Muhammad Ali has died

Let's see how long it is until someone at TOP tries to blame it on Bernie Sanders.

Yes, heavy snark, but it's almost getting that bad over there.

"Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74."

he was wheelchair bound with Parkinsons. Being wheelchair bound is not good for the lungs if the person also doesn't find ways to be physically active. There is always pressure on the chest when you are sitting, so things don't get cleaned out.

He was a man of the people. I will always admire him for his stand against the Vietnam war.

The world is diminished by his passing.

Peace out, tmp.

Exactly what I said when I heard.

The respiratory complications would probably be due to the Parkinson's Syndrome.

visiting instructor, and I was testing for Green Belt, from Yellow Belt. My point being, we both have a great deal of respect for boxing, and martial arts.

A very sad day, indeed.

Ali was the greatest.

RIP, Champ . . .

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

A man to be admired! Taking a stand against the war knowing it would probably ruin his career.
I shouldn't be crying,I didn't know him,but I will always remember my dad waking me up in the middle of the night to watch the fights.Silly me had such a crush on him Smile

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

When I was growing up in Louisville, Golden Gloves boxing was on the TV during dinner. He was a Newburg boy, the black enclave next over from my middle class white neighborhood. Cassius Clay he was then.

He maintained his Louisville ties. Bought a big house in the eastern rich area several years ago. And had a city street (maybe Walnut) named for him: Muhammad Ali Boulevard. A Son of the city.

What a clear and courageous heart and mind he had.

I read this JnH tribute last night over there. It's another beautiful reflection of the man.

David Frost: What would you like people to think about you when you've gone?

Muhammad Ali: I'd like for them to say:

He took a few cups of love. He took one tablespoon of patience, One teaspoon of generosity, One pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, One pinch of concern. And then, he mixed willingness with happiness. He added lots of faith, And he stirred it up well. Then he spread it over a span of a lifetime, And he served it to it to each and every deserving person he met.

Just had to sit down and watch Ali-Frazier 1. The fight of the century. What a fight it was.

It's been a last shitty two years. All my idols, as I imagined them.

Robin Williams. David Bowie. And now Ali.

What the hell can I say? Nothing.

Just nothing.

Someone else said, "your eyes."

Ali ruined the sport of boxing for me...
I grew up watching Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali box...
When he retired from boxing my interest in the sport slowly waned...

The Tyson Thug finished me off...
I've watched maybe 1 or 2 fights since then...

When you have seen the best there ever was, what is the point of seeing anything else?

He stood up against so many injustices in a nation that is in a KO mentality.

Saw him on an awards show many years ago, and he could barely shuffle. Parkinsons and a lifetime of battery...

Ali was a great spirit. I know nothing, and don't really want to know anything about the "sport" of boxing... but Ali was and always will be an amazing fighter.

Hey, ya think NPR will do a rebuttal of his obit?? Just like they did with Zinn. Pretend news, pretend elections, and all our greats are gone.

I remember watching him as Cassius Clay in the early 60's. I remember him when he beat Sonny Liston, became Muhammad Ali, refused to go kill the yellow man and when he got out of prison and resumed where he left off. No one will ever be like that man, he was a point in time that can never be duplicated. He affected this white boy from white Washington State. I've thought about this day before, that some day Ali would be gone. He's gone now. I guess all I can say is rest in peace Muhammad Ali, and thanks.

Aaahhh yes...let me count the ways it is Bernie's fault.
He was firm, and consistent in his convictions
He was anti- war
He was anti establishment
Bernie had a bird, Ali had butterflies and bees
He was unfairly stripped of his title by the elite insiders......
........of course it is Bernie's fault. Who else is so dangerous to our country?? Islam, Socialism= terrorists, right??
Almost forgot the real reason... rope a dope
