If democracy is under threat in this election, Democrats paid $53 million for that threat

Democrats deserve to lose this election. Republicans also deserve to lose this election.
Almost everything the Democrats are saying about the Republicans is true. It's just that the Democrats want Republicans that way, even to the point of paying big bucks to make it happen.

Democrat-aligned groups spent tens of millions of dollars backing MAGA Republicans under the assumption that they would be easier to defeat in the general election. Now some of those same races are more competitive than they had anticipated.

In total, Democrats spent more than $53 million boosting right-wing candidates in nine state primaries this year, according to an analysis by the Washington Post.
...
In Michigan, Democrats spent more than $400,000 on the campaign of John Gibbs, a Trump-backed candidate who has said it’s “mathematically impossible” the former president lost the 2020 election, in the race to represent the state’s 3rd congressional district.

As of Thursday, Gibbs has a 65% chance of defeating Democrat Hillary Scholten, according to Decision Desk HQ.
...
In New Hampshire, the Senate Majority PAC aligned with majority leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., spent $3.2 million on ads helping Republican Don Bolduc defeat his more moderate GOP rival Chuck Morse.

This week, a Trafalgar/Daily Wire poll showed Bolduc with a 1-point lead over incumbent Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan.

I'll probably be enjoying a certain amount of schadenfreude tonight after seeing the Democrats intentionally spending huge amounts of money to help horrifically bad Republican candidates that the Democratic base absolutely did not want, only to see them beat the Democratic elites chosen candidates.
Even when the Democrats didn't spend money on those terrible candidates, they still found ways to help them out. For example, Republican Kari Lake, who is likely to win in Arizona tonight.

Just weeks before the GOP primary, the Arizona Democratic Party sent an email thanking Lake’s more moderate opponent Karrin Taylor Robson for “years of funding Democrats.”

Make no mistake - this Republican victory is going to be terrible for the working class. Even worse than a Democratic victory.

OTOH, the Democratic party isn't a real political party. To be a political party you have to actually represent the people that you vote for. The Democratic party absolutely does not do that. All the Democrats offer is "harm reduction", which is pathetic in itself.
But when the Democrats actually fund and help the harm that they now claim to stand against...? Well, it makes everyone who says that you must vote Democrat because of those awful Republicans look like fools and suckers.

But Dems need to shut up about how it poses an existential threat to America unless and until they stop putting their money where Donald Trump’s mouth is.

The Democratic leadership didn't just mess with the Republican primaries. They also made sure that there was no progressive grassroots movements springing up on their home turf. The elites of the Democratic Party doesn't want their voters motivated by anything positive.

As reported, a corporatist coup within the Democrat Party, which started during the 2021 special elections, has been launched by a wide array of allied groups including cryptospeculators, the oil industry, pharmaceuticals, finance, and even Republicans.

Make no mistake, the goal of the war is to make elected progressives extinct and to extinguish the agenda of higher wages, affordable health care, criminal justice reform, addressing climate change, and putting more economic and political power in the hands of everyday people of all races.

Tragically, this assault by the corporatists appears to be aided by organs of our own Party.

Yet the Democratic party feels entitled to shame progressives for not voting for corporatist Democratic candidates that are openly hostile to progressive values.
At least Republican candidates can pretend to share the same values as their voters. Democrats don't even bother to do that. The Democrats help create the demons in the Republican party that the Democrats are supposed to protect us from. If that sounds like a scam, it's because it is.

It seems so deliberate by the dem leadership. They carved out a territory that doesn't make sense, use tactics that seem clever but backfire and ignore what is animating voters. It's almost as if they worked this "strategy" out 2 years ago and refuse to abandon it even when it's failing.

Even worse, the dems keep claiming the working class, pointing to it as it's base when they've done nothing to help those workers. I read this, kind of spells out how workers get treated. https://dnyuz.com/2022/11/02/elites-are-making-choices-that-are-not-good...

Unfortunately, besides some good things this probably means full speed ahead on a number of bad things, like World War III against Russia-China-Iran, or 1984-style Big Tech censorship, or even more emphasis on identity politics and “the Successor Ideology” in media, academia, and jurisprudence.

I honestly wish the Dems would have won an overwhelming majority. What excuses would they have for not passing things we need then? In a perfect world, that would finally pull the wool off of peoples eyes. But then I remember they had a majority under Bummer and didn't do jack shit with it. Except more military spending, and more wars. Sad.

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

@Crazytimes

they would find a way. I'm quite sure their playbook has several chapters of why
no good things will happen under their watch. Pulling a parliamentary procedure
out of their pocket comes to mind. One member from the other side blocking
a vote to proceed to committee is another. The game is rigged.

@QMS

If one isn’t enough I’m sure that they can find 2 to play the part. If more than 2 are needed they will be found because even though Manchin took the blame there were plenty of blue dawgs in the house that could come out to play.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.
