If I can’t go to Planned Parenthood for a routine pap smear without being screamed at and harassed by Christian protestors then Stephen Miller shouldn’t be able to eat his fucking salad without being called an asshole.

@enhydra lutris but I think since OWS and Ferguson they've been preparing police response strategies to stuff we already tried. A guess might be charging anyone arrested as an accessory to any felony committed during the demonstrations, even sit ins. Kind of like the getaway driver gets charged with murder, even though he was ignorant of the killing. Trumps feint at that for those arrested during his inauguration failed but he's got 2 years to make sure those liberal judges "understand" the law. And the prisoner industrial complex is a growing industry, but it needs raw material.

I'm worried because the answer to "What's Trump going to do about it?" is increasingly "anything he damn well pleases."

Now that Donnie The Douchebag will turn SCOTUS into a Corpro-Conservative body, that means all branches of the govt will be Hard Line Right. Goodbye Pro-choice. No more abortions for any reason at any number of weeks. Goodbye Saftey Net, "Survival Of The Richest" is the new "Kinder, Gentler Nation".

With all these new unwanted babies (probably mostly because the future parents can't afford to feed them) , the Conservatives will have to starve them to death (oh SNAP, no more food stamps).

Move your bank account(s) to credit unions or small, local banks, stay out of Walmart, don't use Amazon, patronize locally as much as you can, cut back where you can. Just act as if the Depression is already here (which it is for many of us). In other words, stop being an American consumer.

Some of those snows are proof of climate damage, too! Just as Denver isn't supposed to reach 105, it's also not supposed to hit 30 below, either.

And I've watched it do both since I've been an adult.....

When will this stop? When's the last straw? If I gave a bank 100 dollars, and they lost it, I'd have avenues with which to pursue some sort of justice. If I give a company my data, and they lose it, oh well. I wish all personal data was treated like HIPAA, at a minimum.

When the top folks in the US government are personally affected. Until then, "congressional hearings" and presidential ambivalence is the most action we'll get out of them. Most people don't really understand what the significance of these events are.

@eyo Frankly, it won’t. The genie is out of the bottle and it’s not going back in. And it’s not the senior level government people we have to wait on, it’s the 1%. It’s still cheaper for them to deal with breaches when they happen rather than push for steps to adequately protect data. And, living in a world of “too big to fail”, we’ll never see appropriate (or any) punishments for the guilty.

It’s cute dude thought writing Rand Paul would do something tho.

'Fair share' union fees struck down, delivering blow to California labor

Washington

California’s public employee unions were handed a serious blow in a Supreme Court ruling Wednesday that forbids them from collecting fees from workers who benefit from their representation but do not want to join them.

In a 5 to 4 ruling, the court determined that public sector unions' so-called "fair share" fees violate "the free speech rights of nonmembers by compelling them to subsidize private speech on matters of substantial public concern."

The decision in Janus vs. AFSCME effectively makes California a “right to work” state, ending a 41-year precedent that allowed public sector unions to levy these fees on workers who don’t belong to labor organizations.

Sonoma County Coroner’s Office identifies worker who died in Petaluma soap factory accident

A man killed last week while working on a mixing machine at a Petaluma soap company was identified by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.

Kyle Drake, 38, of Petaluma, died June 11 after getting pulled into the machine at Rogue Research where he worked, authorities said. The Copeland Street business makes soap and dietary supplements.

Drake had been mixing powders for supplements when he became caught in a mechanical part. Petaluma police and Cal-OSHA are investigating the death.

@enhydra lutris Plan is to be in Sequoia 7/16, Kings Canyon 7/17, Yosemite 7/18 and maybe dive back in 7/19. Charted out 7/7 NC departure, out to Sue's brother's place in LA by 7/13. Shaping up to be massive bucket list check off trip. Also too, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Canyon Lands, Bryce, Arches, Capital Reef, Great Sand Dunes and RMNP. Probably skipping Zion (shuttle bus; motorcycle unattended), Joshua Tree (makes day from GC to LA too long) and Death Valley (heat).

Great workout yesterday, making friends and dealing with my demons.

Still working on relaxing and learning to move with throws. I tend towards stiffness, as anybody who is used to using their strength tends to when starting a martial art. It's getting easier to stick those landings without mat burn, and I'm down another Five Pounds as far as my weight goes. (262... Down from 280 two months ago.)

The progress isn't fast, but it's absolutely measurable. I'm still a white belt, and I'm totally OK with that. Judo is slow, steady advancement, and constant drill and practice. There's no secret technique that will render me unbeatable. Just long, hard work to improve myself.

But otherwise, feeling great, going to try to get back to my writing soon, since I have accepted that forcing myself to write when I'm not feeling it results in far lower quality.

Good time to organize a poors and homeless sing-a-long, eh? I mean, ShinyRibs in the Plaza right in front of the cop shop, it's kinda perfect. I'm gonna transcribe the words for printing at least. omg it would be so cathartic to scream at the pigs "YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ME! while dancing my ass off singing it. lol

LOVE
Not love: The permanent porta-potties at the cop shop are padlocked shut when it's not the Chamber of Commerce sponsored Friday Night Live, of course.

Our philosophy [at the police department] is, homelessness is not a crime. We have empathy for the situations that these people are in, but we are faced with quality-of-life crimes that are associated with homelessness in general. Those are the ones that impact the greater community, including public intoxication, theft, public urination and defecation, sleeping by doorways and near businesses,” he said. “The other aspect of the homeless epidemic is mental illness.”

Yeah, they are driving me effing crazy. Why not unlock the public/private toilets, you cheap bastards? fuck
