And photo phreaks! I see it. But I don't know what it is without getting out a book. One of them dern foreign jobs. Even more intriguing is the spaceship of light in the second photo. Awesome. What the hell is that thang? Do I see a power cord? If so, then not a UFO.
Great pics as always Janis. I love your photo eye.

It is electric, and I also enjoy that image very much. It was an early evening on a cold day having just lit the evening fire, and I caught out of my eye this reflection and view out the window. Those are thin metal wires conducting electricity to the hanging lamp.
Well, who would have guessed that you recognised the bird immediately … not me ; ). The bird is the Kereru. He's quite big and strong, and loves to just chill in both rain and shine. Sometimes he will just sit for 20-30 minutes.
I thoroughly enjoy your participation here and anywhere on the site.

They are so playfully and intimately enjoying your birdbath. You can see in your photos the way they relate, or at least that's the way I see it. Thank you.
Don't know whats hanging in the ferns but it sure adds interest to the photo.
The bird is a little up and to the left of center in the first shot.
These Western Bluebirds stopped by the birdbath for a little bit this morning.

WOW SP! Great Western Bluebird photos! For others, the fully blue-headed one including throat is the adult male, adult female below it. Then the speckled ones with spots on back, wing-coverts and underparts are juveniles, that is just-fledged young. The spotted plumage is only briefly held. This is a pair with their young. Very cool SP! GREAT pics!

cause that is what birders do... Thanks for the post and host Janis!
American Rubyspot - a damselfly. The basal half of wings above are bright red and stunning when they fly.
This is a Banded Pennant dragonfly, I think an immature male.
This is adult male Banded Pennant - those dots on face are metallic neon indigo.
Hope all are doing well! It is the best alternative, and revenge.

The rubyspot damselfly must be stunning to see in person. You have a very special skill spotting and capturing photographically what are fleeting visions of nature. It’s a treat, thank you.
And thanks for the thanks. I’m thinking of taking a brief break from hosting. Maybe I'll take the time for revenge and refreshment ; ).

I live on the east side of the lakes. The campgrounds at the north end of the lakes are behind my house.

north end of the lakes over near the eastern edge. I grew up in OB and the family did a fair amount of recreation in East County and AB Desert, Salton Sea and all like that, camping, hiking and such. So I was attuned to getting down there in the spring. My sis now lives in La Mesa which gives me another reason to swing by.

immediately, but had no idea what it was. Somewhat surprised that it is a pigeon, but the head is a major clue for them (as in "pigeon headed") and it isn't visible. I also loved the disco volante, which must've been a stunning sight. That said, I almost like the foliage more, all the shades, textures and illumination. Thanks.
