A Master Class In LW Media: Jimmy Dore Destroys "Corporate Cocksucker" Chris Hayes From Every Angle For Cheap Shot at Susan Sarandon

In my view what Jimmy Dore has been doing consistently for months is one of the most important developments in media, in this era in which trust in the media, government and politicians are at all-time lows.

The platform of the show, to critically and humorously analyze news segments from an unabashed, aggressive, progressive, Left-Wing viewpoint, has the potential to really explode and catch like wildfire. Take your pick: we've all been either so lulled to sleep or led like lemmings off the cliff of Fear for so long, that somebody with an exceptionally sharp wit and sound fundamental argument training his focus on how bad all those aforementioned institutions truly are, is one of the most winning combinations imaginable right now. The parade of Neoliberal pretenders vacuously masquerading as progressive on late night tv collectively aren't fit to carry his water, in terms of using their platform to call out injustice, lies and deceit.

The brilliance of the show's style hits on many levels. And it needs to be said: comedians tend to be, in my opinion, some of the sharpest thinkers and most sagacious artists in society; many think faster (and are way funnier) than lawyers, and have a remarkable ability to boil down a complex idea in the blink of an eye into a razor sharp and memorable quip.

First, he'll provide excellent context and background so the viewer can understand what's going on in the head of both the interviewer and interviewee, or in the case of a news segment any of relevant history of both the reporting agency's relationship to the story and the importance or not of the subject/fairness and accuracy of how its being portrayed. The real potency, to me, is that for viewers not so well-versed and unaware of the extent to which the mainstream media is so devious, he'll take clips moment by moment, sometimes sentence by sentence, to get to the heart of what's really being said. Russell Brand does a similarly amazing job with the Trews.

This segment had it all. It's a textbook example of how to analyze and dissect the evil and corrupt sellout of journalism that infects and dominates the corporate-owned mainstream media. I love this particular forum that he occasionally does, with a panel of fellow comedians joining him onstage and chiming in, as he directs the show from behind his laptop, brilliantly getting to the core of what's really going on, by pausing video to explain in detail just how morally bankrupt and corrupt the mainstream media and politicians truly are, in this case Chris Hayes.

I'm not going to get into the specifics, because I just watched it and was pretty floored by how good it was and he's been, consistently now for so long, and wanted to share it right away. But I must add, Sarandon and Josh Fox kicked ass - another textbook example of how to deal with venal corporate media.

I do believe our hero Jimmy Dore detests Chris fucking Hayes even more that I do.

@travelerxxx as such, I think, can be an effective tool at reinforcement.

RW corporate clowns like Limbaugh and O'Reilly, who are also given multi-million $ contracts to keep the status quo, do similarly, such as in the infamous horrifying case of the latter, tagging abortion doctor Tiller with "Tiller the Baby Killer" (which I still think he should be charged for complicity in his murder).

Referring to Trump as "Donnie Tiny Hands" knocks him down, using the same kind of quips the buffoon narcissist asshole uses on his enemies (i.e. Lying Ted, Crooked Hillary),

What Jimmy Dore does from a LW perspective is to reinforce how twisted and ludicrous the capitalist system is, such as CEO to worker salary ratio scale (in this case, "$30,000 a day Chris Hayes," and the same Rachel Maddow), along with pointing out the fraud of the Neoliberal bs doctrine of meritocracy, and the subtext that all this phony bank heisted from the gov't and corporate monopoly plunder is hush money to keep both politicians and newscasters quiet on the real, fundamental issues. What this does is draw attention to and remind people of why these corporate newscasters are implicitly bought off to not report the real news that might upset their advertisers and inform the public by connecting the dots of how they're being fucked by this collusion between the politicians and the media.

Keep hammering douchebags like Hayes and Maddow as Neoliberal frauds, who not only don't have our best interests at all but are actively in the game of smearing the Left the way the pathetic and dying Dem Party wants them to.

@Mark from Queens an even greater comment. I have written in the past about the neoliberal myth of meritocracy and it is the single most common thread that ties all the aspects of the neoliberal ideology together. Chris Hayes is the embodiment of someone who rose to the heights of "meritocracy." It is interesting to watch how hard it is for a Chris Hayes to rationalize to himself that very fact, as he does in the Jimmy Dore clip. Thanks for sharing this and your essay on it.

I fear that the $ 30,000.00 a day corporate media will crash the minds of the good guys like Jimmy Dore. Haven't we seen too many good guys trying to do a good job with their reporting lose their minds and getting destroyed?

Thanks for the video. It makes me feel scared for Jimmy Dore. Like I remember so many excellent political comedians have been destroyed.

@mimi news, as a response to the depravity, vacuousness and disconnectedness of cable tv.

They may still have a foothold on the older folks who will still pay for cable and primarily watch tv for their "news." But as we saw during the Primary, places like TYT had really taken a leap forward as a competing faction, a refreshing no holds barred and unapologetic progressive pushback to the stale, phony presentation and duopoly lapdog status of cable news. The younger demographic, who when polled are amenable to socialism and aren't as vulnerable to tired RW propaganda, are looking for honest and genuine voices, and tend to see corporate news as an archaic, antiquated style out of step with what's going on.

Dore comes from a great tradition, like Twain, Bruce, Carlin, Pryor and Hicks, in which humor can be one of the most potent tools in showing how the emperor truly has no clothes, with the court jester expertly undressing these pompous, overfed Lords.

He's doing such a great job and building a name for himself. People are clamoring for the kind of thing he's doing (did you hear the reaction of the audience? They really get it, don't they?) I think he'll be able to build on what he's doing and be around for a long time.

And I am with you, in the US media landscape you absolutely need the brave souls who fight with humor and biting sarkasm and mockery to peel off the lies to reveal what it is really all about. I guess I was less influenced through TV propaganda in the US than others, I wasn't raised with it, probably that's why. In general I lived more in an isolated bubble which very few Americans would infiltrate.

Just saying it looks like too many people lose their emotional health and I can't imagine a harsher environment in which I could imagine this to happen to individuals than in the politcal news reporting and analysing media environment.

Never actually seen Hayes before. He strikes me as the used car salesman that sells at double blue book to have the car break down a block from the dealer.
His interview style seems to consist of 2-3 minutes of him rapidly repeating a point he wants put out then giving his interviewees ten seconds to rebut before he interrupts them. Y'know, Fox style.
BTW, I like Jimmy, but by the 5th martini he gets pretty mouthy.

There is no such thing as TMI. It can always be held in reserve for extortion.

@ghotiphaze

question like this: "How irresponsible would you say it is for Trump to (do X)?"

The state newspaper of the old USSR would have be embarrassed to be that blatant, but not MSNBC.

mention folks like Tim Black, who's also out there (and a former big Bernie supporter) with a talk show speaking truth to power. Had a look over at The Progressive Wing today and saw him in LieperDestin's open thread. Hat tip...
