely ... sad. I'd been there for over ten years.
Already, we've focused our energy to Bernie here. Son and myself went to a barnstorm in Oregon and signed up to help register peeps because here we have closed primaries.

Great article though
having HRC's picture pasted all over it is very annoying.
Politico has a particularly asinine article up from which you can find this quote:
Why is the article asinine? It mentions all the current candidates EXCEPT Sanders in an article about a "white knight" who would would do something different.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.--Aristotle
If there is no struggle there is no progress.--Frederick Douglass
Politico apparently let's HRC's people write their press coverag

This is how
the Clintons control the message. It is more than a press release, it is a business transaction. More and more they remind me of organized crime. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know how to do links
I don't know how to do links properly, but I just got around today to reading Bob Herbert's 2001 column, Cut Him Loose
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/26/opinion/in-america-cut-him-loose.html
In which Herbert wrote:
I think the Clintons have hijacked my Democratic party, and it literally makes me sick, viscerally and physically sick. I was just reading today about Bill's secret committee to privatize social security. I guess I was so busy fending off the ridiculous Repug attacks on Clinton, I was distracted from how those attacks were diverting attention away from all the damage he was really doing to the country, and the Clintons almost used that distraction to give away social security!
http://www.counterpunch.org/2004/10/30/how-monica-lewinsky-saved-social-...
My hair is on fire!
Thanks for the links.
I had seen the second one from somewhere else some time back, but had not see the first.
Meanwhile, the article used a 2009 quote of Clinton's (adversaries "should never see America's willingness to talk as a sign of weakness to be exploited.") It seems to me that she blasted Sanders for being weak because he proposed to talk to adversaries. Now I have to go find the reference. = )

As regards:
"I have read too much bluedog/neocon rhetoric over the last few months coming from people who claim to be progressives." So isn't it amusing that so many of them want to claim to be progressives!
“When there's no fight over programme, the election becomes a casting exercise. Trump's win is the unstoppable consequence of this situation.” - Jean-Luc Melanchon
It's not the word they are following, just the popularity of it
Substitute 'progressive' for 'da bomb' and they wanted to be that back in the day, too...
'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member
I finally unfollowed on Twitter
someone who was slamming Sanders and his supporters, but who claimed to be "progressive" in his Twitter profile. The disconnect got to be too much. I hope Clinton wins just to see the disconnect when she acts according to nature and screws the middle class or takes us into a war in the Middle East.
Obama dropping bombs all over the
Middle East certainly hasn't upset many people on TOP. In fact a few posters respond to my comments about the increase us of drones " it is better then sending in ground troops"
Once upon a time, that site used to be against the useless tax draining wars in the Middle East, but once Obama was elected, it went silent.
To me that is the description of hubris.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
Markos' March 1 declaration --
revealed in full the uselessness of that place. Humanism is just a talking point for those people.

It pisses me off to hear centrists claim to be progressives
Every time i see one do that on the gos I want to post the song love me I'm a liberal. But I did that once and got gang flagged.
Btw WTF are all those brand new posters on the gos? Seems they are everywhere and when I look at their bios it always says they joined within the last few weeks yet they don't comment like they are brand new members.
Is that place becoming a zombie blog with nothing but fake SNs ? If so it's no wonder so many of the long time members and great writers of substance have taken vacations from that place.

Probably why they never did anything
about the rash of spammers signing up for accounts -- it artificially inflates the participation numbers and left the door open for events such as this. Love Paul Hogarth (his Twitter account when he goes to SF Giants games is a hoot, though his nicknames for the players aren't necessarily family-friendly) but I suspect that his quest to find new writers was specifically to find new Clinton-friendly writers as per Kos directive.
It's always been a CIA operation
And what you've just recently noticed has actually been going on since day one. In my first incarnation there as Pen, I used to investigate and point it out. That got me in a bunch of hot water that eventually led to my first banning.
When I returned years later, I dove straight back into pointing out things like people who post all day long and their posting habits. How they have to have been getting paid to do this for a living, etc. Again, I soon got banned, this time over my coining of the term "Flag Nazi's" which the CIA operatives were extremely upset about since it totally exposed their actions and would be a term that would have stuck.
great post by Shaun
Im actually not a huge fan of Shaun, he can be kinda hit and miss sometimes, but this one was outta the park good.
Neither am I he often seems to get in a rut, well at least on
gos he did. That was more mature writing on his part and I do think he will end up a very good writer
Might be an indication
that he needed a better editor at DK and has one at NYDN. A good editor can make a competent writer a great one.
I can't remember, is it Shaun or Deray who got blocked
From DOV twitter feed? A public pronouncement to that effect was posted last week... I guess it was because both of the. Have endorsed Bernie. Now it seems you are Blocked if you dare support Bernie while being a PoC over there.
Also, how long before we get banned there for what we post here? Lately I have begun. Seeing posts that list our anti HRC comments here with OUTRAGE toward those who dare speak ill anywhere.
Should I be making a new screen name here,so I am not banned there for what I say here (or anywhere). ?????? I am serious ...
Also is anyone else being twitter trolled by Phoenix woman? I have blocked her twice but she keeps evading the block.
GOS is beginning to feel like AOL felt at the end of its, life as the go to social media site.
Orwell was an optimist
Oh, please
I wanna see them ban people there for what they say here. They can't be that stupid. If they are, they'll have to crank out the sockpuppets four-fold from what they're cranking out now.
And there is no reason for you to change your name here. No. Just NO.
But yeah, AOL was cool once, too, right?
