San Francisco, California - Citizens Flee as City Burns

The massive earthquake which struck early on the morning of Wednesday, April 18th, set off a fire which swept through the city and left behind smoldering ruins. "Newspaper row" was consumed in the fire and yet the city's dailies were able to join together and publish a combined one-day edition on the day after the disaster:
