Nobody Expects A Free Lunch Except the 0.1%

The meme goes

But the poor darlings just want free everything.

No we bloody don't, even here in socialist commie France.

When we earn enough we pay taxes, we pay towards the health care of all and we pay towards our retirement.

The idea of taxes is to pay for everyone to have at least the minimum chance to compete in life on an equal basis.

Whereas the 0.1% seem to want avoid contributing towards the society that gave them the opportunities to accumulate wealth in the first place. Their only idea is to accumulate as much wealth as fast and as long as is possible.

We cant afford it they cry as the order their accountants to find loopholes and ways to get it in a bank somewhere off shore.

Yet they blitz over a trillion dollars a year to fight our illegal and senseless wars. They cause millions to suffer around the world to feed their wealth habit.

They ignore climate change rather than mitigate the trillions it will cost [let alone the lives] in the end when the panic sets in.

They let our infrastructure crumble rather than invest and rob of us the boom in the economy that would follow.

No, they accumulate and avoid, then tell the rest of us we are too poor to afford the basic needs of a modern society.

Free stuff my ass, we work hard for it and many of us are willing to pay more to those that cannot earn as much to have the same chances.

Yet when they fuck up and wipe trillions out of the world economy due to sheer greed, who pays for their fuck-ups? We do. Then they are free to accumulate even more than before.

We Want Free Stuff?

You're fucking joking.

Utter dross coming from those with golden spoons wedged up their asses.

are not worth taking seriously. It's the political economy we live in, not an economic system where free market forces determine such things are prices, wage rates, % profit, capital investments, etc. What passes as supply side theorizing is an exercise in apologetics for a corrupt system.

As you point out, the 0.1% have the political power to bend the system to their exclusive advantage and they do so. It costs them some money to grease the skids but this outlay garners a higher return than building a factory or publishing a book. Corrupting the system is usually very profitable.

"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"

Here's an interesting article I read this week that I think relates.

Rich Democrats Don’t Care About Income Inequality Any More Than Rich Republicans

The Democratic party might be know for promoting income equality, but according to a new study, its rich elites don’t care about it any more than Republicans.

Professors from U.C. Berkeley, Boston University, Yale Law School, and University of Maryland-College Park recently set up an experiment to test how groups with varying levels of “elite” status in society would distribute wealth. There were three different groups involved in the study—one representing average Americans (roughly 50/50 Republicans and Democrats), a group of “intermediate elite” University of California-Berkeley undergrads, and a group of Yale Law students, assumed to be in particularly high positions of wealth and influence in the future.

The results of the study were summed up by two of its authors in a Slate post, when they wrote:

Regardless of party, the elite donors whose money dominates politics, and the elite officeholders whose decisions set policy, don’t value economic equality.

Now, the use of students and the vague groupings give me some pause about the findings of the study, but I'm not a scientist or researcher so will leave that for other's to pick apart or confirm. It rings true for me, however. Politics being the team sport it is these days, most Democrats will ignore anything that isn't "rah, rah" for the team. Before leaving TOP, I had gotten so tired of hearing that "our" rich people were better than theirs.

because it is ours. They don't pay taxes, we do. They horde, hide, and suckle off the system to such a degree that their net contribution is zero. If Hillary and Trump are going to win, they are going to do it without my help.

I'd be happy if the sociopath politicians would just protect us from Price Gouging On Luxuries. You know, luxuries like healthcare and drugs, energy, housing, bank loans...

And oh yeah, I almost forgot. Fuck you Hellery.

or eat the rich. Either way it'll be messy.

I've worked in retail for way too long. As soon as you smell money on the person in line to pay - you can bet that the encounter will be a stereotypical shit fest of entitlement, rudeness or just downright mean.
