What can we do? I don't know. I know what I want to do.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES,

-since this national representative government does not provide any representation to the lower, working and middle classes;

-since Congress, Senate, and the President of the United States and the Democratic and Republican political parties exist solely to represent the One Percent in this country;

-since the current political system is not democracy and is designed to keep the power with the current ruling class;

RESOLVE TO REPRESENT OURSELVES BEGINNING WITH THE NEXT NEW CONGRESS ON JANUARY 31, 2019.

Just so people who might read this don't get the wrong idea. The weird thing is Obama maintains an 80% approval rating from democrats and the leftier version, like the Democratic Socialists of America, want to stay in the democratic party. I mean either you accept U.S. imperialism or you don't. You can't coexist in the same fucking political party when it comes to that.

(That's the last thing I said on Daily Kos with a poll asking who supported U.S. imperialism and who didn't.)

"Barack Obama was not the lesser evil president. He was always the more effective evil. The ruling classes were in desperate need of a new and attractive face to complete their ugly agenda. George W. Bush and the Republicans were reviled and thus no longer capable of bringing imperialist plots to fruition. They were bad for the brand and were shown the door for use at a later date.

Obama certainly didn’t disappoint his patrons. He claimed that America was exceptional and indispensable and that no other nation had rights that it need respect. He succeeded in making some neocon dreams come true as he tried to bring the Project for a New American Century to reality. He destroyed Libya, supported a coup against an elected government in Ukraine and attempted regime change in Syria too.

Blood was shed and lives were upended all over the world under the Obama doctrine of American rights to global hegemony. But the corporate media and most Democrats said nothing. Now that Trump is in office the evil doing that Obama began is suddenly brought to light.

https://blackagendareport.com/freedom-rider-obamas-crimes-are-revealed-u...

So there was Obama, after Bush, and now the chump in the White House. Ever get a helpless feeling, that you have absolutely no say in anything regarding this country? Well, that's because you don't.

So should we be talking about who should be the next president? After the last how many fucking years? Do you really want to do that AGAIN?

"Trump, without comment, retweeted three postings from a fringe right-wing group that calls itself Britain First. The tweets, each containing a video purporting to show Muslims engaged in violent acts, are of dubious origin. But in Trump’s through-the-looking-glass world, where he calls real news fake, facts are immaterial. It’s all just a show. So he retweeted the videos. Their titles:

“Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches!”

“Muslim destroys a statue of Virgin Mary!”

“Islamist mob pushes teenage boy off roof and beats him to death!”

There is no reason whatsoever to believe that the videos represent what their sensational titles claim.

And yet Trump retweeted them. Yes, the president of the United States did this. And though his move was outrageous, by anyone’s definition, it was, or should have been, the next easily anticipated step in Trump’s very public downward spiral. There are only two real choices here: Either Trump is losing his way, or he is pretending to. Each is exceedingly troubling in its own right.

If the president of the United States, the most powerful man on the planet, cannot be counted on to act rationally – no matter what – we are all in real trouble."

https://www.globalresearch.ca/trumps-unmoored-behavior-must-not-be-ignor...

Nah, we were already in real trouble. Now we're just in more real trouble, we're like in ultra trouble. We're up shit creek without a paddle trouble.

People can boycott corporations, boycott Israel, boycott their local grocery store, but they can't boycott our own government that enacts tax "reform" to further exacerbate wealth inequality and set the stage for more poverty, less middle class, and reductions in social security, medicare and Medicaid services? A government that has totally forgotten about MEDICARE FOR ALL IMPROVED and is now abolishing a system that at least provided 13 million more people with health insurance and also setting the stage for catastrophic impacts to the SERFS? A government that is waging war across the fucking planet and wants to use NUCLEAR WEAPONS, BRAGS ABOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND IS BEGGING VIA THE INSANE TRUMP CLOWN TO START A NUCLEAR WAR? Over WHAT?

That's a lot worse than my local Papa John's pizza store, man.

My contrarian position is that the DSA is simple choosing their battles. At times, it is best to run a DSA'er as a Democrat. At local grass route levels (mayor, city council, etc.) they are running as socialists. Who really cares? Getting good people (socialists, IMO) in office matters.
And, I get your objections I think. But what would you do instead?

@peachcreek I'm at the point that the ends justify the means. Once they are in there they can be the equivalent of the Tbaggers to the dems. The problem with that is if the dems need votes they can always bipartisan their way to "victory" by appeasing republicans. They've had enough practice.

@peachcreek The democratic party, to me, is the opposition in the class war. It supports U.S. imperialism, Wall street capitalism, and the ruling class oligarchy. That is the party's official stance, it even says so in it's charter.

I can see where this is heading now.

What would I do instead?

No one caught it? That's funny.

techcrunch: Meet the tech company that wants to make you even more addicted to your phone

Piling on from the ATM state of California: http://beta.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-road-map-third-parties-california-20171203-story.html

The major parties just aren't cutting it for California voters
[... cut to the end]
In general, the trend for third party registration has been downward. Even as 10 other groups have asked California officials to be officially recognized as a political party, the hurdles under state election law — based on how many voters are willing to enlist — are high, both for getting that status and for keeping it.

Then there's the other part of the story about the barrier for third parties in California, one the new poll suggests voters don't know anything about. The PPIC survey found strong support for the state's top-two primary, the 7-year-old system in which only two candidates win a spot on the general election ballot. The old system gave each qualified party a spot on that ballot. In November 2002, the Green Party's Peter Camejo won 5% of the statewide vote in the race for governor — a high-water mark in third-party politics.

Under the top-two primary, though, minor parties are pretty much guaranteed a spot on the sidelines on the election day that settles the race. The new poll, it seems, reflects the ultimate in electoral stalemates: Voters don't like their choices, but also don't like the system that used to offer lots of them. Assuming that Californians don't want to revisit the rules regarding primaries, they'll have to find a way to change the major political parties themselves — a tough task when confidence is already so low.

Ya, I guess that's the fall back position for many.

@Big Al We have a primary next June, all of my instincts are kicking in but I have joined the resistance. I will be sidewalk blogging again next year if not overwhelmed by disaster. Nobody 2018.

decrying the imperialist foundations of U.S. foreign policy in 2012 prime-time primary debates, what does that tell us?

When even a paleoconservative dinosaur like Pat Buchanan has no trouble seeing and slamming imperialism, but the Democrats we’re supposed to turn to for salvation won’t even use the word imperialism or acknowledge the concept, what does that tell us?

@lotlizard Why do I say that? Because besides war, when it came to any and all other issues, he was in lock-step with the establishment Repigs.

@lotlizard It absolutely makes no bones about it. That's why I said above, people either accept that or they don't.
At this point, it's like collaborating with a murderer.
